In the early 2000s (they might still make them idk) there was a boom American interest in anime so consequence of that boom, a bunch of "learn how to draw anime" books came out for kids. But a bunch of those books were made by people who weren't that good at art, wonky faces, bad anatomy and proportions were common and they almost never captured the appeal of actual anime. That's what they are referencing. That being said, I like these designs.
It's such a shame that Gumi's broken transitions weren't fixed, because other than that this is totally amazing... Just for example, "samurai" has a break between the S and the A that can be fixed like this: [ s e { ]. As a general rule, with gumi english, the [ { ] phoneme always sounds better with an [ e ] before it, and it fixes the broken transition in this case as well.
Who else had those glow in the dark toys like swords and this song would *SCREAM* out of it? I had it and I would *BLAST* this song from the sword all the time
