Petra Means Rock
One of my favorite songs ever, Christian or secular. These lyrics ring so true. We as Christians are so prone to falling asleep and becoming complacent, and it always takes a divine kick in the nuts to rattle our cages and bring us back to consciousness

I have to agree. Bob knew just what to say through Petra's music, and he knew when to say it! Petra wasn't always about just love. They were about all of the Holy Bible. All of it!!!

This song talks about the Church asleep in its apathy getting a wake up call. I really liked it because years before, my cousin who is a amateur song writer wrote something of a wake up call song, but it never was published. It was geared toward evangelism. He titled it "Urgent"

To all the interpreters, the album came out in '93 and it was to the church in general according to Ronny Cates himself. It's not about the USA or anything political. Almost all Petra song titles are expressions and cliches, like "Sleeping Giant." One of my favorite riffs to play on guitar any day!!!

Proof there were a few good Christian bands in the 90s.
My Dad use to play this in the car years and years ago. For some reason I always thought it was a different group singing it. Maybe the one he played was or my youthful mind just didn't pick up on it.
This song was written by Petra. I think it might have been written by either Bob Hartman or John Schlitt.

My dad used to complain about their change in sound in the 90s. I personally prefer unseen power and wake up call to most of their 70s and 80s discography.
