This is one of the most positive stories I've had to pleasure to listen to. As a 75-year-old gay man who has been with his partner, husband since 2015, for 30 years, it's wonderful to listen to subtle acknowledgement of family of things they've known for years. I came out to my family in 1962 at age 13. My grandmother, in her ultimate words of acceptance not only for me but for all of her descendants, said to me when I told her...."Baby, I've known who you were since you were 4 years old. Our job is to raise you to be the man you're supposed to be, not the man we want you to be." No greater parenting philosophy has been uttered since she uttered those words. It seems as though this family was waiting for him to accept himself. Once that happens, the door, which he thought was closed, stood before him.... wide open, with wide open arms filled with love, acceptance, and hope for love for him in the future. Great affirmation of what total love is all about.
This was absolutely one of the best stories I have heard so far. It shows that there is a possibility family will surprise you. That was my situation I came out to my family several years ago and my mother who was very closed minded growing up was open to me and just said all I want is my kids to be happy”. I realize not everyone will have this experience but it is absolutely a step that needs made. We can’t live our lives in the closet. As I said this is one of the best stories I have heard, very positive.
Reading your comment is making me really sad! I pray for you that the day will come you will not have to hide anymore and find your honest love that will bring you out of your hiding and makes your heart feel warm and in peace ❤️ don't be scared, it's never to late ❤️ I wish you the best ❤️

Lovely heartwarming coming out story.
Pity it doesn't work for everyone.
At 63 I'm still hiding
