I'm 62 yrs young. Just bought my first 350. It's a husky FX. That said this is the most fun bike I've ever had. When I was young I rode CR 500's. Didn't know any better. My last 4 bikes have been ktm 300's which I loved. Then by chance I got to ride a 350 and thought I'd get one. This yr I bought a 2020 Husky 350FX and have found a new love for riding. Absolutely amazing bike.
My wife just bought me a SX-F 350 for my 50th birthday. Ive been on a KX450 for 4 years. Ive only put 1 hour on the engine of the 350 and I F'in love it already. So much more fun to race it than my 450, and I liked my 450. The 450 was fun but way too much power. I spent way more energy trying to control the 450. My kid and I were on the track together, he was zipping around on his 85, and he said after we got done that I looked noticeably faster on the 350, and I was just breaking it in and trying to keep the revs down for the first hour. As for the air forks, my Kawi had the SFF air fork and I didnt hate them, but spent a lot of time at each race trying to dial them in. The KTM air forks are amazing, so much better than the best day on my KX and I havent even started to play with clickers. Everyone says it will take 6 hours to break in the suspension and they feel better. Well, you'll have to slap the smile off my face if they get even better than they are now.
My buddy is a huge 350 guy. He just got a 23 and convinced me to buy his 18 350. It’s changed my life and it’s like putting on a pair of my old broke in shoes. So comfortable.
I am a fan of the 350 too, the only place I found the 450 had an advantage was out of the gate. However I had the opportunity to install the GET 2 ignition system with the second injector and a DEP pipe hand built specifically for the upgrade and it turned the 350 into a 450 eater. Starts long straights it just demolished stock 450s with pipes but the most amazing thing was the power was so smooth and manageable.
Ahhh yep I remember the first 350s well, and JStar. I bought a KTM 350 off JStar that year at the end of the season and raced amateurs at the Glen Helen GP.
Got myself a 21 350 a couple weeks ago and absolutely love the thing compared to my 18 450. I can actually get good seat time with way less arm pump and more energy to spare!👌
@chris beerad I've always had 450's and did try the 250f, but it's just not enough. Just can't believe how much user friendly this bike is with still having the punch but doesn't want to rip your arms out
Dude I’m struggling hard with my YZ450. Arm pump like crazy and my arms are shredded from the power by the end of the day. How do you feel about KTM’s new air fork setup on the ‘21??
@@MotoMatt418 man I personally feel comfortable with the air suspension, so light and easy to adjust the rebound & dampening, with no need to get it sent away to be re valved, it just made sense to me to go towards the euro brand with their high quality suspension, tech & the feeling of their steel frames👌

@@ktmjack1 I really don't need anymore power 🤣 im really too old and out of talent to make use haha. Those mods did make it much better to ride though 👍
my old man just bought a 350sxf and i’ve come off a 2020 crf450r and i was absolutely blown away how much faster and more comfortable i was with the less power
Cairoli won 2 MXGP Championships on a 350 🤷🏼♂️ Pretty fast. Price waxed everyone Off-road on the prototype 350’s. Most of the “need” for 450s is ego. That said, buy whatever makes you happy.
My pops got an exc350, it’s plenty, plenty, plenty of power. Whenever I get the chance to ride it, it’s fun, and it’s scary, and it’s eye opening to how fast bikes can be. But I learn very little riding it and usually just feel like I’m holding on. I build my skills much more on an underpowered bike in the woods. (I’m also from CNY and tight wood’s trails is mostly what I’m on)
I also just switched from a 19 450sxf to a 19 fc350, I loved that 450, super manageable power(even at full throttle) and fast af, but the engine character did not suit me that well, it also destroyed my cornering technique. Getting the 350 is definitely the best move ever, perfect engine, good handling, easier to throw around and the best overall bike you could wish for
Good info! I definitely need to ride one! I ride 450's and my brother rides 250s, he's wanting to switch to a 350, and I'm torn about what to get next.
I bought a '14 350xcf and I love it. I'm 240lbs and it will haul my fatass up anything I throw at it. It has all the power i need and want and it also is forgiving and controllable and easy to maneuver. I'm still getting back into riding after a 17yr break and I still suck so i haven't even come close to putting that bike to its limits yet but I already know the bikes limits r way beyond my skill level or needs. Wouldn't buy any other 4 stroke other than a 350.
I personally believe KTM evolved their motorcycles to the next level in 2010/2011. When the 350s came out, and they changed their bike designed. Personally I thought they were the best looking bikes besides the 2019-21s
A guy had a cr500 out at Elsinore about 2 months ago. He was riding the vet track. He was parked right next to my buddy. The cr500 literally broke in half. 😟The frame broke and they had to bring the bike back to his truck in a front loader. The only point I have is be careful with those old bikes . Yes, a 2 stroke 400 -500 is a insane ride. But the frames do get stressed over all those years. The guy was beat up bad, but refused a ride to the ER and drove himself home. Only after everyone at the track checked him out.
I’ve always wanted a 350 because I feel the 250 isn’t quite about hand the 450 is to much, if only kawi and other Japanese manufacturers made 350 I’d buy one. I guess I’ll stick with my 250
I'd love for the other manufacturers to step up and make a 350. I cannot bring myself to by a current KTM, Husqvarna or GasGas with air forks. Absolutely CANNOT stand the air forks. I'm not an amazing rider by any stretch of the imagination but I cannot stand the feeling of air forks. I've never gotten them in a comfortable place.
See, now I'm stuck somewhere in the middle... I raced a bone stock 2014 350 for a year. I loved the bike in the hills and on hardpack, but on loamy tracks I would get drug like I was on a 250. Had some injuries and went back to 2 strokes for a while. Now I'm on a 2020 KTM 450 and good lord, the bike has literally pulled my shoulder out. As a local pro in alright shape, this new 450 scares the shit out of me. Especially on map 2. I'm hoping the new 350 has bit more power, or back to 2 strokes I go. Maybe its me getting older, or I'm just a little bitch anymore, but I'm gonna kill myself on this 450. Lol
@@GYPSYTALES it’s high on my list! I’m also very much considering a 300tpi and throwing a 19” rear on it. I’m just not sure if the wide ratio trans will be a deal breaker. We always ran our 250s until they blew, and rebuilt them with the 300 crank and cylinder, they were buttery smooth monsters!

Only 1lb lighter than a 450, so it seems strange that it would handle like a 250f, I haven't ridden either so....
The GYROSCOPIC characteristics of the big bore 450cc engine makes it handle much worse and feel 20lbs heavier
