Ultra positive reinforcement is vital... "Whensoever a mother seeth that her child hath done well, let her praise and applaud him and cheer his heart; and if the slightest undesirable trait should manifest itself, let her counsel the child and punish him, and use means based on reason, even a slight verbal chastisement should this be necessary." ~ Abdul-Baha, Baha'i Faith
Thanks, I really enjoyed this lecture. For what you are saying, it seems the young baby just maps the rules of what language is supposed to be in order to speed up the process. This I believe may be the reason they start showing language discrimination. Probably the key to learn a foreign language is to slow down the process by learning how people sound and how they react before learning the words and the rules of sintax and grammar.
Should definitely speak to children in multiple languages as fast as possible. Be aware as the child is young, it may confuse them using multiple words to describe the same thing/event. However the benefit comes from the different intonations and tongue usages. From 2-5 the child's vocabulary will greatly benefit. That's the process.

As a former long time Preschool teacher with no formal preschool training, I found the keys are “observation, interaction, and creative experimentation”, books and formal training merely assist that primary discipline.
This was very insightful. Loved the breakdown of your research.

Fantastic, thanks for sharing!
Dr Khul, as a bilingual parent, should I speak to my son in 2 different languages? Will it confuse him?
