  • This is a vintage film donation from Ken Snowden consisting of two, 16mm films taken in 1940 by his family traveling from Scranton, PA to The Phillipines via the South Dakota Badlands, Yellowstone, San Francisco and Honolulu. Quite a trip! The cart racing (harness racing) scenes at the end were taken at Goshen in New York State. Also note, the Moffett Coal Company depicted at the beginning of the film was owned by the film donor's family (M.J. Martin) and located in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
For those with a very sharp eye, you will take note of the long-gone electric street car trolley's electrical connection bar as it moves from right to left down Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki. (Also, that's IS the Royal Hawaiian Hotel's pink bell tower viewed in the background).
