    I've had my eye on one of these for months now. The way you use it is so intuitive from the audio production sense. So inspiring!

    It's really cool! It's worthwhile noting that all these can be assigned to letter keys on your keyboard as well though which is equally timesaving

    I use my streamdeck with Ableton Live 11. Have a few pages of midi->daw for some basic things (freeze / flatten / consolidate / open vst on selected channel etc. )
    Works SO well!

    Looks nice. For Cubase only i can also recommend the Expertkeys EK-84 keyboard. There is also a Cubase Video about it here on YT.

    Great video and great deck!. Does it work well with the new midi remote system of Cubase? Or it works by the old generic remote? Think to by Elgato but don't know. Hope for your answer! Thanks 🙏

    I was considering this myself when it initially launched but ended up with a slightly different approach and went with a Razer Tartarus v2 with customized macros. I do miss the customizable icons but on the other hand I get a better feel.

      How do you know which button does what? without the display, it feels a little counter-intuitive, at that point we may as well just use the hotkey combinations, maybe I misunderstand something

      @@DashGlitch Hey Dash, good question - you learn it very similarly as you would a normal keyboard - its the same feeling as typing without looking:) My left hand usually remains stable on the razer. FL user here - I have have assigned keyboard shortcuts on the razer to create new midi channels, assign midi channels in the mixer, copy paste, cut paste, delete, select all, loop etc. A few buttons on the razer "emulate" a real keyboard eg top left button is ESC and bottom left is CTRL. Basically I have assigned all my usual keyboard shortcuts on the razer and i need a full keyboard only when I need to give a channel a name. Its like a mini substitute. Hope its clear now:)

    I've been looking into getting one of these for years, I've been worried how often I'd actually use it
    I prefer something like elgato for those reasons you mentioned, tactile feel, being able to "memorize" buttons mentally
    not having to load an app, find your phone, charge your phone, etc
    my biggest concern is how often I'd use something like this
    I'm trying to nail key commands already
    I think it makes a lot of sense in cubase as you can assign like automated processes if I'm not mistaken
    seems insanely powerful
    might be nice for logic too as there's an insane amount of key commands
    my other concern with streamdeck is creating logos for everything, the text per key is just too small to be useful imo
    and not only is setting up everything already a big chore, but making nice icons would be another layer
    it'd be worth it in the long run

    • @HammyHavoc
      @HammyHavoc Рік тому +1

      Not a Stream Deck user, but just letting you know that there's templates you can buy that have a hundreds of commands already added, including icons. Mulling it currently versus just learning the keystrokes, and/or using a touchscreen.

    What is the Cubase plugin for Stream Deck that you use ? Is it native from Elgato or is some third party (free/payed) plugin ? Thanks for the video ! Thinking to getting this to improve my Cubase workflow !

    You can flip monitor vertically and stack those floating windows in column, no need to switch between.

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  2 роки тому

      I have 3 screens, and use multiple windows already. Vertical arrangement sucks as it resizes what I need to monitor, making the screen pointless

    Cubase can also be completely controlled via Midi, e.g. via the Mackie Control Protocol or Cubase Remote with Midi Control commands. Stream Deck supports this with Midi plug-ins... but you don't use that?
    I'm not sure where I continue to use the keyboard with the appropriate shortcuts or where Stream Deck has its advantage.... Do you have a tip?

    Hello,thank you for your high quality videos . I just wanted to know if it was possible to open a vst with the Streamdeck. If yes, how? THANKS

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  6 місяців тому

      do you mean press a button and add a plugin to the selected channel? it depends if your DAW supports this as a hotkey, then yes

    Can anyone attest to the functionality on Windows vs Mac? I've seen some stuff that looked really cool but was for Mac only. I'm still kind of confused by the whole thing, haha, but it seems very intriguing! Thanks for the great video

    Does the Stream deck work with the new Cubase 12 Midi Remote or just with generic remote?

    Es gibt so viele DAW-Controller apps für iPad. Es reicht dafür ein gebrauchtes iPad 2. Ich finde die iPad-Variante ist funktioneller und vielseitiger als dieses StreamDeck.

    What commands are you using to populate MIDI with 16th notes? I assume it's using the logical editor? Thanks!

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  2 роки тому +1

      It's a series of hotkeys, strung together in the macro editor. I believe it was, select all - duplicate then repeat several times :)

    Hello i have an important question . Could we just load a plugin . On a track ? . I know it is possible in ableton but i don t know on cubase .
    I also could open and close a plugin for exemple pro q or ozone ect... by triggering a button on the streamdeck . Really simple but game changer . If it could i buy it ! Do you know that ? Thanks

    • @DashGlitch

      @@louloup4246 lou I'm quite sure that this is not possible in Cubase. My favorite method (quickest) is to hit my shortcut "E" for channel settings to pop up and then double click the insert slot. At least you don't have to wander through the left inspector and waste time

    Hi Dash, I would like to start making music with Cubase 10 and looking for a Midi-Controller incl. Keyboard (25 keys) for an easy use in Cubase without hours of configuration especially the controller mapping to change vst parameter. Could you recommend something? Cheers from Hamburg, Germany

    • @MOSMASTERING
      @MOSMASTERING 3 місяці тому

      Hi, I teach music production and engineering. I can help you with some suggestions if you're still looking? How is learning Cubase 10 going for you? I see its been updated now to Cubase 13.. but it will be 99% the same.
      Anway, for a cheap mini controller that does everything - you can't go wrong with the Arturia Minilab. It's got Keyboard keys, knobs, buttons and sliders for pitch-bend or curved style automation such as panning or volume.
      It is automatically detected, so no drivers. A lot of VSTi's have right click > midi learn on their controls - then you just touch once what you want it mapped to on the Arturia and it's done.
      One of my favourite instruments for this is Spire. Right click > midi learn on any of the knobs or controls and it makes the instrument sound SO much more natural and expressive when you control aspects of it manually. I feel like using the sequencer in Cubase with quantise or snap on the majority of your workflow gives your tracks a far more robotic feel. Just using your hands for the odd function here and there can really give life to a track.

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  2 роки тому

      Sadly you can’t export Cubase macros, they’re saved in the key commands

    • @brightonbackgammon7802
      @brightonbackgammon7802 2 роки тому

      Hey @Dash Glitch Thanks for replying so quickly.
      - you are quite right - macros are saved in the key commands file. (Key Commands.xml)
      The good news is, I had a poke around the Cubase directory and it should be quite simple to share
      Location of the Key Commands.xml file:
      C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\\Key Commands.xml
      so in my case it was:
      C:\Users\Dwayne\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Cubase 12_64\Key Commands.xml
      Please can you upload a link to this file to your Patreon or somewhere we can access it?
      I just bought a Stream Deck XL and keen to follow your super-cool workflows!
