  • Explaining the difference between Direct Acting vs Pilot Operated Pressure Relief Valve with the Help of Animation
A Pressure Relief Valve Or Reducing Valve is used to discharge the hydraulic fluid back to the reservoir tank when the pressure in the hydraulic circuit rises above the preset pressure level.
A Direct Acting Pressure Relief Valve is generally a Single Stage valve, whereas Pilot Operated Relief Valve is double stage valve.
In a Pilot Operated Relief Valve there is a Main Poppet and a Pilot Poppet, the Pilot Poppet opens when pressure rises above the preset limit, whereas the Main Poppet generally opens during the over pressure situation only.
