I think the appeal to most people is the fact that she was, for the most part, fan-generated and what was once an animation glitch in the first episode was turned into a canonical character with an actual name and voice. This sort of thing doesn't happen very often with other fan bases

I started rewatching Doctor Who recently and it made me realize again that a huge part of the charm of the show is that you can just put the Doctor in any situation and he will just work with the surroundings.
And I came back here because I drifted off to "oh yeah even when they put him into MLP:FiM it was super charming" lol
I think EVERY episode of this show should be animated!
This by itself almost makes me want to watch the real Doctor Who. :)

I don't think he does. When twilight went to the human world she was automatically human-ified. I think it works the other way around, too. That's why he didn't know he was a pony. He checks himself out when he regenerates. But it would be cool to see the doctor regen into doctor whooves.

So I figure the reason why Earth Ponies and Pegasi are able to pick things up (Octavia being able to use a bow for her cello, for example) is because they too have magic, only theirs is applicable only through their hooves through direct contact. Unicorns are only a step above Earth ponies because their horn acts as a conduit for their inner magic, hence they're able to psychically manipulate objects without touching them.

As someone whose teen cousin recently had something similar to an aneurysm, with literal bubbles in the brain bursting, that is extremely dark. The Doctor is basically suggesting that Derpy's Cutie Mark is marking her for possible early death.
