Hey- for people curious about this, this video is actually a much earlier draft/performance of a poem that is ALSO on Button's channel with the full title "poem for the first day of the poetry unit in language arts class" (which is also in my Button-published book). If you watch both, you can see a little bit of the revision process-some lines stay the same, others get cut, others move to other poems.

I just found this outer space version, Its cool to see this one with a new theme. I think the original one goes harder though! Especially everything between the lines of "your job is not to look up and imagine, your job is to look down and laugh" and "rise off the ground and meet the sky" because it challenges the way we might idolize or envy things that are "above" ourselves, and it's such an original and philosophical way to empower people to step into their own beauty using their own authenticity.
