Great job, all the video I’ve seen, this is the easy one hands down. I’m going use this to build my raised bed. So simple and clean. Great job again. Give your wife credit for snipping the galvanized thin too. Thank you.
I’ve watched several videos on making raises beds but yours is the first that Listed the exact measurements and how many of each item is needed to build it. Thank you so much, I can do this. You made it easy
I too have been doing research for several months on this type of raised bed and your video was by far the easiest (with measurements) without a whole lot of talking about irrelevant topics (such as dogs, children and other fluff talk - however nice that is to some). I just wanted to get down to building the darn thing and you nailed it (pun intended).
I saw on a tv homesteading show they took the blade off of a circular saw and installed it backwards and cut the corrugated metal that way with a backwards saw blade and it worked great
Built a 4x12, 2ft high and found a few miscues. 1st I bought 2ft by 8 ft roof panels but upon assembly after already cutting 19" 2x4's, found the roofing measure 26" so I had to trim the panels along all 8 ft. When set in place and filled with dirt, the top bowed out bad so had to dig the dirt away and use pipe clamps to pull it back in and add 2 braces across the top. That solved that problem but 2 weeks later, the bottom is now bowed out badly so this off season, I'll have to remove the dirt, flip it over and install lower cross bracing of some sort. So I like the design but these are issue to look out for.
Very innovative. Thanks for taking the time to share your creativity! I am planning on building a couple of raised beds with about the same dimensions on the property that I reside upon. Your design has sparked my own ideas of how to utilize some 'junk' on my property to create a similar design. If you have the time, I would be very interested in hearing a short follow up/photo on how your raised bed is holding up a year later. Especially how the long sides are fairing as raised beds often start blowing out the long sides due to the pressure/weight of the soil. Nice work, thanks!
We made these beds 2 years ago and they have been great, but one box is leaning so that I'm afraid it will break apart. Any ideas on how to fix? the beds are 16 feet long with a vertical break in the middle.
Best raised bed video yet! I think I can do this one without my husband! 😊 I think I want 16 ft x 4 ft x 2.5 ft H. I think I can still use your plan though. I'll just put another support piece. I'll do a video on my channel "They Call Me Sunshine" and give you a shoutout. Thanks so much for keeping it simple 😊
Great video - simple and straightforward. I'm making one that's only 2' wide instead of 4. I'm terrible at math...if the 48" corrugated is cut to 44" would the 2' modification call for 22" side walls? A little confused where the 44 came from
Very nice. My neighbors have build ones like these and I was going to ask them how or where they got the plans. I don't have a vehicle big enough to move large pieces of corrugated metal or long planks of wood. Will supply stores deliver it or would I need to rent a vehicle? On a side note, I was cringing when she was cutting the metal with no gloves... :)
So if my math is correct the build list is? 2x12 ft sheets of aluminum 1x8ft sheet of aluminum 7x 2x4x12ft 2x 1x4/6 12 foot deck boards 1 8ft deck board for sides 3 inch screws and self tap with washer is needed to keep aluminum on over time so hole doesn’t punch out. Am I missing something? Seems like under 100$ a bed
What do you think this would cost today? I am debating on doing such so I can control the soil good and do hoops during fall amd early winter amd early spring in Wisconsin
The wood will rot after several years but that’s the nature of it I suppose. Other than concrete, there aren’t many materials that won’t eventually break down over the lifespan of the garden.
Can't help but to wonder if the metal will be hot to the touch? I want to do something like this but am concerned that the hot Florida sun will make it to dangerous :(
Have you had to run a 1 by 4 or 2 by 4 across the center from one side tot he other to hold the sides in or has it held up for you with the weight of the dirt inside?
It is best to run a 2x4 on the middle inside bottom. It does help keep it from bowing out. Go to my channel and look for the time lapse build of my new and improved model.
@@oursimplestorychannel can you clarify? do you mean go halfway up to the middle of the tin and go horizontal with the 2x4? or do you mean put it at the bottom where the frame is?
So this is a interesting build because you kept the wood out of the beds aluminum inside wood outside so my only change up will be deck board being cypress it’s cheaper also oil/water based wood family since that will drip directly into beds
Great but pointless. It's actually cheaper and much easier to just buy metal sheet raised beds given the lumber prices. I can actually buy a raised bed that about 20ft long 3ft wide and 3ft high for around 120eur in my country. If i would have to buy these materials it would cost me 5 times not to mention the time and effort ;)
IMO, this is the simplest and clearest demonstration of this type of high bed construction I have seen on youtube.
Thank you!
Thank you. I am clueless and I feel I can do this after watching your instructions.
Awesome! Mission accomplished.

Having a budget goes a long way when it comes to being creative. Nice.
You got the thumbs up and YES you earned it! THANKS

Thanks for the feedback! Best of luck! Be sure to watch my other videos for a more updated version.
Aaaaamazing
Great concise information
This looks so easy, thanks for the step by step instructions. Awesome Video and Job.
Glad I could help!

R u using pressure treated wood
I saw on a tv homesteading show they took the blade off of a circular saw and installed it backwards and cut the corrugated metal that way with a backwards saw blade and it worked great
I agree with the other comments, that your raised beds turned out great! Keep up the good work.
This is exactly what we want! Now we wait for the lumber shortages to resolve.
Yeah, lumber had really gone up in price for here in Alabama as well. I think it started after Hurricane Michael hit in 2018.
The price went up after the election
@@eutimiochavez415 it has been up for a while. It is due in part to the election but also hurricanes that hit the Southeast in 2018.
Great video. Clear and concise.
Thanks for watching!

Those are some good tips. I have redesigned these a little and should put out a new video I suppose.
Just watched your video
Excellent 😁.
Thinking off building few beds and yours look perfect.
What height is your finished bed.

24 inches. Thanks for watching!!

To keep the long sides from bowing use a piece of all thread connected through the metal on both sides with a block of wood then washer and nut.
Amazing job, they look beautiful!!
Thanks!!

Looks good Buddy!
Thanks. Don't need a 12 footer. I'm making an 8 footer.
So we have done pallet raised beds... but I really like the look of these! Perhaps I recycle some tin we have lying around... Thanks for sharing!
Glad though liked them!

Yes, I would do 22 or 22” sidewalls. Thanks for your kind words and be sure to sub if you don’t mind support our family channel :) it’s free!
@@oursimplestorychannel Thanks for reply...and I did subscribe!
Great video. Quick question have you had any trouble with the sides bowing out since you built them?
Yes I have. I have since run a 2x4 or two in the middle inside bottom (I hope that makes sense) and it prevents this from happening.
Could you add a list of materials and lengths of wood, tin, screws and anything else needed?
Would love to see what it looks like filled with dirt and plants

Yeah, she’s brave huh? Thanks for watching! Some lumber suppliers will deliver material if you meet their minimum order amounts. Just depends.
Do you have any step by step plans for these? A material list?
So if my math is correct the build list is?
2x12 ft sheets of aluminum
1x8ft sheet of aluminum
7x 2x4x12ft
2x 1x4/6 12 foot deck boards
1 8ft deck board for sides
3 inch screws and self tap with washer is needed to keep aluminum on over time so hole doesn’t punch out.
Am I missing something?
Seems like under 100$ a bed
Hi there, great video. The wood is treated or non treated? Thanks
Treated. Thanks!
This looks great! What was the cost of building this raised bed?
Around $117 depending on your local lumber prices.
@@oursimplestorychannel Thanks!
What do you think this would cost today? I am debating on doing such so I can control the soil good and do hoops during fall amd early winter amd early spring in Wisconsin
About $225
@@oursimplestorychannel thank you
How do you keep the wood from rotting from earth/wood contact and the sides from bulging out after a little time??

Not with cool dirt on the other side.

What gauge is the calvanized steel ?
Is that cedar or just treated wood?
Treated pine

Legit!
You could also or alternatively use plastic not metal sides, metal is valuable and on remote property people steel stuff.
