    Daym... this is truly the era of video game innovation. Gen X got to experience humanity at it's peak of creativity. We didn't get games made on Unreal engine, each game was made from scratch by people who loved making games, and it showed! That era founded all modern day games styles from FPS, strategy, RPG, platformer, shooter and everything in between. To this day, many of those games have more substinance then their modern equivlents. Thanks for bringing me back!

    Love that you have Little Big Adventure 2 as the thumbnail, main reason I clicked the video honestly. Countless hours of my 4 and 5 year old time were spent uselessly trying to get anywhere in the game until I finally got older and could make any headway.

      And now without the hassle that we had to go through in the 90s to get them running. I think most of those who talk about nostalgia or the "Golden Age" of PC gaming tend to forget that part. Or they never had to deal with it.

      I always felt bad for Farmer Ted for always losing and being in last place. When I finally worked up the top of the rankings, maxed out my vehicle upgrades and beat Duke Nukem I went back and raced the lower tier races again that Farmer Ted competed in, destroyed the other vehicles and allowed him to win so that his ranking could improve. 😂😂

    • @krakenatemyboss
      @krakenatemyboss  2 роки тому +10

      X-COM was terribly scary and dark, especially the chryssalids that turned your soldiers into zombies, but the game literally riveted to itself with its atmospheric. I really enjoyed reading new research and learning something about aliens and weapons. In the second part, the music and the atmosphere are even more viscous and oppressive because the action takes place in the ocean)

When Mechwarrior 3 and 4 were released I was given gold copies (pre-master) of them both with one condition: That I reviewed them. Not much of a condition but I did have to sign stuff promising I wouldn't leak the version I had, again, no problem ;). As a bit of a techie I also got to test a few bits of interesting hardware (a DVD decoder card - standard PCs couldn't read video directly from a DVD) and one of the first batch of 3DFx graphics cards in the UK (now that was incredible for the time). Nowadays games aren't what they use to... back then serious adult people with heavy programing and math and god knows what backgrounds and lots of passion pioneered gaming into existence. Nowadays is just profit, kids and stupid managers dictating... sc***w the money and bring back the passion, the creativity, the insanely immersive worlds.... I remember buying PC-Games magazines each month so I could follow the production of each new game. Now is just chaos and the same flashy s***t over and over. Where's the creativity, the beautiful color pallets, the deep stories ? MFs making money that's what....

    I have this weird thing where every 2 years I forget what Electro Body was and then ponder "what the hell was that game??" for an hour until I track it back down.
    Odd question but since you are a resource for these games I've been trying to remember a game from a long, long time ago. I can only relate the details I remember. It took place on a spaceship and was essentially a collection of minigames. Some examples of the minigames: Catching alien vomit in a barf bag that alien tourists would vomit out of their UFO. Astronaut golfing on an alien planet with phlegm. Saving cows from being abducted by UFOs. Stopping girl scouts on the front lawn of a house, I think this one was based on Galaga.
    The game was kind of humorous. I don't really remember anything else about it. The command deck of the spaceship was sort of the hub where you'd start all of the minigames. If by chance you'd have any knowledge of this game I'd be super grateful! Either way thank you.

    I'm looking for an old DOS game i had in some floopy disks that were that kind of point click game or arrow moving. The plot was something about a man that had a time-travel bike-like vehicle and you would use it to travel from some eras. I remember he in a dinossaur era on the demo version. If anyone remember this game, tell me please.

    I've been trying to remember a game I played in this generation. I was born in 88 so it would have been between 95 and 2000 and probably a few years old. It was a top down battle simulator with really rough pixelated units. I remember something like elves and dwarves. The most striking detail was a special ability called "boomerang" and it sent a boomerang around the unit about 3 times. Archers could spin in a circle to shoot arrows in all directions. The idea was you controlled one unit at a time during a big battle and did the best using the most powerful units. Does this sound like anything you remember seeing? Thanks if you see this!
