I don’t give a damn about my “Bad Reputation !” That was the tune at the very beginning.
Great song! It was also the theme for the show, "Freaks and Geeks."
I wouldn’t play it either, as it’s pretty silly and punky…I always changed the channel if it ever came on!
That’s my fave Joan Jett song ♥️
I loved her performance with Foo Fighters on Letterman a few years back!
ua-cam.com/video/ObIDG21qMp8/v-deo.html
@@kjmorley that was freakin awesome! Thanks for that!
"Do You Wanna Touch" is another amazing song of hers,..nice job as always
My absolute favorite!!!!
yes!! Here's the link - ua-cam.com/video/IPTIAtqfyME/v-deo.html
Yaasssss!!!!!
"Do you wanna touch" isn't actually hers. The song was originally done by Gary Glitter. But no doubt, Joan Jett did an incredible version of it.
Joan is still around and still gorgeous
More Joan Jett? You gotta do her signature song, “Bad Reputation” Joan is amazing!
"I Love Rock N Roll" is actually her signature. "Bad Reputation" has really only grown in popularity the last few years partly due to Ronda Rousey using it as her entrance theme on Monday Night Raw
Bad reputation was playing on the juke box as Joan entered the bar.
I first heard Bad Reputation when watching the first Shrek movie
@@LilRocker2005 My first intro to Bad Reputation was on the short lived but now cult classic tv show, Freaks and Geeks
@@Jovixgal oh nice! I freaking loved that show!
Love Joan Jett. This brings me back to my high school days. It came out in 1981 I think. Heart, Joan Jett and Pat Benatar showed us girls we could be rockers too!
I was in a bar when this was played on the big screen for the first time. The whole bar watched and rocked out, no one could take their eyes off it
Yes. Suzi Quatro was an early rocker you havent looked at yet. Maybe the first of her kind and she wore leather. :) Devil Gate Drive. Can the can
“The Wild One”
Leather Tuscadero.
@@beulahbowman6208
On Happy days
Just suggested Suzy too. Hope they give her a listen.
Leather Tuscadaro 🥰
Joan Jett and the Runaways - "Cherry Bomb" a MUST!!!
YAASSSS!
She got rejected by 23 major record companies due to her association with The Runaways. So Joan and her manager created their own record label, and one album later, Joan gets a monster number one hit with I Love Rock and Roll. Those 23 record companies I'm sure kicked themselves for passing her up.
NO KIDDING!!!
This was probably her most popular but PLEASE try "Do You Wanna Touch Me"
Joan Jett is SO Cool !!
Good one
Gold
Definitely that’s her best.
Now it's time for The Runaways - "I love playing with fire".
Cherry Bomb!
Joan Jett & Lita Ford 👍 "Neon Angels On the Road to Ruin" comes to mind. 🤘
80s IS SO AWESOME
Chrissie Hynde in the Pretenders is another great rock chick.
Forgot about Chrissie! Another bad ass rocker!✌❤
Hell yeah!!! She’s a bad ass rocker for sure. ✌️💗😊
Yes! Chrissie is from Cuyahoga Falls Ohio! Please check out " My City Was Gone".
as long as they react to my city was gone. i love that song
“Brass in Pocket”!
You mentioned liking red leather on Billy Idol. A popular late 70s/early 80s group called the Romantics also wore red leather suits. Their biggest hit was "What I Like About You" from 1979/80.
Talking In Your Sleep was my favorite
Ah, roller skating music. I miss those days and being at the rink.
Y'all have got to do Heart for Female Friday's - 'Magic Man', 'Crazy on You' & 'Barracuda' are the 3 to pick from for hard rockin out.
Joan Jett was one of my idols in high school. That was in the mid-late 70s. And she's still rocking it just as hard.
One suggestion, try out The Runaways “Cherry Bomb”. Joan Jett was a founding member of that group along with Cheri Curry and Lita Ford. Speaking of Lita Ford, try out her song “Kiss Me Deadly”, it really shows both her singing abilities and her skills on the guitar. She is considered the best female guitarist in history.
Seconding Lita Ford, and let's not forget Lita's duet with Ozzie Osbourne(!), "Close My Eyes Forever"!
Was going to say that too
Anything from. The runaways
My thoughts exactly !!
Cherry Bomb for sure! The Runaways' version! 🍒 💣
The music Grandmas are rocking out to today! LOL!
Joan Jett is on Rolling Stone's 100 best guitarists list.
Wow i’ve been waiting for Joan Jett, now you got to check out Lita Ford’s kiss me deadly
And her duet with Ozzy Osbourne Close My Eyes Forever is one of my favorites!
Lita Ford and Ozzy Osbourne. Great song
Yes. If anyone could be listed alongside Joan Jett, it's Lita Ford. Ironically, before she hit it big, Joan Jett was in an all-female band called The Runaways when she was just a teenager. One of her bandmates was Lita Ford. The Runaways' signature hit was "Cherry Bomb", which you should also check out!
Lita is actually better known for her guitar playing than singing. She's considered the best female guitarist of all time by many.
@@morningcoffeebreak7367 Maybe, and I love Lita Ford. But IMO Nancy Wilson of Heart is the best female guitarist of all time. And one of the top guitarists of all time - male or female.
The rockers today like Joan Jett are still named Joan Jett. She's amazing.
joan jett and the blackhearts crismon and clover you will love it
For another Female Friday you should pull up Aretha Frankin’s “Respect”
Or her duet with George Michael- I knew you were waiting
Yes, Respect!!
Also Aretha Franklin and George Michael doing KNEW YOU WERE WAITING. Interesting note, Otis Redding who you reacted to ( Dock of the Bay) wrote the song RESPECT. Also a great suggestion.
Dr. Feelgood, her cover of The Weight and Bridge over troubled water, Natural Woman…I need to stop before I just start listing her catalog 🤪
Next female Friday: Evanescence- My Immortal and Jewel- who will save your soul.
Jewel, such a unique voice.
Omg yes! Jewels “yodel” to her voice and Amy Lee’s voice are so unique and beautiful!!!!
Jewel “Foolish Games”
You have good taste in music
@@mrkinak3160 I like to think I good taste in music. I pretty much like and appreciate all genres of music.
A Powerhouse of rock talent.
Hey guys,
Another vote for "Crimson and Clover." Imo better than the original.
IMO Tommy James the ORIGGINTOR Is the NUKE
@@theodoreritola9758 Although I really dig JJ's cover of Crimson and Clover, I have to agree, Tommy James' version is my favorite...
Sorry it was a good cover but better , no
@@thorsluter7835 MINE TO
This song transcends the 80s, it's timeless!
Joan Jett’s Idol is Suzie Quatro and who is still rocking it today
I was just about to suggest they watch Devil Gate Drive
@@TracyJane67 I would suggest Daytona Demon
I've been talking to a brick wall trying to get these reaction channels to react to Suzi. Her documentary, SUZI Q, is fantastic.
Leather Tuscadero!😉
Joan is still out there too
hahaha.... That was fantastic to see you guys react to "I Love Rock-n-Roll"! I love what you said about Joanie being gorgeous yet tough.... That's what hooked me WAY back in 1982 when I was a 12 year old kid. I was mesmerized so much I started a fan club and from that point on, a LOT of my life has been Joan Jett. I've seen her live in concert 152 times (since 1982) and as a matter of fact, #153 will be August 8th in Nashville, TN. Only 8 days away..... Thanks for this reaction vid. I always get a kick out of it!
Lita Ford and Joan Jett were in a group together called Runaways...Lita Ford is just as hard rockin' as Joan for sure!! Listen to Lita's "Kiss Me Deadly". She's BEAUTIFUL too!!
I'm a musician and I have found Lita Ford in her solo career to be the hardest rocking female! In the early days Joan Jett and Lita Ford were in an all female band called the Runaways!
Yeah and they made the famous song Cherry Bomb
I saw her in concert, All I can say is WOW! Unforgettable.
If you’re going to start doing movies the Runaways must be on your list.
lol... I was gonna mention that too.
Good movie. No clue how accurate it is, but it is a good movie. It isn't specific about Joan Jett, it's more about the overall relationship between all the girls in the band and what not, but you do get some decent Joan Jett stuff.
@@ar47yrr4p I think they focused too much on Joan & Cherie.
@@ar47yrr4p Joan was executive producer on the movie and it was based on Cherie Currie's book "Neon Angel"
To anyone who says that Kristen Stewart can't act, "The Runaways" is one of the ones I throw out as an example of a good performance by her
Guys if you love Joan Jett you MUST react to Suzy Quattro. She was Joan's inspiration to become a rock star
Yes. Somewhere on here is a vid of the sisters band she was in, The Pleasure Seekers. Over the top crazy stuff. I actually liked them better than the management-planned band and relatively tame lyrics the British starmakers gave her (she's originally American, but became famous in the UK first).
Still. Suzy is the quintessential tough girl rockstar.
@@jamesredman1263 I beg to differ. She was Leather's sister on Happy Days.
I saw her live in 2022 with Poison, Motley Crue, and Def Leppard. She was still amazing!
This song definitely was an 80’s anthem! I remember rocking to this partying on weekends with all my girlfriends as we cruised town!! Lol
Im so excited you both are into my music from when I was growing up !! This is so great!!
I was 11 years old when this came out and have been singing along ever since! Take a listen to Cherry Bomb by The Runaways. Five super rocking women including Joan Jett.
Cha cha cha cha Cherry Bomb 💣 ❤❤❤
Got news for you she's never stopped she still tours she still is beautiful still looks the same and she's in her sixties
99 Luftballoons by Nena. Another 80's classic w/ German lyrics.
a version with english lyrics is avaible as well: "99 red ballons" by nena.
There's Patti Smith, Debbie Harry, Stevie Nicks, but as "tough" as Joan Jett, probably not. Love her.
I love her also, but "tough" females,,, there is only Wendy o Williams.
Don't forget Lita Ford!
Your all forgetting Pat Benatar !!!
@@majh8red that’s right brother. I told them they need to play, “Kiss me deadly”
@@iceman1833 Lita is THEE goddess among Queens! Great song!!!
The 80s my college years! Love it!
She is an amazing performer. I fell in love with her years ago, she likes everybody which makes me love her more.
Yay! Excited for this one, thanks so much. 🙂
Try Crimson and Clover, or Love is All Around ( Mary Tyler Moore show theme song remake. Amazing!)
We had Suzi Quatro in the UK In the 70s. She was amazing ! Devil Gate Drive is a good one.
Joan Jett is still around playing small venues and casinos. She still looks great!
Stevie Nicks Heart Magic Man...... She's a Rock Classy Lady!
Tina Turner doesn’t get enough credit for being a rocker: Steel Claw, 1984, Might’ve Been Queen. She just killed it!
Her Wembley gig (might be 2008) is a great example. Endless energy, even when her much younger dancers are visibly flagging.
Nutbush City Limits. My favorite Tina song.
@@jaxonuop7748 No doubt!!! My absolute favorite Tina song. We did a non-country line dance written by Yvonne Anderson to this song that always brought down the house❤! Burned up that dance floor 🔥🔥🔥!
@@awmperry watch that concert frequently, good call.
Yup
Tina Turner, The Queen of Rock
You guys should react to "Cherry Bomb", by Joan's first band, The Runaways.
was hoping someone would bring up the The Runaways, see how it all got started.
Joan Jett is underrated. ✌🌻🌻
She’s on tour next year with Def Leppard, Poison, and Motley Crue!
Love Joan this first time i seen the video in color I remember the video on MTV was always black n white
Definitely time to check out the Runaways. Before Joan Jett want solo that was her all female teen rock band. Cherry Bomb is a must!
So mediocre
This takes me back to the 80's at the skating rink on friday nights. Such good memories. I love you guys reactions to all of these great old hits. Female fridays are the best!!
Love Joan Jet 1981. Another pick would be the all girl band from the 80's The Bangles either Manic Monday or Walk Like an Egyptian
That intro is her hit Bad Reputation, she got her start with the all female rock group The Runaways.
1982 Senior Class Song--- 2800 students screaming this at our final assembly, damn i'm old!!
That song at the beginning of the video was "Bad Reputation" by Joan Jett and the Black Hearts (her band). Smash mouth rock, almost punk style! Great artist!
Joan Jett is the queen
Also check out Lita Ford. She was in the Runaways with Joan Jett. She has a great duet with Ozzy Osborne called “Close my Eyes Forever”.
The song at the beginning "Bad Reputation", is awesome!
Joan has the most BEAUTIFUL eyes ever!!!!
Bad Reputation was the opening song,it was Rhonda Rousey’s walk in song,in both the UFC and WWE.
If you are looking for someone today that is similar, the first two that come to mind quickly are Pink and Grace Potter.
Joan Jett changed the game when it came to women rockers! She truly is a Rock n Roll icon.
Wrong. Suzi Quatro came before her. Jett copies Quatro.
Have always loved this!!
Watch Suzi Quatro. She’s Joan Jet’s idol. “Can the Can” or “Devils Gate Drive”.
Suzie Quatro bass solo.
also "If You Can't Give Me Love"
Your Momma Won’t Like Me or Daytona Demon
Yes. Would also love some Suzi! Beside the others mentioned, "48 Crash" and "Tear Me Apart" among many others
I love rock n roll so put another dime in the jukebox baby
"Bad Reputation" is the song playing at the beginning. I also recommend "Do You Wanna Touch Me".
This takes me back to the spring of 1982 soon after this was released, being in Myrtle Beach playing Galaxian and this song would come on. Good times.
Loved goin to the conveniance store and playing those games. Remember when pinball was a dime? Asteroids and Galaga.
Joan Jett is a badass.
This is a cover , Original by The Arrows.
No. This isn't. She covered "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap", by AC/DC.
LOL. Ok
@@RayfordRaySiegel Yeah, Yeah. I fixed it. Typing before thinking.
Joan Jett is the Queen of Cover Songs
He's right this is originally sung by the Arrows in 1976. But Joan Jett did a lot of covers even in The runaways she's sang mama mama we're all crazy now by Slade.
This was the first record I ever bought with my own money as a kid. Love Joan Jett!!
"Is there a harder female rocker?" I think Pat Benetar gives her a run for her money, but Joan is amazing.
I 2nd the motion.
Lita Ford has to be in that conversation.
@@jmurdock7650 I was going to say Lita Ford, glad I looked.
"Is there a harder female rocker?" Yes, there is. Joan Jett's idol... Suzi Quatro.
Suzi Quatro has to be way up there, she's Joan's Idol!
My ringtone.Love it!!
I love this song.
I'd say that Melissa Etheridge and Lita Ford would fit into this category.
Melissa Ethridge is amazing my all time favorite ❤ 😍 ♥
Good call on Melissa Etheridge, she is definitely a hard rockin star. Great voice. RSR should check out Bring Me Some Water!
YES!!!!
MELISSA ETHRIDGE!!!!
Anything from her "Brave and Crazy" album would be awesome!!!
I would chose "No Souvenirs " .
"You Can Sleep While I Drive" is a similar idea to Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car" and would be a great fit for this channel.
But the best Rock song is "BRAVE AND CRAZY" (imho).
❤🧡💛💚💚💙
Finally some others who mention Melissa Etheridge! Also a lot of reactors seem to not only overlook her but also Jewel who is an amazing singer/songwriter!
I hope they'll go outside the females that everyone else reacts to. The other's are awesome as well but there's a lot more artists who get lost in the mix.
Thank you!✌❤🎶😁
@@jackiesueann3476 I haven't seen anyone react to the Indigo Girls yet. They have a good variety of great folk/rock.
My favorite 3 albums :
Indigo Girls
Rites of Passage
Nomads, Indians, and Saints
For anyone who loves folk music, try Kate Wolf. Her performance on Austin City Limits is here on YT.
MTV was relatively new, and this video BLEW UP!
No one's mentioned Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart! Mid to late 70's melodic and hard rock, and one of the great bands of the time.
You guys really need to do "Weird Al" Yankovic's parody of this song: "I Love Rocky Road". It's a hoot!
I was gonna say that too 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is actually a cover. A band called The Arrows first released this song in 1975.
Love this Song & The Beautiful Gorgeous Woman Singing It ❤❤❤
I love singing this song, gets the crowd on their feet!
Bass player started with Todd Rundgren. Great!
Try Alannah Myles song "Black Velvet".....you will love it
I love this sh#% i went to high school ifrom 74 to 78. Gtew up on yhis stuff, she was awesome!,,,,,,,
Another Female Friday recommendation: 1) Lisa Stansfield - All Around the World or 2) Lisa Stansfield - All Woman
I love Lisa Stansfield.
One of the great Queens of Rock!
PAT Benatar, "hit me with you best shot." Or "Promises in the Dark"
I would also add “Hell is for Children “ to the Pat Benatar list.
"I grew up in a world that said women can't play rock n roll." -- Joan Jett.
You should react to “can the can” by Suzi Quatro. She is the first female rocker that started it all and whose style Joan Jet borrowed from. She’s not very well known here in the States but in England she was huge.
Can The Can and Devil Gate Drive
She is known as Leather Tuscedaro, Pinky's sister on Happy Days. I know her from that.
She still tours and rocks hard in Australia....She waz definately the first! And I love 'Ya Mamma won't like me'
@@papamaniac2410 She was Pinkies cousin wasn't she? Oh ok I just looked that up and yep you are right they were sisters. :)
Suzi wasn't the first the runaways were way before her Joan Jett and Lita ford were both in that group
Heart open the doors to female vocalists in the 1970's. Ann and Nancy Wilson are pioneers in the industry.
Y'all should react to Weird Al's parody- "I Love Rocky Road"
I was just thinking about that, a little bit ago.
You should react to any Weird Al parodies. You’ve already covered some of the originals that inspired his best work.
@@AStullken,
You're predict text must have messed up. It put "I've", where "of" should be.
Yeah. "Amish Paradise" is definitely one that they should hear.
@@RayfordRaySiegel thanks, plus, I’m really nearsighted so I miss errors easy.
That song playing on the jukebox before I Love Rock & Roll comes on is Bad Reputation.
Joan Jett was in a band called the runaways in the mid to later.70's with guitarist Lita Ford they had a good song called Cherry bomb !!!
The Arrows
Alan Merrill wrote "I Love Rock 'N' Roll" for his band The Arrows and recorded it in 1975. In a tribute post on Twitter Sunday night, Jett recalled hearing the song for the first time. She recorded it in 1982 and it became her biggest hit, shooting to No. 1 for eight weeks on the U.S. charts.
The song that was playing at the very beginning of the video before she walks in, is Joan Jett as well with the song Bad Reputation. I saw her in concert about 10 years ago and the woman still rocks!
One of the greatest Rock tunes ever!
Because you asked if there were rocker women now, check out Arch Enemy, first song I heard form them was "War Eternal" Very heavy, and you will be shocked when you hear the female singer the first time!
To explore real cool female rockers y'all are going to have to check out some punk rock girls. Siouxsie Sue of Siouxsie and the Banshees helped invent punk rock. She taught Sid Viscious how to play guitar. Check out her live performance of "Love in a Void" from 1979 on the british TV show Something Else. The bass guitarist and drummer are incredible and Siouxsie Sue exudes punk swag. She is an Iconic female rocker.
The Commitments taught us something...some songs about about Thrusting your Pelvis at One Time Or Another...but IT HAPPENED!!! The BEAT ALWAYS PLAYS and the "middle parts of people rocked on..."... Anyone who doesn't agree with this can unlike my comment...this song still makes my juices run... Rock ON!!!
