Outside of maybe the service academies, D1 football players aren't focused on a "quality education". That said, there are plenty of schools around the country in Power 4 programs that offer a quality education. NIL and the portal have pretty much killed school tradition for anyone other than fans. Where it matters are smaller states where there is one or two traditional powerhouse programs.

It’s all good fellas. We’ll move onto the next one. However, I will say if they’re just looking for the bag why don’t they just do the negotiations behind-the-scenes with the teams that they’re considering and once they arrive at a number then do a verbal commit? IDK!

USC recruiting is going to be unstable until we win on the field. Fans have to be supportive and patient with Lincoln. ✌️ think about all the recruit classes we had after Pete Carroll… We were mid to average, but we were able to get high recruiting classes because those kids saw USC win. I mean when you think about it if guys are getting a lot of money well in California that’s 13% in state taxes where most states the state tax rate is low or some don’t have any at all. That can make a big difference when we are talking hundreds of thousands of dollars.

@@USCJ dang, the politicians gonna have to help usc out and reduce taxes or something. Even the states that pay state tax most are usually around 4-6% which is doable. J, you said it. Recruiting is totally different now. Good luck to all these young men who are making decisions about their futures. Until any of USC's current verbally committed players sign their LOI's, Trojan fans tamp down expectations and your excitement.
These 17 & 18 yo young men are not USC's property and have every right to explore their options on and off the field. Don't let a recruit's personal decision about their playing career/life steal your joy. If Julian Lewis decides to decommit (like Bryce Young did), it's ok.
They're going to be more shocking moves made between now and December. Riley & and the coaching staff need to make sure the team is well prepared for this 2024 season in the B10. If the product on the field looks good and the team wins 9-10 games, everything else will take care of itself. We as fans need to desensitize ourselves from getting overly excited on verbal commitments.

Yea some Cali kids leave J, but their the ones made of that special stuff, also we've flipped some Cali/West coast kids from GA or Alabama, Tenn, ND due to distance and them wanting to be closer to home in the past. My point was, look at kids such as Fountain, Newby, Abasari, Jones, Shelby, etc, these players don't care about distance, they love SC and and want to be Trojans, distance doesn't matter to them. NIL I don't think is playing a factor here, these players are going to make great money whether they stay at SC or if they end up at a school closer to home. Terry, Gibson, Stubbs all will go to top SEC schools get paid and play close to home, and that's the difference; they can get paid here, if they become great players they will probably make more money here in LA than at GA or Bama but one thing that SC can't offer Terry, Gibson, Stubbs is playing in front of their family and friends and also the comfort of where they grew up like the SEC schools. It takes a type of character to move far from home and make their home in all new soundings. Fight On J ✌🏽, we get the best athletes to come to SC but it will be the ones who love SC football and the ones that won't let distance keep them from their dream of wearing the Cardinal and Gold ✌🏽

@@USCJ Yes, it is harder for kids in the South for a multitude of reasons. So many of these kids want to build generational wealth, to take care of their families and their moms, have shared a home with multiple family units. Their moms and dads and siblings want to watch them play. Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, Alabama, etc....they are so small compared to CA. Football is more important in the Southeast, who cares the reasons why. In SoCal, kids grow up watching USC, ucla, notre dame, oregon, stanford, bezerkeley, and their parents are often alums. In Georgia, it's UGA...period. In their families, their schools, their neighborhoods, their churches. If a local high school gets a visit from a Saban or Kirby or now even Drinkwitz, it's a BIG deal. Imagine being from a town with a population of just 3,000. A 5* to that town is a dang hero. Yes, it's different.

Recruiting not the same, alot of rule changes need to be put in place I mean alot. Transfer portal should only open up and stay open for no more than two months. Recruits should seek NIL through companies on their own terms and not through the school. With the tv revenue only 20 million should be shared amongst the recruits. If recruits start receiving TV revenue from a school that they have committed to due to them transferring there and then they decide to hop back into the transfer portal before the two month period closes, then it should be a penalty on the recruits to pay back money and sit for a whole season.

I commented in the past how LOVE is born from early childhood. riley closing doors to youth will haunt SC for years. Freud and Erikson long concluded we are what we are before age 8; this is when our essence/blueprint becomes.
I grew-up physically watching USC practices/activities as a kid. Security would kick us out, next opportunity, I was watching Basketball/football/track,,, practices again.
More importantly wishing/hoping I could be on her field someday performing.
riley's lack of forethought has erased these possibilities. Open doors for schools to bring our deserving (good grades) youth to practices your highness. Somebody talk to our QB whisperer, just like they were finally able to convince him about Grinch.

My point is the time to build is now saying it takes time to build a team up might be true in the pros but in college guys are here for a few years then their gone Top teams don't have to rely on transfer portals & dont try to selling the idea that it will take years to turn it around they make it happen as soon as possible. This truly is frustrating as a life long USC fan to see us accepting mediocrity especially in the recruiting department hell we not UCLA or Vanderbilt the bleeding has to stop.

@@alanmaddox5772 The sad part about being out of the NILs game is USC is a private, wealthy university. Somebody is not doing their job. Where is the new vision? Appears to be No leadership and mismanagement. We are not operating in the 1980's. I just read UCLA has new donors for upgrading Bruin NILS.

In this environment I will celebrate the day after the second NLOI day. I will definitely be joining you,,. Pro sports have lost my interest and money, as I will never visit another game. They went on strike; I went on permanent strike against them.
I still chuckle over the mindlessness of flocking to Rams games, after they gave the city the middle finger.
Rams are like the boy/girlfriend who dumps you; and like a fool you take them back. Where are your collective dignities brothers and sisters??

USC J, it's hard to get these guys from the south to commit totally. If these guys are mature they'll stay. California kids are more mature on a level of living in a big city environment. Our recruits are more ready to leave home quicker than southern guys. The southern guys are more homey and scared of the big fast city life. It takes a certain type of down south soldier to leave that southern down south slow way of life. We will when some and lose some on that southern south but we will win more than we'll lose. Lincoln I think already knows who's in and who's out but he's strong at getting guys to come to the west coast. The ones that stay are mature and aren't scared to relocate to a big city. More less their not pure momma boys and can't adapt to that California way of life

The real reason that they stay home and not go to USC is because USC is not the caliber of football that we have in the South. I know you have to say great things about LA but I’m from the ATL and we have plenty of things to do in this Big City and football to be honest in the south is on a totally different level than at USC!!! Go Dawgs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing to do with maturity or being scared. Kirby's practices are anything but "slow". UGA puts kids in the NFL. Doesn't take much to highlight that to players and their families. This whole concept of "mommas boys" is lacking in understanding. You will find plenty of situations with moms who have worked 2 jobs to put food on the table, to provide for their kids, and somehow still never miss a game. Their sons see the struggle and they want to provide in return.

@@stanleyworthy4163 If ATL was the comparison, then they'd all go to North Ave Trade School, lol. ATL and it's encompassing counties have more kids willing to leave than anywhere else, just look at Kameryn Fountain. You know how hard it is to get a Buford kid to UGA. Regardless, no thank you to ATL, give me the North Georgia mountains ALL day.

They have to move away from home at for the NFL. But for college they don’t have to so why do it? They can stay close to home, get great development, and save more of their NIL because of the lower cost of living and lower taxes. And have family and friends going to games. Why not? That’s why we really need to start recruiting California stronger.

Indictment on the economy. People are struggling. Families can’t wait 3-4 years for a payout. Also, let’s discuss the taxes that accrue on these NIL deals. How much does CA taxes play into all this? Does that further dip into their bottom line?

It not about the economy players expect to be paid now not maybe later. Some ift these players come from poorer families. They need this money . Plus with many of them nil is the only money they will ever get from football @@stopthethreat
