This set really _is_ built to impress! Every feature was built with care, from esthetical to functional. It's a _huge_ step up from Micky Mouse & Minnie Mouse set's interpretation of a cartoony look. The entirety of Bowser's body is smooth, natural, and hardly blocky at all, which is pretty hard to replicate, since LEGO Bricks are, well...blocky! This set is _definitely_ on _my_ wanted list! 🎩👌🏻

I can already tell this is gonna be an instant LEGO classic. those puppet movements are incredible and super unique!
Now THAT is really impressive! Even the different levels of his belly-shell are captured. Love that puppet aspect to it!
I think the most impressive part was Carl's moustache.
I was very excited about this set until I actually owned it. It came missing pieces. So I have a headless Bowser. About ready to throw it in the trash.

@@redresistor1330 also just ask lego to ship you the parts if it’s only a few. It doesn’t cost anything. Or just buy the parts. Don’t just throw the whole bowser away (which you can make into a koopaling with a few modifications)

@@goman3696 Yes, I know Nintendo is stingy with their licensing fees, but that is the worst aspect of Lego Mario; the pricing of every single set.
However, much like the NES, and ? Block, I can kinda see the justification of the pricing on this Bowser. There might be A LOT of Lego Technic pieces on the inside of the figure, there’s also the fact that there’s a ton of new Lego pieces in this set, the set was crafted to be like a puppet, there’s a spring loaded projectile, and it is a very heavy figure.
This is so detailed and incredible, in my opinion, one of the best designed sets ever. It is very close to his design and probably the best you could make it in the time that they probably did.

Oh yes! More brick-built sets need functionality like this. The attention to detail is fantastic!
Ever since i played Mario Galaxy years back i've always wanted to make my own Bowser but back then the parts selection just didn't allow for such complex shapes unless i were to make it bigger than this model, which i didn't have the bulk parts for. Finally a dream come true. It's incredibly well designed but i think the LEGO system means it feels a bit low poly, which is a compliment, it means it's nostalgic for those who grew up with some of the earlier 3d renders of Bowser like in Sunshine, smash bros melee or the first New Super Mario bros game on DS. Definitely getting this one for sure.
We really need more character based builds like bowser here, they can make this into a new theme!

Looks a lot better than I was expecting. The articulation features really make this build.
I'll be honest; most of the Lego Mario stuff I've seen looks like a cheesy, expensive gimmick. This bowser on the other hand looks like a genuinely great build. I can't wait to try and order this thing! A perfect set for any Lego collection!

@@Craimbow Lego price are getting higher, but we're still paying less when adjusted for inflation when compared to the 70s-80s-90s.
I don't care for the Lego mario stuff either but I think this is part of the same line as the NES and Question block. But just has lego mario features built in like the NES did. Instant buy for me.

Quite possibly the most impressive Lego model I have seen. Captures a unique character perfectly while also having an insane amount of control. This is perfection.

Just got this for Christmas as a surprise gift and after two days of building, I have to say this beast is absolutely impressive! He’s super sturdy and all his parts move very well!

The worst part about this is how many new sets they announced right now. The AT-TE, the Justifier, the super awesome new Caste set... all of them expensive. This Bowser would be Day1 buy for me if it had a more reasonable price.

This Set is absolute greatness. Got it as a gift to my birthday and love it ever since. Made me shot videos for youtube and started to get creative. Amazing Job there!

I have been collecting LEGO since I was about 6 or 7 years old (turning 20 this year) and I have to say this has gotta be one of the best looking LEGO sets ever made! I love bowser and this set does him a huge amount of justice, it looks amazing!!

I'm super impressed that there are so few special parts in this build. As a kid I always appreciated that I could probably make something similar to a box set I didn't own yet with enough parts from other sets and just try to replicate it with just the images of it from the lego magazine or online, and then just wait until Christmas to buy the real thing cause of how much I enjoyed my imitation.
This is sure a great piece, with details. i do not collect Super Mario Lego however i can see myself adding this to my collection as it makes a great display piece.
Don't really have many Legos or even figures but this is so tempting, even at the price point. The way it moves like a puppet with a great level of detail and life is truly impressive.
Compared to Mario this would work well for a galaxy 2 sized version of Bowser

It didn't really click (pun not intended) how _big_ this Koopa king really is until Mario showed up. One of these days, I'm going to get these Mario LEGOs, and this is absolutely on the buy list.

Looks like they have covered pretty much everything here, the only detail that's missing is giving Mario a way to spin Bowser around by the tail and throw him into the background.

When I first saw the model, I was a bit dissapointed, because I wanted something similar to the previous D2C models. But now that I think about it, this is an AMAZING set! I especially love the shell's surroundings. First glance, I thought it was a new piece. It's just perfect! I also adore the head moving functions as well. Just like you said, it really makes Bowser come to life, and the action is so smooth! I like the subtle, yet awesome jumping feature. Honestley that's pretty cool. Anyway, congratulations! You made another great set, Mr.Merriam!

I wrote to Lego when I was 7 years old in 1992 asking them to team up with Nintendo to make a Mario lego set. This is 30 years too late, but cool to see.
