Its interesting in our opening prayer as muslims we also start by addressing Allah in the third person. It starts "All praise is due to Allah Lord of the worlds. The Most Gracious The Most Mericiful. One needs to love HaShem so much for such a prayer. That's the recognition you mention Rabbi Singer? The awareness of His power, His compassion for His creation, the love of a real Father. B"H
Salaam alaikum Rabbi, amazing answer! I deeply appreciate the answer that addressed the most important part of the prayer which is the state of mind during prayer. I understood the caller's question to be of a more practical nature, such as how do you stand, what do you wear, what actions you do while praying. You took the question to a much deeper and profound level which is something I truly appreciate about you and your nature, praise be to God.
With all due respect, although there are many similarities between how Muslims and Jews pray/believe, there are still some major and significant differences. For instance, we would never dare refer to Allah as a husband nor are we His children, we are children of man not of God…we are simply His humble servants/slaves!!! Any interjections of ideas or descriptions of our relationship between The Creator and His creations that wasn’t revealed to us are simply innovations and our own imagination. As Muslims, we must reject not praise innovations!!! Out of brotherly love in humanity , my advice to you is, don’t soak up everything you hear just because it may sound warm & loving! Allah knows best!
@@Who.is.kidding.who. In *Jeremiah 2:1-2* *Isaiah 54:5-6* *Hosea **2:18**-22* HaShem refers to His relationship with Israel as one of betrothal, where He is our husband and we are His wife. In *Exodus 4:22-23* HaShem refers to Israel as His firstborn son. I don’t expect you, being a Muslim, to necessarily accept this but since this is a channel for Jewish learning any Jewish visitors reading your comment should also be presented with what HaShem has preserved for us in Tanach.
@@garymichaels719 you as a Jew or perhaps a Christian have the right to believe what you choose so as Muslims, we also have the right to believe as we choose…my comment is strictly directed to the brother who made the comment so he can be aware or be reminded not to take in ideas that do not fall in line with Islamic teachings. So, don’t fall apart just because we don’t see eye to eye on every single part of our respective scriptures!!! This in no way mocking your scripture but the idea of God being a husband totally goes against our beliefs so by all means follow your your interpretations and we will follow the Words of Allah (SWT) as was revealed to us through the Quran! In Islam . Prayer could be the physical act or the mental one . The ritual starts with having the intention to pray to gad and cleansing your body , and choosing a clean place . The mental parts could should be part of the physical one or independent . You can praise the lord anywhere and whenever you want , but Salat is a codified ritual of acts and sayings . First , you need to fear god if you want him to answer your prayers. Believe in only him , no lies, no fornication , no stealing …. Then you can address god . Start by praising him and recognising his uniqueness and power and your weakness and helplessness then ask . In Islam , the best answered prayer is the volunteer one , as opposed to the five daily prayers, before dawn when everyone is asleep and in the position of prostration and cry if you can . Give donation to the poor . All these aspect will help.
Praying is sort of a journaling in the mind, right? It makes us understand better what we really want & why? But ofc dif than just being w us is aknowledging & trying to get closer to the One True Almighty G-d

Wow! I This is an insightful message about prayer, I never heard a message like this in my entire life. Thanks much Hashem for Rabbi Tovia ❤🙏
You have your religion and we have ours, no need to get defensive!!!
@@Who.is.kidding.who. Asalaamalaikum brother, I was aware of all what you shared and also what Allah swt says in Surah Al-Maida verse 13. I encourage you to read what Allah swt says in this verse, especially the last two sentences in the verse.

Thank you Rabbi! The story with Hannah is very moving
I agree. I felt poor Hannah's pain, and I am a guy.

What you do with Jesus, depends where you spend eternity. Jesus is the "Emmanuel" [God with Us] Matthew 1:23; Isaiah 7:14; Mary's fertilized egg had only God's DNA [genetic characteristics] that God and Jesus shared with each other. The DNA shared made God and Jesus "Identical Twins or Clone" of the Heavenly Father "Yahweh". John 14:7; John 14:1; John 10:30-33; Jesus did not share any DNA or BLOOD with His earthly mother, shewas only an "Sarragut-Host" because the DNA and BLOOD would have made Jesus Imperfect because of Adam's Sin. 1 Corinthians 15:21-23; John 14:7; John 14:7-10; 3:16; 16:16; Matthew 19:26; Luke 18:27; 1;37; John3:1; Mark 1:17; John 11:25
@@KeyofSolomon , Jesus is completely redundant, and mostly mythical. The Non Testament is not scripture.

My favorite scene from the movie Ushpizin framed in an orthodox neighborhood of Jerusalem with an orthodox married couple at the time of Sukkot was the kitchen scene. The wife is talking to someone, you don't quite know who yet. She is speaking in such an intimate tone, almost as if to a lover or husband. She says things like, "You are always so sweet to me..." and we find out later in the scene that she is speaking to G-d.
Wow, it blows my mind.
HaShem has his own way how to unfold things.❤

As a Christian, I was blessed by this. What a beautiful reminder from scripture of how we should approach prayer.
Praying to a man is idolatry.
@@hrvatskinoahid1048 Strange that this "man" has been performing miracles and transforming peoples lives for 2000+ years. Are you going to claim that these millions of people from across the world and unrelated cultures that have received these miracles and directly answered prayers are all "delusional" and that you are correct that he is "just a man" ?? How utterly absurd.
@@shaunm8692 The whole world worshiped idols in the time of Abraham.
@@james-yf9wm these verses from the Hebrew bible refute the Christian idea of god needing a mediator: Deuteronomy 4:15-19: “You saw no form of any kind the day the Lord spoke to you at Horeb out of the fire. This was a very wonderful explanation. Thanks!! What do we pray for or say after we enter and recognize we are in His presence??
Thank you. Yes, it is about how we pray, not how to pray. It is sad that 'to pray' carries the sense of 'to beg' whis is at the root of those colorful array of 'possibility thinking', 'prosperity peddling', and 'purpose driven life' - enamored by many Christians.
A great description of Kevana

As a Muslims how perfectly what Rabbi said align with the beginning of all the prayers 5 time a day, It begins like this:
In the Name of Allah-the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.
All praise is for Allah-Lord of all worlds,
the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,
Master of the Day of Judgment.
You ˹alone˺ we worship and You ˹alone˺ we ask for help.
Guide us along the Straight Path,
the Path of those You have blessed-not those You are displeased with, or those who are astray.1
Thanks you Rabbi making me aware of my prayer..
Laws of prayer in Rambam's Mishneh Torah should explain what the prayers are specifically. The Prophets seem to pray in kneeling and prostration.
I was once atheist and I believe in Yeshua as Alpha and Omega.. because He has become my Messiah.. He Revealed himself to me. ❤

The way the jews pray is absolutely amazing the way you jews praise and glorify allah in the prayer. We Muslims prayer and glorify allah in identical way
Pray an act of perfect contrition everyday

That is actually such a beautiful message, and it is messages like that, that cause me to fall more and more in love with Judaism each day.
The fact that we are capable of loving another person, and especially the gift of falling in love is, as far as I am concerned, the greatest evidence for the existence of G-d, and how wonderful He truly is.

"Keep this mental attitude that was also in Christ Jesus; who, although he was existing in God's form, gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God." Philippians 2: 5, 6. "A voice out of the cloud overshadowed them, and look! A voice out of the cloud, saying: "This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved; listen to Him." Matthew 17: 5. This idea; that Christ was God, came from the Great apostasy 2Thessaloninans 2: 3 and the 'man of lawlessness' became revealed. This is seen at present as clerics are being charged and convicted; and imprisoned, for crimes against children. But God's word the Bible John 17: 17 reveals the truth. Christ is; and always was; the Son of God 1John 5: 5. God is Christ's Head Corinthians 11: 3.

I wonder how the Torah finishes this story about Hana.
A question to Muslims as well to jews, What do you think about jews knowing they worship same God as we. How do jews think knowing about we Muslims worship God as you do.
Abraham, Moses, Aaron, Joshua, and King David pbut all fell on their faces before their lord, as per the Torah. E.G Genesis 17:3 “Abraham fell on his face” That’s how the prophets prayed, by preforming the ultimate act of submission to The One true God of all the world’s

The original word for pray in hebrew is to think. That blew my mind because thats been my experience with God but it didnt fit any christian models. In fact many Christians discourage thinking. I saw this church bill board that said, "A free thinker is Satans slave"
! what a lie !
If you want to know how the prophets prayed look at how Muslims pray. Muslims circumcise, grow beard, avoid Alcohol, pork etc, pray like prophets. In every aspect, they follow the Prophets.
Maybe I’m missing something here but doesn’t "You" imply second person since "Him" would imply third person?
Like a beautiful poem, beautiful and well said mr Singer

Did you guys also have prostration to god like we have in our salah ? Just curious 🧐
The Jews start by saying capital G, dash little case d in heaven, hallowed be your name the name which is HaShem which means the name.
Apparently, G-d is a Quinity, e.g, there is 1. G-d; 2. L-rd; 3. L-RD; 4. L-rd G-d; &, 5. L-RD-G-d.
all christians should watch and listen to it. maybe this is the reason why God does not listen to their prayer. because they finish their prayer by saying in jesus name. I am christian but about 15 yrs. ago I read the Old Testament. I saw that there is no truth in jesus. and since then I have not made the sign of the cross when praying. all the studies I have learned are true since I watched Rabbi Tovia Singer about 2 yrs. ago. and confirm what I learned 15 yrs. ago is true.

I have studied the prayers and conclude that apart from massive repetition the actions of Hashem are mostly historically wrong. Hashem has not done most of that which we say He has. Its all very dissappointing.
@Tarun Kumar you Christians have been claiming for the last 2,000 years that Jesus is the promised Jewish messiah but were is he after 2,000 years or do you Christians have to wait another 200 years until Jesus finally comes back again for a second time.
And their faces will turn blue waiting for the return of Jesus because he was never there to begin with. Jesus isjust as real as Robin Hood.
Psalm 90 talks about the 70 to 80 years and then we see fly away and these years seem to be pointing to the Fig tree generation which would put us around seventy five with 80 seeming to be the limit and maybe when Jesus comes back and we know the time of his coming is very close by the things that are happening like the man of sin standing in the holy place which is the abomination of desolation and he will make it plain on the table so we see the day approaching. He will come at the appointed time. The watchmen are commanded to watch and run with the truth to warn the people.2028 could be the year and the last day of the great feast the last day of salvation on this earth about 7017 years after the flood.
It is a my pleasure that i get to answer your ?"s.The man of sin is Satan ruling in the churches who were mandated to bring the gospel but brought man made gospels and God would judge them all in the 1290 years of Daniel which points to the year 1994 or 1290 times 2 years from the destruction of the first temple and 1290 times 3 years from the time Jacob was commanded to leave the promised land.God has made the churches desolate and has given them to Satan and this is the abomination of desolation spoken by Daniel which means we are to look at this book.Psalm 90 vs 10 speaks about the 70 to 80 years and we some some fly away and this is not speaking about ages but about the Figtree generation and 80 would be 80 years from 1948 when Israel was a nation again..
