If I'm not wrong this is the same port released in for NEC PC-9801. It was one of the ports most praised by Jordan Mechner in the 1990. In "The Making of Prince of Persia" he says: "Saw the new NEC 9801 Prince from Japan. It's beautiful. It blew me away. What a great feeling. As Lance said: "It's like seeing the movie verson of a book you wrote.""
Thanks for mentioning. I didn't know about this version but it's quite impressive. I played a few versions of this game over the years. My uncle had a NEC PC in the early 90's. Very nice computer.
Some times i prefer the soundtrack of this version over the SEGA CD version that was based in the first asian PoP from the PC 98. Unfortunately, this PC Engine CD version has some poor and less accurate controls (General physic and the sword fight engine don't plays exactly like the original) than the SEGA CD version.
Oh wow. I remember playing a version of this ages ago on a commodore64. They went all out with trying to give the world and its inhabitants some sort of weight and heft. A pretty crazy endeavor at the time. I wonder if this version has the potion rooms of copy protection.
Nostalgia !!! 29 now, but I remember playing the hell out of this game back then. I don't think I made it to even level 3, lol. I just remember being stuck at a certain point and not knowing where to go. AWESOME !!!
I've played pretty much every version of the original Prince of Persia game and this one is hands down the absolute best port. The music is so good. Sega CD one is pretty good too, but the PC Engine one is still my favorite.
I favor most the SNES version. Good music, nice graphics, and extended gameplay full of new and interesting levels. Also cool fight with Jaffar at the end.
IllidanS4 yeah, that one is a great version too. It's almost an entirety different game, though. The PC Engine version is very close to the original game
The Mega-CD version has much better sound than the PC Engine CD version. Nicer sound fx thanks to the system's multi-PCM channels (while the PC Engine CD add-on only has one ADPCM channel) and plays CD music during the battle sequences while it's chiptunes on PC Engine CD. Also the Mega-CD version has music in a more appropriate order IMO (it's inverted on PC Engine). The Mega-CD version also has better cutscenes with more elaborate visuals and is the only one with voice acting.
No había visto esta versión de Prince of Persia clásico y debo decir que está muy buena, una de las mejores que he visto, cercana a la SNES!...La música es diferente pero muy buena!
The Mega CD version controls a little better than this version. Has better music / sound and cut scenes. I would say this version is the 2nd best though. U gotta love the PC Engine.
I'm pretty sure this is the turbografx cd version, was there a version for the pc engine cd? The music is cd quality! This is still really good for those systems though, the fm towns marty version has more colours, but is essentially the same
Peter Williams They are one and the same, turbografx = Usa pc engine = Japan. The specific version you are seeking is called Prince Of Persia PC Engine Super CD-ROM DUO-RX
Not bad but the Mega-CD version has much better sound. Nicer sound fx thanks to the system's multi-PCM channels (while the PC Engine CD add-on only has one ADPCM channel) and plays CD music during the battle sequences while it's chiptunes here on PC Engine CD. this game has An easy Exit glitch Well that some of the level sections Are harder than you think Like in Level 10 It is extremely hard to beat that level But don't worry you can do that glitch To pass that level much quicker If you're a noob You can pass every level And you can stop sucking Because it's easy
+DarknessV2 Anyway, the PC-Engine, or Turbo GraFX 16 version is so much better than the original, it expanded the Prince of Persia storyline a little, and the final battle is more epic.
You never really played this game, you just memorized the mistakes you make and tried not to make them again. pretty mathematical really. Alot of games of the era were like this.
I don't see the original Prince of Persia anywhere. There are so many design details that ruin otherwhise a well programmed port (awful main menu selection menu font and design, a intro that reminds me more to SoR instead of PoP, ...). Overall, imho they tried to 'japanize' the game and the result is much worser as it does not transmit a single piece of the originals atmosphere.

Very nice port of the game. PoP got a lot of love in Japan.
This is one of the hardest game I remember from my childhood.
It's enough to make a grown man nostalgic!
19:45 blew me away as a child
Beautiful, well done, gg

its good to see that somebody finished this game,,, I never could,,, I got real far,, but ,, dang it is real hard!!!
This looks very impressive for the PC Engine back then.
You know an enemy is serious when they break out the NES music
Now THAT'S a return to my childhood
I have this in my windows 95 old computer, what a lot of nostalgic.
Beautiful Health boost sound 😊😊

37 and counting!
Reminds me of KARATEKA (yeah, i know , it was made by the same guy).
I've played pretty much every version of the original Prince of Persia game and this one is hands down the absolute best port. The music is so good. Sega CD one is pretty good too, but the PC Engine one is still my favorite.
:) Oooh, nice Old School port!
I favor most the SNES version. Good music, nice graphics, and extended gameplay full of new and interesting levels. Also cool fight with Jaffar at the end.

It's inverted on the Mega-CD. *
Fixed it for you.
No había visto esta versión de Prince of Persia clásico y debo decir que está muy buena, una de las mejores que he visto, cercana a la SNES!...La música es diferente pero muy buena!
SNES version is trash... the European Mega Drive version is the best console port
@@wrathovgod5099 What?? The snes version is the best, I even beated that version
The Mega CD version controls a little better than this version. Has better music / sound and cut scenes. I would say this version is the 2nd best though. U gotta love the PC Engine.
Great long play! I never finished Prince of Persia, so this was a nice treat.
I used to play it on the Amiga 500
It is so similar in gameplay and action to Karrateka
I'm pretty sure this is the turbografx cd version, was there a version for the pc engine cd? The music is cd quality! This is still really good for those systems though, the fm towns marty version has more colours, but is essentially the same

I Like that even there is a Blood on the spikes
i hope to play the old ver of this nice game on pc
Wow, an extra boss at the end? Who was it???
Wow this plays much faster than on PC, SNES and Genesis. Weird how choppy the fights with enemies look though.

Looks good but I still prefer the dos version
Not surprising, Jordan Mechner created both.
We ve been discussing this on the TG16 fansite on FB but whats the difference between a longplay and a lets play? Is it no voiceover on the longplay?
21:04 dat moment yo father buy kfc but yo fat brother eat em all
same developer ;)
The Genesis CD has better cut scenes but the TG-16 has better Music.
this game was really hard
Is this the same witch the prince was blond? I cant well....
This is similar to the Sega CD (or Mega Drive) version.
To Sega CD - yes, to Mega Drive - no.
48:20 Kaileena’s Christina
there is not limit of time on version pc engine ? because on snes there is one limit of time
E180tekno there is indeed, one hour.
this game has An easy Exit glitch Well that some of the level sections Are harder than you think Like in Level 10 It is extremely hard to beat that level But don't worry you can do that glitch To pass that level much quicker If you're a noob You can pass every level And you can stop sucking Because it's easy
Ah yes, the console that can't decide whether it is 8 or 16 bit.
Big like
I wonder if this Turbo GraFX or PC Engine CD version of Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow of the Flame also exist?
no?
+DarknessV2 Dang...
+DarknessV2 Anyway, the PC-Engine, or Turbo GraFX 16 version is so much better than the original, it expanded the Prince of Persia storyline a little, and the final battle is more epic.
+Isaac Adam hmm..well your speak agree so much.i think so too.the story line very good.the character moving is very smoothly.so,i love this game
+DarknessV2 And the soundtrack is also great.
13:07, 14:44
How do to get rom?
This looks more like a Gameboy game
But Sounds are much little bit bad
이야혼 잇쇼니 하메테🚶
Awfull version of this gr8 game. The original version was the BEST!
Ok this verios is also ok
Great music. What is a "PC engine"?
Japanese version of the "Turbografx-16" A console by Hudson soft and NEC electronics. It was wildly popular in japan, not so much anywhere else.
It also kicked serious ass.
You never really played this game, you just memorized the mistakes you make and tried not to make them again. pretty mathematical really. Alot of games of the era were like this.
Dark Kinged Zelda 48:22
IMO PC version is better.

This port is horrible, the animation is so jerky
