I remember seeing this game in high school. It had gotten so popular infact that the team behind this game created them fighting herds.It' was so impressive at the time infact that lauren Faust herself was actually impressed and tried to conced Hasbro to license it, but they said no to that idea. So they straight up remade it and got a hold of the skullgirls engine and created them fighting heards.
I think Hasbro actually gave them a C&D so they had to stop. Lauren Faust either approached or was approached by Mane6 and designed the characters for Them Fighting Herds.
Hasbro gave a C&D. Lauren Faust had then worked with Mane 6 to rewrite the story, give new characters but still kept Faust character style. Each new character definitely has personality or quirks that tie to the orginal mane 6 cast as a nod to them. Very proud of the team behind this for an official release. And it's very well made!

Well that was a blast from the past. I love seeing how some moves in this game are directly (or nearly directly) ported over to Them's Fightin' Herds! Seriously, Mane6 did a wonderful job, from fan-game makers to official Steam game makers!
I wish this game was up-to-date because there are so many new characters, treehugger, Bonbon is Agent sweetie drops, Zephyr Breeze, just name a few not to forget some of the villains could be major boss battles in the story arc of the game.

The attacks and skill moves of the Mane 6 are more or less brought over to Them's Fightin' Herds. I'm interested to try this out, even if it's not a finished game.
As a way of giving in to the violence, I want the opening announcements by Celestia to go "Now, girls, I don't think you should OOF" and both the fighters uppercut Celestia and quickly return to their starting positions.

Late reply, but the game is dead. The team behind this developed game Them's fightin herds, because they have their own rights for that, and Lauren Faust helped them with the project.

It looks buggy and the unpolished art forced in only makes it look as though it's still in Alpha. Thanks to the guy who provided the MediaFire link, though. Hopefully someday we get a proper release.

How far would one be willing to go for the fans? Release a fully developed game start to finish, no leaks or even a word.. drop it anonymously, absolutely NO credit, and let the fans enjoy it without the copyright holder having a chance to sue the anonymous creator. That should have been the case here...
honestly, I'm kinda glad this project got shut down... don't get me wrong, is a shame it never got finished, but thanks to that we ended up getting Them's Fightihg Herds, wich is an incredible game with really good designs
Even though Fighting is Magic was canceled it didn't stop it from being continued by other developers, correct? FiM had an edition updated until last year and none more until today
