- In 1989, six Polish climbers were on their way down from the summit of Everest when they were struck by a massive avalanche. Four died within hours; a fifth did not survive the night. One injured climber was left stranded on the mountain. He was saved couple of days later in a heroic rescue bid. This was the greatest catastrophe in the history of Polish Himalayan mountaineering. The tragedy took place at Lho La, a high pass separating Khumbu and Rongbuk glaciers.

Thank you for posting this video. I enjoy your channel.
Thanks for watching!
Another excellent film of a sad but moving story. Thank you for all your diligence and skill.
Splendid! Of course, sad. Also THANK YOU for the closed captions without which I would not have been able to watch the feature.
Wow very interesting expedition. So the year he finally returned to climbing, Rob Hall dies on the mountain he had nearly died on. Then he ultimately dies on a mountain over a decade later. Crazy how the mountains usually win one way or another.
I so enjoy your videos. You always give a honest and unbiased review of the events that transpired and I appreciate that.
Thank you for sharing this story. Brave Men, all. 😌😔
I live near than Himalayan mountains!
For me you doing great work! One of the best channel of this topic! Keep the fire burning men ✌🏽🇵🇰

Interesting video, thank you. I hope to see a video on the 1988 Czech tragedy one day.
Thank you for this new video! It was well investigated as you always do for your videos. Very interesting, I’ve learnt about another climbing route on Everest as well. Great!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Happy to catch the latest upload so quickly. Always enjoying your content. Thank you Sir 🙏
God willing, may you have a good day
Same to you!
@@epicadventurearchives thank you 🙏
Sir, I like the new format choices. It’s good to see the climbers faces. It makes them seem more ‘real’. With the greatest respect may I say that although your English is excellent, your accent is still very strong. I’m familiar with your accent however I am struggling a little bit to keep up with facts. I appreciate Sir, that you most likely speak several languages, and as I mentioned, your English is excellent, but for me, I appreciate the subtitles. Maybe it’s my settings, I’ll check.
I do like the new edit and content choices. Your education is apparent.
Well done 🙌☺️
Thanks for your positive feedback. I always add subtitles to my videos. Please click on CC.

Thank you ❤ Well done!!
Thank you, a very enjoyable and detailed account of this terrible tragedy .
When I listen to these mountaineering tragedies it is most likely for a climber to die than not depending on how frequent such dangerous mountains are climbed. Of course your chances for survival are greater when experienced but one day a climbed mountain can be that specific one too many.
Unfortunately the only survivor from the Lho La tragedy - the youngest climber Andrzej Marciniak eventually died in mountains too. He died at the age of 50 (like Eugeniusz Chrobak) in Tatra Mountains on Slovakian side during climbing on August 7th 2009. 20 years after the Lho La tragedy...
