- Опубліковано 7 тра 2017
- This video is a remixed version of video #13-31 from 2013 (which is muted) and the first half of video #13-32. It follows CA-110 South from Pasadena through DTLA to I-110 south to CA-47 and the Ports and eventually to I-710 North in a disk to dark setting. All music and equipment FAQ's are in the closing credits.

It’s my dream to visit and one day live here
It's been almost two years, I been watching this video like almost every day!! I hope one day I get a chance and see the beautiful California and it's sunset. I love the songs too. Well done.
Thanks and I hope you get to see it someday too, it's a pretty special place.
Can't go wrong with an LA sunset, well done!!
They are beautiful, thank you!
Just subsribed to your chanell josh
This video is just magical! I have no words! Thank you for making it!
I'm glad you enjoy it, thank you!
i could see this video the entire day and be so high in the same time
Thank you!
Just got back from LA and that skyline had changed a lot. Great video and notes.
Thank you!
Excellent looking video and a great fun ride. I liked seeing California. The music was great too, especially that last song. I definitely heard Patti Smith the way Johnette sang it. Thanx for posting this.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
I can literally listen to this for a century and not get tired of it
Thanks, glad you like it!
Literally all the song in my playlist are from you
@@hallindpropertiesllc9331 That's pretty cool, thanks for sharing that!
How did you find Johnette's dancing barefoot
@@hallindpropertiesllc9331 On this CD, about 20 years ago, it has some great covers. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirit_of_%2773:_Rock_for_Choice
This video really is something special, I can’t contain myself from coming back to it at least once a week. Watching this completely soothes my soul no matter what I’m going through, and some parts of this video are just pure magic. Like at 4:05...man I don’t know how you do it: the intensifying of the song just as you pass through the interchange and reveal the downtown L.A. skyline... it’s pure magic, I can’t help but feel so hyped up at that part, like as hyped up as a really cool scene in a movie would make me. You make it look so easy, I’ve tried doing videos like this and I can’t make them magical like yours. UA-cam doesn’t get any better than this video right here!
Thank you for sharing that, I'm truly glad you enjoy it so much, that's what the videos are here for, as for making it look easy? It's just a feel I guess, I just do what seems to make sense at the time when I'm putting things together.
I watch this video at least couple times a month for a year now :P. It's my fav episode along with these from Las Vegas. These 3 songs fits perfect here. I Hope someday i will visit U.S. Greetings from Poland!
Thank you very much, I hope you get to visit the US as well.
That is one beautiful city.
It’s been an absolute dream to drive on those pieces of the highway because every time I go to DisneyLand I use that highway but I haven’t gone as far as you have.
Thank you for watching!
That has always been one of my favorite drives in LA. And no matter how many times I have seen it, whenever downtown LA comes into view it is exciting. Kind of like coming out of the tunnel in 24W towards San Francisco, when SF suddenly appears on the horizon (I think you have a video of that somewhere too).
Thanks, the previous video (17-01) in fact.
Owe Jay amazing my friend, i Will go to lós Angeles next mouth and i Will do this way, thank for this beautiful vídeo
Great to see Los Angeles again! A nice selection of music as well, I did not know any of these songs :)
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic video as always! I just got back from LA and I remember doing a majority of this drive! That Stack and the Judge Harry interchange are absolute wonders to see in person!
Thanks Joe and indeed they are!
I would like to live there someday
!!!
you make great videos with good music
.
Everything in your videos are very great, I've watched several times
....
New Town velocity!!! Beautiful sky, road and city
Thank you!
Thank you, this kinda of stuff puts me in a chill mood.
You are most welcome and thank you for watching.
@@Freewayjim Well Jim, it's been a year, and I am in need or a stress release video. I will always return to this gem of a video, I'll never forget it. Feeling much better now. Thanks bro
@@tommyv4980 Thank you, glad I could help :)
@@Freewayjim You thought I forgot about this, didn't you? :) It's that time again..thanks Jim!
@@tommyv4980 Anytime ;)
Loved this video, I'm very familiar with the 110 freeway and the L.A./L.B. harbor area, and just to give you an update, the Gerald Desmon Bridge is nearing completion and should be opening up for traffic in early 2021.
Thank you! Yep it won't be long until the bridge is open.
The ports used to be the Naval Shipyard. Good memories from there and driving on that bridge was a daily trip/commute
Coming for the highways and the music. Loving the selection
I wish I can give this video (two likes), this was a very entertaining ride! I don't understand why people would dislike your video, evidently they don't see the quality or share the excitement when they view your work. Very nice Jim!!
Thank you, I was happy with how this one turned out.
Great remix video, Jim. The soundtrack for this one is very smooth and laid back. I even found myself drifting off a bit. Good thing you were doing the driving.
Looking forward to whatever you may have planned for this year's videos.
Thanks Daniel.
Phenomenal video, a piece of Art in itself, really enjoyed it - thanks from Oslo, Norway :)
Thank you very much for the kind words.
This is a bueatiful video sunset With Good music
Thank you very much!
Those tight on ramps and exit ramps remind me of Interstate 70 between Washington, PA and New Stanton, PA before PennDOT started to really reconstruct the interchanges.
Nice, and I love how you film this drive at dusk. A perfect day since there's hardly any clouds you get all the colors.
Thank you!
I really love the sky's color in this footage
Very beautiful. Very interesting. Thank you so much. I need to be there
Thank you for watching!
Toujours super GENIAL vos vidéo merci et salutations depuis la suisse
Thank you
I been watching this video for three years dreaming to visit LA one day in real life.
LA is one of my favorite cities, hope you get there and thank you for watching!
@@Freewayjim I was just in Los Angeles. Dream came true! I still can't believe I've been to LA! SO LUCKY
@@meerfaiaq Awesome! glad you got there.
Nice work as always. Pasadena freeway is like a timewarp.
Thank you very much for this calm ride. It's always nice to watch your videos! greetings from Israel
Thank you very much!
That was very nice and the sky was beautiful ! 5*
Thank you!
Great work guys, love it ... hope one day I'll visit LA!
Thanks.
Idk how I stumbled across your channel, & I certainly didn't think watching a video of someone driving would be interesting. Nevertheless, I clicked on this 1 (Native Californian. Lived in Highland Park. Been living in ATL. since 2003). So glad I did give this a chance! I watched it with my 17 year old son. And pointed out points of my own drive whilst pregnant with him. Brought back great memories that I was able to share with my son!!! Thank You!
Thank you for the great comment and for watching!
absolutely love your choice of music.
Thank you! much appreciated.
This is so cool😮 i love the sky i love this place i never seen such a beatiful sunset in My life❤
Thank you!
Awesomeness! Driving the 110 towards DTLA during sunset is classic California cruising at some of its finest. I envy you for the relative lack of traffic throughout..wish my driving experiences through LA were as easy as in this video, lol.
Thank you, after hearing all the horror stories about traffic I was surprised and relieved that it was what it was, did get stuck in it on the Hollywood Freeway later that night though.
wow the music is awesome with video.one of my new fav channels !!!!!!!!!! thanks
Thank you for the comment and for watching!
Very beautiful as always!
Thank you!
Very enjoyable. Thanks for posting
Thank you for watching.
Great remake! I miss the original, the second song from that is a favorite. The 110 became my favorite LA route due to how it varies. Wished for your lighting, my drive was dark.
Thank you, hopefully you'll get another shot at it in better lighting conditions.

All those lights. Beautiful.
They were, thank you.
This may be your best video. What a beautiful stretch of road.
Thanks, I appreciate that!
Beautiful remix. So nice to watch. Chris Isaak at the beginning--- such a fine choice. I watched it while running on the treadmill, I want to run more and watch it again...Wonderful video as always...
Thank you very much!
just found ur channel sir and subbed instantly.
Thanks, I appreciate that!
What is it about these videos that they are so soothing and pleasant to watch? Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
This is cool i like the pinkesh sky i can feel it from here great jop!
Thank you!
Greatly appreciate the video Jim
Thanks Bubba.
The 110 feels like the Saw Mill/Henry Hudson Parkways of the west.
I really like how some of your videos are calm while others are more fast paced
Thanks, that's on purpose, I don't want them to all look and feel the same.
Freewayjim yea like this and sensory overload are very different
this really is an excellent video.
+Asphalt Planet, All of His Videos are : )
An interesting area for sure with a lot of places seen in the movies. Not sure that I would want to live in CA, but I enjoy visiting.
Good remake Jim - glad that it's out there again.
Thank you and thanks for song #2, after 3+ years I finally used it.
To be honest this video is the coolest sunset video ive seen
Thank you! I appreciate that.
nice video! i like the sunset very cool to see😍
Thank you!
Nice video! thanks for sharing... ✌🏼😋
Thank you for watching!
Awesome video! Excellent music!
Thank you very much!
Just love the pinkish, purple sky mixed with a blueish hue ! I LOVE ❤️ the night California sky and the way you captured that in your video along with the ride as well! You make great riding videos and pay attention to details and very well done!! Are you familiar and have you driven what’s known as the Y or El Toro exchange on I-5? I enjoy watching your videos and the music!!
Freeway Jim people dont realize the sheer size of l.a. until u drive it. It seems like you were driving n the 110 for hours lol! And thats jus the 110 smh crazy!!!
Another great video😍🤗
Thank you!
Drove around LA in Dec and liked it so much I went back last month to drive the PCH. PS - JOHNNY MARR!
I lived in South Pasadena in 2014-15, right behind the water treatment plant where the video begins. I believe that stretch of the 110 (up to Fair Oaks) was Route 66 for a while.
Yes it was, thanks for watching!
I love this place
nice view and very useful
Thank you!
Driving in NJ if I had a dollar for every time I've seen that move at 10:25. Great job as always!!
Thanks, lol.
Rand McNally's Road Atlases still label the Arroyo Seco as the Pasadena Freeway, even though it hasn't been officially named that in over 10 years.
You are correct, weird!
This is so cool❤
Thank you!
One thing I don't miss about the old Pasadena/Arroyo Seco fwy are the insanely short exit/entrance ramps.
I could be wrong but the section of the 110 that went under the Pregerson (and on down to LAX) is where the iconic chase scene in Heat involving DeNiro & Pacino began.....
love the vids
Thanks
What a good video this is, Jim. If I'm not wrong, there was one more video from Ventura to Pasadena titled 'The Roads to Pasadena.' I can't find that video. Did you take it down?
Thank you, the copyright police took that video down unfortunately.
Amazing video..I loved it..very cool..BD
Thank you very much!
I love the first song! 😍😚❤❤
Great remix Jim. Sorry your original vision got muted, but this laid-back soundtrack and extended drive more than made up for it.
Thank you very much, had enough time to think about how to re-work it I suppose :)
What is the max allowed speed on this route (I'm from Europe) and how long does it take you to get to the ports?
Great Job Jim. You really are the king of the comeback this year. I've actually stayed in Pasadena when i went to LA 3 years ago. Have you thought about where you want to go this year?
Thank you James, I don't have anything set yet for this year, some things I'm thinking about but it's been a crazy year so far. If I do go somewhere it may not be until late July or August.
Again, another birthday ride along like the New York run.
The Arroyo Seco Pkwy reminds me of the NY parkways.
Superb
10:25 - cop didn't see you, you didn't do it...
Great video. Looking forward to more this year...
LOL, indeed and thanks.
Freewayjim meh, cops probably have much larger fish to fry than simply busting someone driving around 4x-ish!
If you were driving a semi, however, that alone would most likely put you MUCH higher up on Highway Patrol's shit list for some reason... idk exactly why... someone else willing to clarify???
This was a good one.
Thank you!
+Will Boyd, Great Profile Picture!
Hi Jim I'm a new fan to your channel absolutely love every video!!! I'm planning a cross country trip from DMV area to LA via I-40 any suggestions of interesting stops along that route?
Thank you for watching! as for the route you are taking, any of the old Route 66 towns are interesting to see and celebrate the old road, the best ones I've stopped at would be Williams and Seligman in Arizona. Big Texan Steakhouse in Amarillo Texas is also a fun "tourist trap". Sounds like an awesome trip, safe travels!
@@Freewayjim Thanks so much for those suggestions we will for sure go to the steak house in Amarillo!!
@@ajonesa1231 Awesome, hope you have a good time there, it's right off I-40, you can't miss it.
Sensational ride as usual. Of the 4 or 5 videos i've seen of yours, they've been largely soundtracked with US Country or Americana but track 2 stood out as sounding different and more to own my taste (UK indie/alternative/dance) so was pleasantly surprised that it was Johnny Marr. Sounds like his work with New Order's Bernard Sumner as "Electronic". Never got around to buying The Messenger album. Chris Isaak is a God for completely different reasons.
Thanks, I really don't use country/americana very often (unless we have very different definitions of those genres), I like to think I have a nice mix of classic rock, hard rock, jazz, dance/electronic, alternative, R&B, pop and oldies, I've even used rap in two videos. Glad you liked it just the same.
I clearly need to watch more of your videos in that case! No time like the present :-)
It’s the “Gone in 60 Seconds” green bridge!
A good video like always. 😁
Thank you
On your trips to LA, did you also drive through Sepulveda Boulevard, by the In-n-Out near LAX??
No I did not.
I'm love your vds. is very good.
Thank you
Various segments are very familiar to me. Other segments are yet to be explored (someday). Hope we can get back to LA before too much more time passes, it's been 4 years since my last 2 trips in 2013 (June and August).
Great tunage, too!
Thank you, hope we both get chances to get back there, so much to explore.

Yes, same here.

excellent
Thank you very much!
Nice video, got any ideas on the 2017 trip?
Thanks, no, not yet, real life is very hectic (not all bad) right now.
awesome video
Thank you!
Correction: That's an LA Metro Green Line(AKA Light Rail) station. Metrolink is LA's commuter rail.(AKA Big diesel commuter train) Huge ass difference.
Gerald Desmond Bridge still not replaced with the new one. Only a few sections of the replacement bridge have been built as of now.
Yeah I saw it, was there in late July, new video coming next month.
how do you create the road sign overlays in the video?
+BlackCloud-DC, is it the Real Signs or the signs he made?
The second song fits very well with the landscape and sunset. The interchange from 6:40 to 6:58 looks cool, but I'm not sure it can hold a candle to the interchange at I-635 and US-75 in Dallas. :)
Thanks, It more than holds a candle, those interchanges are 1 and 1A above the rest for sure, seen em both up close and driven them in almost every direction. I love them both but saying one is better than the other is basically a coin flip. Both have ramps that are 120 feet above the lowest level at their highest points.
