Congratulations on hitting 1K subscribers Lucy. I wish you more success. May I suggest a lovely restaurant called Chez Tante Athalie which is not too far from the botanical gardens. The Mauritian food is really delicious, the staff are very friendly and the unique surroundings (lots of vintage cars in the garden) make it a very pleasant dining experience.

Don't go to Selfish in point aux Cannoniers in the north, I once saw them cleaning the tables with a sweeper that they just used to sweep the floor. And the food isn't that good either... And the atmosphere .... well ...well..so loud a bit peasant ish... for my liking...

The southern part of the island is the most beautiful part..but also the most endangered. With development comes a lot of dangers to the environment...people should be more careful and conscious. Government shd also be conscious of the dangers of over development!
I think you should cover Quatre-Bornes more as most of the immigrants are Indians and they prefer to relocate in that area. Just a suggestion. Love your videos💓
I went to this restaurant today because of watching this video the food was absolutely lovely but we had 2 starters and 2 main dishes and we were charged 1900 mur which is quite expensive considering you said you went and ate for four people for 500 ?
Lucy Leheilleix we went to Marilyn Monroe and we had 2 starters both calamari and then a chicken curry with rice and fish (catch of the day) with chips and 2 cokes

the problem with expats, is that they tend to think local, and exotic, thus looking for places different from that of their country, which is quite normal, but mauritius is not ONLY about exotic, wild nature, beaches, if you integrate correctly in the society, you will see it is much much more, culture wise, N.b, lived in France for ten years and then came back to homecounty

We were at Marilyn monroe today and the food and service was mediocre. We were 3 and the first service arrived after 35 mns even that there were only 3 people before us! we waited another 20 mns before all were served .Spicy food was sugary and deprived of local taste.Very disappointing !
Similar to what the government of most European, North America , Australia etc are curbing down on immigrants coming to their countries, Mauritius government should be careful as well not to let too many foreigners in our Island otherwise we will lose our identity and culture etc
@@LucyLeheilleix ...True , but in my opinion being a small Island Mauritius already had its share of investors but it’s just a matter of managing the investments which are already in with less corruption from the government. After having lost over 90% of beautiful public beaches to hotel investments , I would be reluctant to let investors building more hotels. Maybe on different sectors but certainly not more hotels or bungalows.
Thanks for commenting, but to my knowledge, noodles (min frite and min bouille) and rice dishes (like bol renverser) are very much Mauritian. They exist in most food stalls and restaurants. Chinese type dishes and curries are also very much loved here, and that’s what makes Mauritius so wonderful - the mix of African, Asian, Indian and European influences combining into incredible food experiences.

In the current economic climate, I think the government will be trying very hard to get more foreigners to invest here, not less. Times are tough.
