Bream Fishing - Memories of Specimen Bream from a Wild, Irish Lough (2018)

- My memories of bream fishing in Ireland, where I set myself a goal to catch a big specimen bream of double-figure (over 10lbs) from a wild Irish Lough. These are very rear creatures in Ireland and at that size, they usually are of 17-20 years of age. Identifying a potential venue is a big challenge in itself, not to mention all the work that needs to be put in afterwards to be in the chance of catching bream that big. And a huge amount of luck on your side is very needed.
This is a short video put together using some pictures and clips I recorded at the time. It doesn’t give the full story, but there is more to be read about the start of this challenge, approach taken, fishing tactics applied, fishing rigs and the outcome of it all in a FREE online magazine ‘Off the Scale Angling’ available at www.offthescaleangling.ie

Thanks for stopping by and watching my first ever UA-cam video, it's much appreciated. I am only learning editing for the last couple of days with the limited recordings I have here and there are many things that can be done better. It was however immensely satisfying to create this clip and I am looking forward to learn more and deliver better and more engaging fishing videos. Hopefully, I will at some stage be able to present those aspects of the beauty of the Nature that I am lucky to experience while out fishing.

- Some absolute monster slabs there 👍🏻 I did really enjoy the little boat ride through the rushes, nice calm music aswell. Good that you showed the rig etc. I liked it. Subbed #8. Look forward to seeing more. 👍🏻🎣 I did a Bream vid a couple of weeks ago but none near that size.
Thanks for the kind words, I look forward to giving it more time and seeing what comes out at the other end ;) took a look at your channel there, plenty good videos mate
@@mjh5437 sorry mate, but I've put literally years of hard work into finding the water and making it work for me. I'd rather keep it for myself.
@@mjh5437 nice lake that
@@mjh5437 a great memory to have 😊🎣
@@MarcinKantor Good man. Never give away the secret spots. The Council did up my local spot and opened it to the public. The place has been ruined

Really enjoyed that Marcin especially the boat ride. I’d say that’s a great feeling pushing through the channel into an unspoiled lough.
Ah it's brilliant bud, thanks a lot. the porta bote can take you places when normal boat could never get to

Nice, I caught a 8.4 ounce bream on a fly fishing river in ireland was well choughed
Ha, was it in the mouth or faul hooked?
@@MarcinKantor I was on the feeder it was hooked in the mouth , I've checked my records it was 7.5 lbs
@@MarcinKantor this was around 16 -17 years ago lol
@@rainbowtrout9743 some time that 👍
@@MarcinKantor yup only just remembered how wonderful ireland is so a trip is due !
Well done.
Thanks 😀
Amazing fishing! I will be targeting big bream in 2020.
Cheers Rob, tight lines mate, hope you'll get your target
I hear once they get into that category of size they can be quite dogged in their counter pull...I have had the odd fish show surprising burst's of zipping speed..nice peaty Irish bream..amazing specimens
Thanks a lot mate. I found that they more use their weight for a steady but determined pull, although it doesn't last overly long. I have mistaken one or two with a large tench which is a great compliment for them bream 😀
Enjoyed the boat ride into a secret lake, however i'm fairly sure it's not the lake you end up caching the bream on
It was a great boat ride mate 😊
Wonderful fish! 😀🍀👍
Thanks man, love your own channel ❤️
@@MarcinKantor we must meet 😀🐸
@@Lukasz_Fishing_Ireland anytime mate ☺️ drop me a message on fb 👍
how big do the tench get. I am assuming they inhabit the same water?
7lb is very big, 8lb exceptional. They do indeed but a very odd one would just go touching the 6lb barrier in it.
thanks..good fishing to you. I hope to get back there to fish my home land some day. but I fear the eastern European fishers have depleted many of the fisheries..
The way I look at things I do my best and don't get distracted by factors out of my control. Extraordinary fish are there to be caught if one is willing to put an extraordinary amount of work. I have seen more good catches of bream last year than I have ever seen before .
How u get the bigger Bream what's best thing to use?
Hard work more than anything mate. A water must hold them and then it's lots of prebaiting over weeks until you get the conditions just perfect
did they put up a fight?
They did. As much as a bream can fight tho...
pozdrowionka wpadnij do mnie :D
Czyli gdzie? 😀
