As a Polish person I have to add that Rusałka is not like a mermaid, it is believed that they were living in forests or water, they were usually young women who died before getting married. They were trying to attract young men to play with them and then they were killing them. 👀

23:45 - I wouldn't get bored. Growth comes from learning over time, not from the aging process itself. The aging process actually harms some of that growth, as your wisdom grows from time and experience, your body decays with age and your mind function decreases as well. Also, much grumpiness comes from getting tired, feeling more pain, having troubles that come with age. To have daily experiences in a healthy life, wisdom coming without the pains of age, you'd grow bored of that? No, no man, go sit in the corner and face the wall.

as you get older you experiance time at a faster rate. It is something that happens in our mind, it sucks balls. For example when you were a child a week of school probably felt like a eternaty. As a adult day's seem to disappear. if you were imortal, time would eventually loose meaning, it would no longer be experienced as a human dose. you could plant a sapling, and come back to a full grown tree. you would need to reset your perception of time every 1-2 hundred years, it is less getting bourd and more having meaning. there is no point in having bobbies if they give you no meaning. the finality of life is offtain what gives us that meaning.
at the same time I'm just a guy on the internet... i'd be down for some vampirism.

I think a lot of 'immortality would be boring' is the same as the fox that couldn't reach the eggs in the tree - 'they would have been terrible anyway'. Or the 'blessed are the meek, rich people suffer so much worse then us' (said by all the people who'd trade poverty for richness in a heartbeat, about the rich people who'd never wish to give up being rich). We tell ourselves immortality would be dull because it is out of reach... so we just say it would be terrible.

59:20 My all-time favorite vampire book is The Reformed Vampire Support Group which is a very enjoyable comedy. It's not your typical "romantic, seductive, powerful" vampire breed. No, no; the vampires are immortal, but they get sick, are very sensitive, and weak. But they need blood to stay alive. What makes it funnier is the Vampire Reformation group is run by a Catholic priest with Nina, the main vampire character, having her 70-something-year-old, sharp-tongued mom be the safe haven for the group.
It's a book I can read countless times and never get bored with it.

I only saw it once every few months but I used to have a progressive dream from when I was 9 until I turned 21. There was a wide meadow ahead of me full of beautiful flowers and a dense forest behind, I could see the mountains far in the horizon, the starry sky with the colors of the galaxy but...the way it progressed was rather disturbing; the grass died and the flowers wilted, it got colder and I could no longer see the stars, the forest behind me grew darker and eerier and I started to get frightened of whatever cold be lurking within it. Every time I had that dream, I felt it getting colder and eventually the mountains were covered in snow and I would be running towards it, running from something I couldn't see but was extremely frightened of, I woke up screaming every single time and couldn't sleep after from the fear I felt in it.

Thats def a dream that could be heavily unpacked. no time but the loudest theme seems to be - the past scares you. something hidden in your past that you want to forget or escape or leave behind. you may feel safe in your present but the past looms over you. something u dislike from it. something u dont want to experience again. alternatively - you future looms over u too. but its still less scary than your past. interesting and peculiar. all in all it seems like a normal thing tho. our brains are designed to help us sort out stuff but our subconsious holds the wealth of who we are... its murky in there tho. A lot of who truly we are can be held in sub-concisciousness. Life starts getting fuller when we ate able to live more in the concious mind and less of who we are exists in the sub-con. Fascinating, ya

my once upon a time reoccurring dream
      • I had this dream
off and on from 3 yrs old to 19 yrs
No matter how old I was in actuality, in the dream I was always about 3 to 5 years old.
We are in an older cadillac car circa 70s.
I've never been in one, so it stands out to me. It's not a pretty color its like baby poo brown... kinda mustardy. It's raining heavily. Most of my family is in that car, driving towards a school. It's cold. It's at dark and gloomy, but its storming - it might be day, because I can see a bit of the treeline as we pass it. So not pitchblack or anything.
At first, I view the car from the outside. The rain is intense and bangs down on the car's metal. There is one street light that we pass that makes it barely visible we are on a curvy road ( actual road near where I grew up headed towards the smallests of bridges that passes over a creek before nearing a graveyard with a highschool across the street)
Thinking about this dream brings up my anxiety, still today, and gives me a headache. My brain doesnt like this dream. My muscles in my upper arms and across my shoulders legit tighten up everytime I bring this dream up.
The dream... shifts as it "zooms-in" closer to the car as it races along the road in the rain... now it shows whats happening inside the car.
My dad has the radio on but I cant hear the music its like muffled background sounds. Its not loud just there and its annoying. My dad is driving. My mom is in the front passanger seat, and my older sister is seated behind my mom. She's arguing with my dad. I cant make out their words but I hear their loud abrupt spikes in their tone. I am seated in the middle of the backseat... but I unbuckle and slide to the window seat. My mom yells as she points forward and turns to see me unbuckled and looks frieghtened... my dad has his head turned toward my older sister as he looks forward at whatever my mom was screaming about.
There's a jolt. I am then in the air...
I hang in the air a moment.
Time is creeping forward at the slowesy of paces... then burst forward into a normal speed of time but... it makes normal speed feel sped up...
I bang my head on the roof of the car...
      time slows again ..
then the car hits the water... everyone is screaming... my sis opens the window and water comes rushing in... my dad is screaming at her. My mother seems frantic to get to me. There's blood on my hands as I touch my head. Water is filling the car. My sis escapes out window filling the car with more water.
The back of the car is tilted down... it seems darker than normal. My momis trying to get over the seat to me, but my Dad pops his door open and pulls her waist and time speeds up it always looks like they were vaccummed out. Just sucked away. I am in the car alone... the water is to my waist.
I start to cry. Now I am not looking thru my eyes but back at me. The scene flickers from being completely wet and car filling with water to completely dry.
My appearance flickers too, going from loose wet hair in a light pink and white wet dress with little roses on it...and patten leather maryjane shoes...
to my hair in two dry braided pigtails and a dry version of the same dress but combat boots ? they are my size... but they are high laced combat boots.
the blood on my forehead is still there tho... just dryed.
I look weird in the dry flicker with my hands placed in front of me folded in my lap. Like a doll that was dressed funny.
But when it flickees back to the flooding car scene I am ugly crying... and lost.
In the dry scene... I just open the car door and swim up but as I look back its my family stuck in the car... I dont look wet at all... its like flying but in water.
I stare at them... like they are a strangers and ignore their cries for help and head to the surface.
Scene flickers... the water is above my head... and I am coughing bubbles of air... I'm not crying anymore. My eyes look lifeless.
The scene flickers and Dry mean swims back to wet me... and pulls me out...patting my hair and back as I effortlessly glide to the surface..
I am on the bank of the creek.
lights shine from car in the water its still storming. No one is around. Dry-Me smiles at Wet-Me and takes my hand. We start walking to the graveyard. Wet-Me is scared. Dry-Me just smiles and takes Wet-Me's hand.
BY THE WAY from now on...
when Dry-Me is shown... its like Wet-Me is looking AT Dry-Me.. the scene light... no storm just foggy and a bit windy.
However whenever Wet-Me is shown its from Dry-Me's view of Wet-Me
Then - the scene is all stormy and raining. Its very dark, maybe midnight hours, its wet all over.
The two are in highcontrast to each other. Calm Light and Happy, Dry and Foggy...Dry-Me is kinda Hopeful and Secure verses Scared DarK and Sad Frustrated maybe a little bit Angry, Wet, Damp and Rainy.
      Wet-Me accepts Dry-Me's hand.
Then, hugs Dry-Me. Dry-Me seems suprised at this but then hugs Wet-Me back... the scene flickers very fast between the two. For a moment... it is foggy and lit-up on Wet-Me's side and rainy and dark on Dry-Me's side. Then it switches and they are on "their sides" when that happens you see them both... mixed sides and respective sides...
after this its as i said before looking the individual side in their enviroment.
Dry-Me lets go of Wet-Me but holds her hand still.. she leads me away from the graveyard to the Highschool. Wet-Me is scared cuz no one is around and Dry-Me is breaking into the school. Dry-Me shakes her head and opens the door with ease on her side. Inside the school its neither foggy nor dark... its just an empty highschool during the day. The two walk side by side holding hands. You can hear the rain... but there is none if you look outside the window. The wind is super high outside tho...
the two become one as they look out the window. the scene flickers and I am in the car as we are about to turn down the road but its just a damp foggy morning... no one is arguing... my sis is messing with something in her purse in her lap. My mom seems happy rocking a little to the music. My sis is seated behind my Dad. I am now seated behind my mom. My Dad is driving and talking with mom. Its a normal day. The scene flickers and they are arguing again. I unbuckle and slide back over to the window... my Sis is now seated behind Mom and I'm behind Dad...its starti g again... I buckle up on the side I am on this time and close my eyes and hold my head covering my ears. We hit the bridge and it starts all over again... feeling airless and floating but not hitting my head this time... then I wake up... those last few moments when I close my eyes... I only feel the dream... its black I dont see it.
the start of it gives me such anxiety.
what is funny is... its clearly me unhappy with home life and all the arguements... I honestly felt like someone was going to die growing up.
That I would be left, abandoned to myself to figure it all out. I have a vivid memory of being 3 yrs old using a calendar to calculate mildstones in my life that I needed to meet to I could get the away from this travesty they called Family.

@@BengtBagels Wow that is quite a layered dream, and I think you're right about the past scaring us.
I was a happy clueless child when it started and everything in it was beautiful, it started changing after losing my sister and it gradually got worse for a while as reality sunk in (it took me several years to accept it).
Between those dreams I would dream of creatures coming to harm me and my family, they would be unaware of it everytime and I would be trying to convince and escape with them.
I sometimes I would dream of my sister, deformed and seemingly melting into a void, she would ask me why I didn't save her.
I blamed myself because I had a dream of her getting on a bus, I had begged her to take me along but she told me that she had to go alone and left me the night before she disappered, I always felt like I should have stopped her that day, begged her not to go but I didn't and these dreams really haunted both my nights and days. I developed an irrational fear of corners (behind which i can't see) and shadows in the dark.

One vampire series that will always stick with me is Argeneau Series. It's a romance series where the vampires are not cursed beings, but super advanced survivors of the fall of Atlantis. They drink blood to feed the nanites in them because if they don't the nanites basically tear them apart looking for something to fuel them and the nanites keep them alive and forever at the peek of health, even reversing aging in one or two instances.
Another is the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series where the vampires hunt humans that don't have a soul anymore. This is another romance series
Oh! And Vampirates! Where the vampires are... pirates XD

my favorite vampire thing is the (swedish original) movie/novel, Låt den Rätte Komma In (Let the Right One In). it's what started my obsession with Sweden/Swedish culture/Swedish back in the late 2000's. I've been there three times now (I'm in the US and all three visits were definitely at the expense of my rent being on time lmao but I don't regret it. now that I'm going on 36, disabled, and have a cancer diagnosis, I doubt I'll ever travel again and it was always my dream visit another country ever since I was a child. I'm glad that I was able to experience it when I still could.... all cause I saw a movie one time (and many more times after that lol).

On the subject of favorite vampire media? While World of Darkness has Vampire: the Masquerade, which is a lot of fun...
...I'd still have to go with the Legacy of Kain video game series.
The storytelling and voice acting is beautifully Shakespearean, and the series was inspired by Clint Eastwood's The Unforgiven, the Wheel of Time book series, and the Necroscope book series. The concepts of free will versus fate, the paradoxes that come with time travel, seeing beyond black-and-white morality... It's all done in a beautifully dark adventure setting, and I've adored the series for over two decades.
Most people familiar with the series know about Soul Reaver 1 and 2, with the wraith Raziel as the antihero protagonist. However, in the very first game, Blood Omen (as well as Blood Omen 2), Kain himself is the playable antihero (antivillain?). It is in the final official LoK game, Defiance, that the chapters interchange between Kain's side of the story and Raziel's-making them both playable protagonists in Defiance.
I enjoy interacting with the wiki community on Discord that continues to explore Legacy of Kain, and it's a series I always recommend to people who might appreciate it story and the incredible voice cast. Also, fun fact: much of the writing for the series (after the first Blood Omen) was led by the legendary Amy Hennig-the same lead writer who worked on the Uncharted series.
I'll never get over Legacy of Kain, and it's remained my favorite vampire media to this day. 🖤

If they want a really good vampire game they need to do one with you in first person or third person huge push on feeding and taking cover during the day. you can't stay in an area too long people will start to get suspicious of the deaths or outbreaks of disease you cause depends on how they fulfil the story part and allow you to take over graveyards with mausoleums and or caves maybe even abandoned structures with area's sealed off from the light. that would really be an amazing experience.

As a psychopath, this is literally how B Cluster girlies live: psychopaths, sociopaths, narcissists, borderline (Emotionally Unstable), and Histrionics. In a sense, yes, we are the vampires of humanity, but a lot of that treatment comes from the angry mobs with their pitch forks claiming we're an unredeemable evil without knowing anything about us, like vampires. I find the psychology of human's fascination with vampirism unique, as we irl beautiful, charming, charismatic vamps seem so effortless but struggle eternally with our respective personality disorders yet people only like our Edward Cullins sparkle. Yes, I struggle with a lot even as a psychopath, I'm also schizophrenic, unbothered yes, easy existence, no. I cannot bond with anyone even though I know it is mutually beneficial; I simply lack the ability to because that part of my brain never developed. The love of my life would mean the same to me as a blade of grass I stepped on even if I wanted them more than anything. Boredom is HUGE within the B cluster, which is also replicated with vampires in media hence the Russian Roulette vamp. As a psychopath I'm what would be a "grand master" vampire, The charm, scare tactics, or anything of the other B cluster personalities won't work on me at all and I can smell it from a mile away. Zum Beispiel: I actively caught a BPDer trying to force me to drink so I would loosen up to sleep with her, I played along playing dumb until I simply left never touching the drink. She was major triggered that I silently abandoned her after that. In my experience, BPD people are the result of vampirism gone wrong. They still cling to their humanity while being forced into an evil monster against their will. BPDers splitting is how I as a psychopath always am. I become infatuated, I disregard them, then throw them away. BPDers can't throw away people because they don't want to be abandoned again, left to die a second time. They're technically vampires but often don't want to be; They are the reluctant vampires. NPD is the next level of vampire, stronger that BPD, but still the vampirism wasn't quite right, there are easy-to-wound insecurities. HPD, the theatrical vampire, stronger than the narcs, they're fun, to me anyway. ASPD - sociopath the "True" vampires, turned not born. NPD - psychopaths the true born vampires, like myself. Always been this way, no trauma did this to me. The only thing that can take down a psycho is another psycho, which includes strong socios. I would urge anyone interesting in vampirism to do deep research into the B cluster personality disorders. I'm unintentionally cold, calloused, silent, dead behind the eyes, unshakably arrogant, and I feel absolutely nothing toward myself or others, but you'd never know that with my big smile, bright eyes, and saccharin charms. I'm the closest a living creature can get to a legit vampire sans drinking cabernet. I find this game fascinating and can't wait to see more. Edit: The B cluster is also infamous for longterm asocial behavior just like vampires. I haven't hungout with someone in over a year, I simply don't need anyone. This is true for Sociopaths too, they can go forever without human contact. BPD is complicated, they do and can go without human contact but it's mainly because it's too emotionally draining for them to be around people. NPD and HPD both people in the same way vamps need blood; They don't actually, they just need the attention (our irl "blood") to fulfill them. I too behave this way, most men see me as a succubus. I'm there for 1 thing only and they know it. I'm gonna steal their soul and be gone before they even wake up.

I have the same dream that im trying to save my children from zombies, my son being older he always ends up joining a group trying to save humanity and my daughter being younger with autism doesnt quite understand the dangers and im always trying to keep her safe.
Rattles me to my core that as a mum I HAVE to save them no matter the cost
