As I read feedback from hiring managers, there are many job candidates they interview from traditional colleges who just hit check points, there’s no ownership of these candidates to truly know their stuff, it’s just remember this long enough. WGU produces students who truly know their stuff and advance onto the next course once you’re deemed ready. Every single person who I’ve heard about graduating from the WGU program all make remarkable Allies to any organization, and should be hired over traditional education graduates. WGU is just doing things different and I enjoy it!

I just re-enrolled in WGU (after being away for 5 months, my previous degree was BS in Health Services Coordination. Im done with healthcare, im an RN) I can't wait to start the BSCSIA program!! Technology is my true passion, most of my colleagues and physicians i trained in EHR software like EPIC and PointClickCare have expressed they think i would be great in tech. I know im going to do great and love every moment of it. Thank you Paul for this video! Congratulations to you and thank you YT for putting his video in my algorithm so i know what to expect in November!

Hopefully can start in July too, but, finished my BS only a week or two ago, so grad admissions councelor said I might have to wait until August for the admissions processing too complete.

How many hours per day you study?
@@jerk_berk I’m lucky and get to do a lot of work at my day job. But I avg about 4-5 hrs a day. Right now waiting to start my new term September 1st.

@@DigitalLiquid good just passed the applied statistics and probability course. Doing the intro to systems thinking class now. About to be doing term 4 classes in term 2. It’s going very well!

For which cert?
Just became a subscriber... My question is those Cert. like the Comptia do you write it online or you go to a proctor center to write?
I took the comptia certs from home proctored online you can do either.
What’s the difference between online and physical attendance in university? For international student is online beneficial or should attend offline at campus

What was your work schedule like going through the bachelor program? I’m transferring about 10 of the 34 classes and plan on cutting down to working 2 days a week to finish in 1 term.
I was and still am active duty military. I work 40 hours per week on average sometimes more. I studied 2 ish hours week days 6 to 8 hours Sat and 2 to 3 hours Sunday.
Im about to finish my gen ed and planning on starting soon majoring at WGU-Cybersecurity. What should I do or what should I study to get ahead ?

Well thank you for the response i actually really appreciate it and i agree with you actually, i think i came the wrong way at you, i meant what advice could you offer if you have already gotten a job so people like me also doing bachelor programs in university for cyber can feel a little comfort as they get ready to interview
My advice would be to share your journey on LinkedIn while networking and making quality connections on there, document your progress on posts on there or even youtube videos this demonstrates your practical experience and technical communication skills, refine and iteratively update and refine your resume on a regular basis. While I may not be entry level this is what I've been doing and I'm a year out from transitioning and it's lined up some opportunities for me. I also have some friends who are entry level who this has worked for.
Are the Boson practice exams part of the resources too?
No those are not
Did you do all of your courses in the program or did you transfer anything in?
I transferred in a total of 22 credits from military training and security+. I only had sec+ to start
Do get the certs from graduating or do you still have to take the exam?
You have to take the actual exam and earn the cert to complete the course. That's for the cert based courses.

For all the certifications you passed did CompTIA send you the certificate and the card in the mail?
Yes they did every single one.

Hello, can you take this program if you're not in the military? And also if you're a beginner ro cyber security?
Yes you can take this program as a civilian. And yes even as a beginner it will just be harder to accelerate but not undoable

I completed all the certs in one term. You have to pass the certs to pass the class the ccsp voucher is optional but you still have to pass the wgu OA to get that class credit. All billing is based on the term not by class.

How was the job search following graduating?
I'm transitioning out of the Marine Corps in a little under a year and I already have opportunities lined up. But a degree alone won't get you a job it's a concentrated effort.
What are the starting salaries and ppl keep saying cybersecurity isn’t entry lever and you will start off help desk and have to work your way up
The answer is it depends on your experience a degree and certs alone aren't going to get you a job. I can answer your question if it's more specific.

Thank you for checking in. I took a break from LinkedIn to prioritize deep work for 30 days and it turned into longer lol. It's hibernated for now but I plan on returning around August. All is well though, hope you're doing great my friend 🙏

They vary in difficulty. The hardest one is PenTest+ I'd say.

Is there anything I should study up on before applying to WGU? Im just now getting into cyber security, it’s ultimately what I want to be doing now. Im currently taking an IT course on Coursea, is there anything else I should be studying? Any certificates I need to obtain? Etc. thanks!

I specifically want to specialize in digital forensics. Any advice would help!
@@dejsusnovas7741 I would do the google cybersecurity cert and start working through courses on LetsDefend go through all the foundational courses then work your way through the SOC analyst path would be my recommendation. Hope this helps. Feel free to message me on LinkedIn!

Is the math hard
It's doable the resources are sufficient to become proficient enough to pass
I wanted to go to them but they require either a) job experience, b) a cert already. Neither of which I have. Lol. They aren’t exactly a good route for entry level. Or people looking to just break into the field
Id disagree I know plenty who are entry level currentley in the program. You just may not move as fast. You can get the google cert to meet the admissiom requirements by the way.
@@AppliedConsistencyCYBER that’s kinda my point. Entry level is supposed to be no experience, no formal training hence the name. But requiring people to either a)have experience or b) credentials already immediately removes the entry level part.
@@robert907 cybersecurity requires a base of skills in things such as networking, hardware, and sysadmin type things. The courses in WGU start at that base and build from there so agree to disagree on my end.

@robert907 I didn't have any experience or cert and I got accepted. I took classes on sophia which transfered and my military transferred also

how the exam works
Tests are proctored, Certifications follow the certification bodies exam procedures. You'll need a webcam

How is anyone qualify for financial aid to pay it all the way??
Can you get straight away into the subject matters or u have to be stuck on English 101 and math 052 to get to the real meat & potato
You can fill out a FAFSA form and submit for scholarships. There are general ed requirements but they are minimal compared to other programs. But yes you will be getting into actual Cyber classes in your first term.
Hello..so i contacted the WGU addmission. I asked for the cybersecurity and information assurance BS. And also asked about the crrtifications they didnt give me any clearification on certs but my BS would take me 5 and a half years to finish and theres no other way to speed up lol. I talked to two different admissionists. They say same things

Hold up hold up? But did you get an entry level cybersecurity analyst job? I think it’s important to illustrate if you did because if this was simply how to get a fast bachelors a bunch of
Certs ( which are very much needed) but no experience in applying for jobs and how to kill the interview? Because tbh the bachelor’s is no where near hard even in a traditional setting, assuming you have in sight on what a typical person does as a cyber security analyst? Such as but not limited to the analysis an “artifact” assuming you know what that is …
The you dont need a degree argument works. If you don't want one don't get one. Personally I'm going to leverage every resource and advantage I can. I cant answer your question from my perspective because I have experience and am a sec program manager. Getting the degree done fast is not the main goal. Learning and applying the fundamentals is. I do know plenty of people who have gotten jobs after WGU though and there are plenty of stories out there. I'm a year out from getting out of the Marines and my degree has opened up more options for me already in terms of job selection. You're right though the bachelors is not "hard" but its still work. My bachelors laid the foundation for me to get CISSP, CISM, CASP, and CISA a month after graduating. Will these alone get me a job? Nope a holistic approach is required and I am taking a holistic approach. If you're suggesting people should not learn the fundamentals and validate that through certifications and education I think that's bad advice esp when aimed at entry level folks. You did say certs are needed but this video was not meant to be a 100% solution but about an education opportunity which is one piece of the puzzle. WGU just has a lot of value to offer 🤷♀
