Glad I’m not the only one who had an internal meltdown when I found out her work leaked and we ain’t getting a new project 💀
tbh it makes sense with how she first was seemingly teasing a new era on social media only to not do anything with it, while she was mysteriously disappearing off festival lineups. at the time i assumed it was a health scare or something.

She’s one of the most under-appreciated artists we have right now. I’m so tired of seeing other artists who can’t sing, can’t dance and barely perform anything original get accolades and billions of dollars while FKA twigs is over here making some of the best artwork of our generation and most people only know about her because of her proximity to her problematic ex-boyfriends. It’s the misogynoir of it all for me 😔

i was watching her interview after her performance for Valentino and you could tell how eager and open she was to develop and explore this era of her sound. she looked and felt grounded and ready to kind of let us inside her world after Magdalene and caprisongs; then I saw her and sera bodegas post and was so devastated. I was so ready to hear her maybe work with arca, sega or koreless.
The Valentino performance was incredible. So so devastating :(
If I'm being completely honest, i think FKA Twigs' album Magdelene saved my life in 2021.
That album will always mean so much to me, I fear.
It is def a godsend. Magdelene captures the complexities of womanhood. I felt like someone actually heard me. And, I really appreciate Twigs for Daybed ❤Even though it sounds simple, that song is the most raw and relatable song I’ve ever heard in my life.

i'm so glad you made this because the only discourse i have seen about it has been people complaining about twigs. "it's so dramatic to not release it," "she's doing too much," etc, etc. i haven't seen a single iota of sympathy for how devastating this must have been for her. great video, subscribed 💗💚

I remember being 15 scrollin on YT late at night and stumbling upon the Water Me video. I've never heard or seen anything like it and immediately went into the FKA rabbit whole. She's such a unique, humble, eclectic, and overall magical individual. It makes me sad people see artists and do anything to wring out content from them. I hope she is just enjoying life securely and Ill be ready for any project whenever it may come out!

i will be eternally grateful to twigs and also eartheater for inspiring me to really start trying to develop my singing voice with its flaws still in, and to embrace my soprano register. the inclusion of classical elements within experimental pop is one of the most major things that's happened in alternative music in the last 10 years, and it lets people play to their strengths and show them off without the elitism that comes with classical music and jazz a lot of the time. also staying curious is so crucial to creativity, in a world that positions art as a consumable product we need artists like twigs more than ever. people are out here forgetting we sing for fun

I find it very funny that when talking about genre in relation to Twigs she's always put in some "urban" or "RnB" category when her closest contemporaries (in my mind) Purity Ring and Sevdaliza are always planted somewhere in the Electronic Music genre and i genuinely believe thats when Twigs belongs as well... but unfortunately Electronic Music doesn't really make room for people of color (outside of hyperpop which is now technically being labeled as a Trap subgenre) and i think that needs to change.
I remember the intensive hate she used to get but she was really one of the most unique/influential artists of the 2010s in terms of alt/experimental

I like your take on what happened and on Twigs' art. It really is heartbreaking. I understand why Twigs decided to scrap her upcoming work after the leak because I think she sets a very high bar for herself in terms of only releasing things when she feels they are really ready, and fit in this larger story/project. Her work is incredible and it's an absolute shame that she has to fight that hard to just get the room/time/finances to produce work the way she wants to.

FKA twigs is such an incredible artist love many of her songs. Really love daybed, Pendulum, Cellophane etc. it’s hard to pick one. I’m obsessed with her Vogue World performance of “It’s a Fine Day”. ✨✨

This is the age of anti intellectualism there are only a few people left who actually care about art and not stanning entertainers
i remember being 17 and discovering her music in 2014, then becoming obsessed. now, almost 10 years later i still love her art with all my heart! magdalene was life changing. the sad thing is that she never came to my country (i live in south america) so i never had the chance to see her on a stage but i still dream that some day i will!

her music, her artistry, her sheer presence have always just stuck with me. her ability as an artist is so underappreciated and the lack of respect she gets is just revolting.
twigs is just incredibly as an artistic soul.

I have been a fan of FKA twigs since my older brother introduced me to her as a kid in 2014 and my god i will always hail her one of the definitive artists of her generation to me she's above the ranking of a lot of mainstream artists (a lot of whom secretly copied/took inspirations from her work) when it comes to music, videos, dancing and performing, she's the ultimate artist to me, there's always a case if there's a chamelon based artist they always one musical talent they are great in but the other is a weak link for Twigs it's the opposite she's a straight master where she's equally great as a vocalist, a songwriter, a dancer/performer and a creative director/choreographer/creative visionary. I especially love how she build a aesthetic/atmosphere through her visuals and expand upon it into her music, only a small of contemporary female artists i believe match and like her majority of them are underground (solange, lana del rey, rosalia, keela, jhene aiko, ethel cain, MIA) and a few that are mainstream (billie eilish, beyonce, taylor swift, janelle monae). I wasn't aware of her struggles besides her relationships of course that unfortunate been the most mainstream attention she's gotten mainly her record label it actually makes sense why she haven't been able to cultivate into crossover recognition similar to other alternative-niche artists have gotten (mainly lana, lorde, billie, janelle, jhene) i hope being signed to Atlantic records gives her the flowers she deserves and i hope she doesn't take too long for new music after her music was doxxed and leaked

Recent: mirrored heart, cellophane, holy terrain, home with you. Ego death, don’t judge me. Ride the dragon, meta angel big time, papi bones and darjeeling. But listening to entire albums is better.
The only one I don’t love is killer and tears in the club and even there I’m not mad at it.

i have heard some black women talking about being referred to with gender neutral pronouns they don't identify with as being a micro-aggression, due to society's history of stripping black women of their femininity or femaleness. just something to be aware of in the future
