Great great great stuff. Will be starting my controls journey here soon. I have hvac and IT background for six years so all of this is super interesting and i think I'm gonna love it.
Yes it definitely does speed things up. Based on our experience training new hires, you can cut a good 2-3 years of "doing your time" out by training the right topics and areas early on.
@@Chris-vq1jt it's hard to answer without seeing your assessment results but most folks struggle with HVAC control theory, HVAC general theory, electrical fundamentals, and the ability to research/problem solve.
Hey i appreciate the reply! Is there a link for the assessment? But to clarify, my background is in hvac. So, I would say I'm solid there. And you're absolutely right, I tend to have to research the majority of the time in order to problem solve during the troubleshooting process.
I just started my first controls job at siemens. To be honest with you its all pretty overwhelming. I've worked with old TEC controllers before, but I'm gonna be doing new installations. Any advice you have will be much appreciated.

Good to hear. Controls is a great career.
I'm not sure you get the appreciation you deserve. It amazes how much knowledge and information you put into your videos.

Great information. I am going into my 3rd year as a BAS technician. I wish I had come across this video before I got started.

@SmartBuildingsAcademy well that sounds awesome. Are there any topics you recommend for someone like myself? I work for Siemens.

If you do residential HVAC I would recommend first moving to commercial service and then transitioning into BAS, that's a pretty easy way to do it.
Do y’all sell lab kits on your website?
Yes we do they are currently 8 weeks back ordered so the best thing to do is email or call us.
