I have a suggestion for you, you could fill the open space of the tunnel with minifigs dressed like miners and give them tools to mine various colored crystals from the cavern/tunnel.
That initial tracking shot was fantastic. So well done. Very smooth, the train is centered and you follow it for quite a while as it pleasantly travels through your city. Just great. I can appreciate the work it took to get such a flawless shot.
I was really hoping to see a video like this from you (hoping, not expecting, of course). I have almost no experience with Power Functions (just the Ferris Wheel I set up last week), and I have no experience with LEGO trains, but I really want to set up a small loop for the Hogwarts Express to run around Hogwarts, and this has been very helpful! I'm thinking I might build a modified passenger car to attach the new style of motor to, since the undercarriage of that car I feel is the weakest part of the base set anyway. But we'll see when I get the set! Again, thanks so much for making this video! Keep up the great work!
Hey dude. I want to say that your Lego city is amazing!!! I've been playing with Legos for years and I could never build something like that. You should do a full walkthrough video explaining what everything is, what's it for, basically just show off the whole entire completed project.
Very high quality video as usual, Jang! I would love to see you do a thorough video on the different power and track systems to use when creating custom train displays. Like if one were to start collecting tracks and motors today, is the newest system the one you would recommend? Or is maybe one of the older power systems preferable if you're working on a larger scale or a smaller scale, etc.
Jang I love what you have done with the Hogwarts Express and your brilliant LEGO city. It would be awesome if you could add the Harry Potter theme underneath your city, just like what you did with the Minecraft, underwater, and miners theme. You talked about how you enjoyed bringing nostalgia to your viewers in your Beyond the Brick interview and Harry Potter gives your the perfect opportunity to do that especially with LEGOS recent releases of the sets.
Amazing I wanted to buy this set but was disappointed when it didn’t have space for a motor! Thank you for posting! Keep up the great work on your city!!
1 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS!! WELL DONE JANG I'VE BEEN SUBBED SINCE 400K AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN PART OF THE NOTIFICATION SQUAD SINCE I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL HERE'S TO ANOTHER MILLION!! ☺
Never been into power functions that much, but with this hogwarts express and your video (which by the way is just outstanding) i really have to get some of those parts.
Awesome!!!!! Was looking forward to seeing your rendition of this. (Not that i was expecting. Rather crossing my fingers to see whether yoy would take on such a challenge.) None the less. Well done!!
A moc steam engine would be an excellent edition to the melon bee district. Since you chose a cyber punk theme maybe a nuclear steam "Power Train" ( no pun intended ) similar to a modern nuclear submarine with a conductors cab on the back maybe a couple cooling towers for the coal cart. Love your work! Can't wait to see the IDF base progress.
I find it odd that they make the front truck so that it can be unlocked for use on a track, but don't make it semi power functions ready. Great mod.... Thanks for sharing!!!
DargoDog it's just intended to use the hand pusher engine. Still better than if you also had to come up with a solution to make the front axles turn if you decided to motorize this. At least they solved that part for you by design.
Ha! I knew you wouldn't resist motorizing this train! You've shown that it's at least possible, but it looks good on your tracks, and looks not so out of place, since it's from the fictional world of Harry Potter, if it was a Christmas train, I'd say it wouldn't really belong there as a permanent train! I agree that a second and third passenger car would make it look more complete, right now, it's quite small, but it's a really cool mod for the locomotive!
While I think it was custom painted for the film, the Hogwarts Express IS a perfectly real and functioning steam train, so it's not nearly as out of place as, say, a spaceship from Star Wars would be.
Jang, as always, this is an excellent video with useful detailed information! Lots of Lego love to YOU for giving us the details a true fan needs! and helpful hints about different options! The Hogwarts Express is such an interesting train and lots of people will want to have the option to have it run and watch it go! we love the movies so having the train be able to function is perfect! Thanks again!
You could get four driving wheels easily by turning the simulated driving rod on the locomotive into a connecting rod by connecting it to the front set of wheels. It would be a small change and the set doesn’t have any pistons anyway.
More trains! We need an updating session of trains within your costom city, especially with the tunnel, however it might look better to run trains once the moutain and tunnel is complete.
I guess another option would be to create an additional cart in the back that looks like a "cargo" container that would push the train instead. Of course, it would be MOC but can spark some creativity to match the train. Some trains actually operate like this too in real life I believe, having a rear engine.
The setup you thought of was very efficient, but maybe you could increase the height of the cab by one or two studs, then mount the motor by slanting it using a 2 x 2 hinge plate with a one by two hinge connector, which would possibly leave enough space for the receiver in the engine itself.
I will probably never buy the set as I have the old one and don't really care about Harry Potter. However this is one of my favorite videos you have done. So helpful in general!
Great video, appreciate the ideas and tips! I ordered two trains today at 1/3 off (going to keep the extra passenger carriage from set #2 and sell off the rest). Planning on 'de-Potterising' the train with some small mods, but also want to motorize it. I'm lucky in that I've got a spare of each system (PF and PU) so I've got several options.
Narwhocalypse it would be a cool moc for sure, and I'm certain Jang could do an amazing MOC of one, but I don't think the layout of the city is suitable for running a bullet train.
Can you use the latest train motor for the front wheels of the train? That is if you want to keep drive rods for a steam engine but don't want to put the motor on the tender. Or would that make the train more likely to tip over as the front is used to steer.
I have a suggestion for you, you could fill the open space of the tunnel with minifigs dressed like miners and give them tools to mine various colored crystals from the cavern/tunnel.
MidnightStorm022 yeah like mine train through nature's wonderland.
Nice! I was wondering if that battery box would fit in there. Seen this approach Done a lot. Thanks for sharing your solution with us
That initial tracking shot was fantastic. So well done. Very smooth, the train is centered and you follow it for quite a while as it pleasantly travels through your city. Just great. I can appreciate the work it took to get such a flawless shot.
Im sorry but... The hogwarts express, on tracks running through a muggle city in broad daylight? You risk the exposure of our world!
Your a wizard Darth?
+Jerry.m Hut haha why did I find at hilarious?!

Again, thanks so much for making this video! Keep up the great work!
Thanks Jang. You have again demonstrated your master builder worthiness.

Woah, that's really cool! This is why you're my favorite LEGO UA-camr.
I saw the the Beyond The Brick video I love it!
As did I

its always good to see trains running on your layout
Your videos make me happy.
Make a couple more Coaches for the train! That would be super cool!!!
Glad you found a good way to enable power functions.
Thank you Jang! Such a clear explanation even I, a non technical Lego lover should pull this off. You are a legend.

Nice! Awesome job customizing! 👍🏻🤩
Loved the beyond the brick interview
Amazing I wanted to buy this set but was disappointed when it didn’t have space for a motor! Thank you for posting! Keep up the great work on your city!!
you’ve gotta do this to the _Solo_ Conveyex space train now too...
Jang, your rock man!! Love your channel!!
What a great video! Thanks Jang. Been watching you for years and this is one of your best.
When I saw the train running in the city I thought how cool it would be if the entire layout was built as the harry potter world
Oscar Mancio someone else has probably done that already.
1 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS!! WELL DONE JANG I'VE BEEN SUBBED SINCE 400K AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN PART OF THE NOTIFICATION SQUAD SINCE I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL HERE'S TO ANOTHER MILLION!! ☺
Great job! Really good solution
You should make an attachment by putting Ron’s flying car on the front
Love hogwarts express great video
You did it jang nice 😃
Gotta find room for a Harry Potter display, with the train going around hogwarts
Lego Filmer0606 that sounds cool please make a vid if you do it
Awesome solution - Thank you so much, Jang!
You inspire me
And Jang delivers once again! :)
Never been into power functions that much, but with this hogwarts express and your video (which by the way is just outstanding) i really have to get some of those parts.
Cool! This is very creative!
That's Cool! Put it in the Mellembye district!
I can’t stop hearing the Thomas the Tank Engine theme in my mind.
I’m not the only one?
I thought of james' theme...
You did a very good job
Awesome!!!!! Was looking forward to seeing your rendition of this. (Not that i was expecting. Rather crossing my fingers to see whether yoy would take on such a challenge.) None the less. Well done!!
Clever work dude.
I saw the collab with btb and I want an official city tour from you more than ever now...
Thanks for the helpful tips. Some great ideas, I can't wait to have a go at motorising mine when I get one.

I would make the tender a little longer in my opinion, and then use the emerald nights drive rods to make it look more realistic!
Good job
Your videos are so clean! Never disappoints me.
I find it odd that they make the front truck so that it can be unlocked for use on a track, but don't make it semi power functions ready. Great mod.... Thanks for sharing!!!

A good idea well executed and explained.
Congrats on 1mill subs 😃
Do an automatic parking that looks great in lego
Awesome. I love it
As per usual, a very clever solution!
I LOVE YOU JANG!!!😂
Cool im more of a mega construx but this is still a cool set!
Thanks for this! Now have a Hogwarts Express driving around my Lego Star Wars themed Christmas tree.
Cool.. great video, as always.

I find it fascinating how you customise sets (especially the trains) to add power, thank you for sharing!
Saw you with beyond the brick
Oh, THAT helped me. thank you.
Under the tender?
Flashbacks to the tender driven era of British model locomotives.
I had one of those and mainly discarded the tender
Could you make an instructional modification video for this?
Awesome set! I want to increase the length of every unit so it would be as long as emerald night.
You could get four driving wheels easily by turning the simulated driving rod on the locomotive into a connecting rod by connecting it to the front set of wheels. It would be a small change and the set doesn’t have any pistons anyway.
Congrats on 1mil man, I’ve been watching since 370k
Excellent! Thank you for this. Really informative.
Never clicked a video so fast
Nice job 👍
Love the engineering JANGBRICKS.
More trains! We need an updating session of trains within your costom city, especially with the tunnel, however it might look better to run trains once the moutain and tunnel is complete.
Very innovative - thanks for sharing!
I was waiting for this video!
Terrific Video Jang! Thanks for your dedication to LEGO and your fans!
a red or black buwiz would blend in more with the coal box of course, its also 1 brick thinner
I guess another option would be to create an additional cart in the back that looks like a "cargo" container that would push the train instead. Of course, it would be MOC but can spark some creativity to match the train. Some trains actually operate like this too in real life I believe, having a rear engine.
Usually steam locos pull a diesel that's at the end of the train you could probably make a baggage car just behind the engine like irl
Turned out awesome
The setup you thought of was very efficient, but maybe you could increase the height of the cab by one or two studs, then mount the motor by slanting it using a 2 x 2 hinge plate with a one by two hinge connector, which would possibly leave enough space for the receiver in the engine itself.
5:50-5:60 “full speed is not a good look for a steam engine” well that’s if you’re not trying to recreate the climax of Back to the future part 3 lol
You hit a million congrats
Great!
This was helpfull! I am ready to buy this set and motorize it.
This town looks amazing
@Jangbricks - with the UCS Falcon available, when will we get a review on that? :)
0:51 notice the duplo brick watch the train go by!
Haha, yes!
Nice job
Jang it always amazes me how smart and talented you are! Great job motorizing this!
Hi there I'm wanting to do this with my son do you have a list of the parts you used to motorize the train and the extra parts used thanks 😊
I will probably never buy the set as I have the old one and don't really care about Harry Potter. However this is one of my favorite videos you have done. So helpful in general!
Hi Jang!!!
Great video, appreciate the ideas and tips! I ordered two trains today at 1/3 off (going to keep the extra passenger carriage from set #2 and sell off the rest). Science with Jangbricks
Thanks for this. Want to do this to my train. Very useful ideas and options.
Can we get a video of this and the Emerald Night running together?
UP4204 that would be really cool indeed. That locomotive looked gorgeous to me.
Are you ever planning on making a really fast bullet train?
Narwhocalypse it would be a cool moc for sure, and I'm certain Jang could do an amazing MOC of one, but I don't think the layout of the city is suitable for running a bullet train.
When you need it: LegoTechnic, Pin Connector Toggle Joint Smooth Double with 2 Pins, part #48496
What about the parts that attach to that part... The yellow cog wheels and the axle?
Nice job on the conversion!
Can you use the latest train motor for the front wheels of the train? That is if you want to keep drive rods for a steam engine but don't want to put the motor on the tender.
Or would that make the train more likely to tip over as the front is used to steer.
Please build more passenger cars.
I tried exactly what you did and it kind of works
Isaac Cox 210 how to shift the motor by half brick and still able to secure inside the train.
