frank bank, ken Osmond, jerry mathers and tony dow deserve payment for anytime leave it to beaver is shown, not just writers and producers. without the actors, no show. support these fine actors
Frank and Ken sound like wonderful people, as do many of the alumni from LITB. Glad to see that Frank, Ken, Jerry, and Tony all stayed close to Barbara over the years.
@Doug Durrum - I would be grateful that the company chose me over hundreds of others and made me famous while they took all the financial risks. Then I would use that fame they gave me to further my own career and financial well being.
It is such a shame each one of the actors in "Leave it to Beaver" should be millionaires many times over. The show is still on re runs, on internet, and box set; all of which NONE of the actors are paid anything... CRIMINAL . It is too bad fans all over the world cannot sign a petition to get this to court, so they could get paid their DUE payments from internet, box set sales, and yes TV... Rest in peace, Mr. Bank. Hang in there Mr. Ken Osmond; and thank you for your service to the people as a police man for many years! And of course, than you for the wonderful memories of "Leave it to Beaver". MCM - Michael Clinton Martin
And to those who've passed on, the money earned from those residuals should go to their estates(Frank Bank, Hugh Beaumont, Barbara Billingsley, etcetera). The money should be paid out of the private accounts of the greedy putrid MCA executives and also out of the funds so greedily accumulated by MCA itself.
Someone commented they shouldn't get residuals. The problem is that many of the Beaver stars ended up getting typecast and could no longer make it as an actor. They really should get a piece of the pie.
@Doug Durrum - The entertainment business has always been tough and will likely always be tough. Untold millions have aspired to achieve what these guys have and fallen short.
My siblings and I watched this show religiously in our home. I still enjoy watching the reruns! The cast of Leave it to Beaver deserves what they are demanding ....they worked very hard for it....they were excellent role models for all the young children and teens who were growing up in those years. They taught us important principles that every child should learn when he's growing up, such as how to respect our parents and our elders, to stay in school, learn important morals and values, to be honest, trustworthy, to learn by our mistakes, etc. Today we need more shows like these that will help teach our children to learn these principles and more. Children and teens need guidance from parents who have good parenting techniques and who are able to nurture and instill the right values in their children. They also need good role models such as older siblings, teachers and community leaders that will also help them succeed in life by becoming responsible human beings and good citizens. I support you, Ken, 100% . Rest in peace "Lumpy". Thanks to all of you for the good memories.
That was prophetic!!! Ken wasn't far off in 2009 with the flat screen internet monitor within 10 years. Our smart TVs do that now. To me this was one of the best shows ever and they couldn't even give them a decent residual for it. I believe Dawn Wells negotiated her own residual contract, so now she gets paid for every Gilligan's Island episode being aired now. Rest in peace, Frank Bank. I'd love to meet the cast of Leave It To Beaver and just tell them thank you for helping to make the best show ever. I know their situations were dated in this show, but the context is never outdated if done properly. There were just good life lessons in the show and that is missing from a lot of things now. If any of you reading this have never seen the show, open your mind and look what is being conveyed. And while that's going on, I hope that the actors get paid for it. Take care and thanks for posting.
What a shame! Just now seeing this. . . they should be compensated for what they brought to that wonderful and iconic show that still brings so much joy to so many, generations!
How prophetic of Ken to say 10-15 years from now most people won’t have a tv in the house just an internet monitor. He had no way to know (who did?) that monitor would be your phone.
Man.....R.I.P. to both of these guys. Sad to know that they received no royalties and the show is still airing all over the world while generating lots of money. Show business is some DIRTY stuff. Makes me not even want to watch one of my favorite shows of all times anymore. Smh.....
Frank Bank was a smart and eloquent man. He wrote a great biography called "Call me Lumpy." And Ken Osmond was prophetic to the future in this for sure.
You may think that actors get paid when they make a show and it is too bad that they didn't think about residuals when they sign those contracts. Well, these guys were kids. And there, at the time, there was no way that anyone could have anticipated that their image and their work would be used for over 40 years with no additional pay. It is wrong. Contract or no contract, the studio should do the right thing and pay all involved a fair share.
And at the time 1000 other kids would have gladly taken the part. Should these actors have to give a portion of their pay to the LITB owners on any money they make in the future because that show made them famous?
Do the actors give money to the investors who put up money and then lose it? Does a carpenter you paid to build an apartment building get part of the rent when you rent it?
@Doug Durrum - No, I'm just not a commie and believe when you gladly accept a deal then years later want to change that because the venture was successful, though you did not risk big bucks to do it, is not worthy of great sympathy. Funny how people want $$$ from something that worked which someone else risked money on but they sure as hell don't want to part with any money for other ventures the investor may have lost money on.
Boy, Mr. Osmond was right about the whole internet replacing TV idea... and he said that 7 years ago. In 3 to 8 years TV and internet likely will be the same thing. Smart TV's are popular now, but in 8 years they'll be the norm just as smart phones have become the norm today.
"R. I. P. MR. BANK", thank you Mr. OSMOND for the wonderful, unforgettable memories waiting for me @ home after "a hard day @ school "w/my t.v. break: you incredible professionals on Leave it to Beaver"; you will always be Truly In My Heart Forever!♡
I just now viewed this video. I hope the SAG and its members listened to what Frank and Ken had to say. Leave It To Beaver was on the air just a short while before I was born. I have enjoyed that show since childhood and even now, I dearly enjoy watching it. These veteran actors deserve something for the countless hours or great entertainment they have brought into our homes for decades. I don't know how this vote went, but I hope all has gone well for Frank, Ken, Jerry, Tony.
R.I.P Lumpy ( frank Bank ) & Eddie ( ken Osmond) thanks for all the good shows you gave us. I totally agree with you both. Most people today has flat screens & we r being spied on & alexia is spying too.
Just remember everyone the cast of FRIENDS gets roughly $20 million per year in residuals and Leave It To Beaver is 10x times that show. Both of these men should have retired millionaires several times over. Instead it went to whoever owns the rights to distribute it around the world.
I wonder how all of this played out? The entire Leave It To Beaver series is at archive dot org now - all perfectly legal, it's a legit site. So I have to assume the show is in the public domain now. That's good - if the actors didn't get paid for the reruns, NOBODY should.
If any company is making money off showing reruns than the actors should be paid also. These actors are who people remember. Rip to Lumpy and Eddie. Thank you both for standing up for actors rights.
Ken Osmond was spot on with his prophecy about no tv’s, large screen monitors with every thing over the internet. Today we have Smart TV’s which access the internet to watch anything and everything you can imagine!
Thanks guys! Let's hope your efforts pay off and this horrible contract is voted down! The AMPTP needs to hear from the SAG membership that we are worth more than they think we are!
Frank and ken were. Really funny on leave it to beaver respect your elders is the most important thing in life cause my grandmothers had told me growing up and I stuck with that glad you said that Frank thank
It's a wonder these actors pass so early....... So, much greed, and they feel no shame! Just remember these attorneys will promise you a chunk of change, but will come after you when the tables are turrned........
I pray both of these talents rest in peace. They were right. These greedy entertainment bosses, producers and all those raking in big money for the work these actors did. Shameful.
Let us fast forward now, its nearly June of 2012. Please bring me up to speed. What happened? I remember these guys very fondly. I watched Beaver religiously when it originally aired.
Frank Bank was far from the empty headed Lumpy Rutherford. He was in in a pilot for series based on Archie after Beaver was cancelled. The sponsor was derisively insuting about Lumpy and declined the show.I hope that pilot still exists,I'd like to see it.
I got a subscription to Peacock and watch the show LITB everyday then I also watch it on MeTv I truly love this show and Frank I loved you as Lumpy and Ken as Eddie you guys were great ! Still .
I think they got a 7 year window after 1963 for residuals according to Mathers and Dow in an interview 2 years ago. Both admitted it was modest money was better than nothing at all. Then this limited term residual ended forever. Most shows in black and white did not get any residuals so someone is making money to this day other than the actors. Eventually this issue will end with the actors dying, and SAG admin know this. Really a bad deal for a show as popular as this and very unfair. RIP both of you for putting up a fight for what is right.
I’ve heard over these years that Hollywood was a sorry organization. Yes it’s big rib off that’s those actors didn’t get any credit or get paid. For all their reruns.
While I totally sympathize with both Frank Bank & Ken Osmond and are both entitled to their rightful percentage of residuals from Leave It To Beaver,it's not as if they've both been starving on Skid Row ever since it got cancelled.Even from personal appearances and the odd acting gig, they're still doing better than your Average Joe.
Littlle problem being a kid and legal contracts. Under 18 didnt think contracts binding. Why would they give a bone. But i guess may not know whats going on.

Frank Bank did the right thing by not accepting that contract. He was right don’t be afraid to stand up for what’s right.Rip.
R.I.P. Frank. You were great in the role of Lumpy. Moreover, you did very well after "Leave It To Beaver".
Frank and Ken sound like wonderful people, as do many of the alumni from LITB. Glad to see that Frank, Ken, Jerry, and Tony all stayed close to Barbara over the years.
RIP Lumpy (MR Bank) You will be missed. Thank you for the great entertainment you gave us while growing up.
Leave It to Beaver was one of my favorite shows and I still watch the reruns to this day
Frank Bank passed on April 13, 2013. 1 day after his 71st birthday. R.I.P
That is so incredibly sad that these actors are represented and treated so unfairly.
I enjoyed watching this show everyday.
Without these actors , the producers would have nothing. The profits should be shared with these fine actors . All they are asking for is a fair share

These are those great liberal minds who pretend to support the guy. They are just greedy democRATS !
Someone commented they shouldn't get residuals. The problem is that many of the Beaver stars ended up getting typecast and could no longer make it as an actor. They really should get a piece of the pie.
Exactly, Pyrolonn!
They deserve the WHOLE DAMN PIE, THE PRODUCERS TAKING YOUR RESIDUALS ARE ASSHOLES
And 100 other actors would gladly have taken the role.

Ken was 100% correct. I'd like to go back to the old millennium.
Rest in Peace,Lumpy.
What a shame! Just now seeing this. . . they should be compensated for what they brought to that wonderful and iconic show that still brings so much joy to so many, generations!
They were compensated. They, with their attorney, signed the contracts.
@Doug Durrum They signed a legal contract. They are to honor that contract. Maybe they do deserve more, but it's their own fault.
RIP Ken Osmond
Classic cast of Leave It To Beaver, RIP Lumpy!!!

RESPECT YOUR ELDERS!!!
PAY THESE ICONS WHO PAVED THE WAY!!!!!
These actors were utterly exploited, especially the younger ones, in those days.
@Alexander Hutchison - Yep, and 100 others would gladly have taken the job.
@Doug Durrum - Are these thespians starving or something?
Frank Bank aka Lumpy was no "BIG BOOB" at all. Smartest of the whole cast. Rest in Heaven Frank Bank and Ken Osmond.
RIP Lump!
Well Ken Osmond is now gone, RIP Eddie.
Really impressive speech by Mr Banks.
Thank you, Lump.

I pray that Tony Dow gets better now that he has pneumonia and I also pray for all of us that have health problems
This is a really good man.Really decent and just plain GOOD.
If a person doesn't look after him or herself, you have troubles. No need to get mean, but watch out for yourselves. These two are absolutely correct!
Jerry Mathers is the only one that got a good deal. He said in an interview that he got a good residual that would be a decent income for life.
Apparently his attorney was better than the others. So who is to blame?
These two gentlemen shared a lot of wisdom. They paid their dues. Much respect.
The SAG is giving Lumpy and Eddie the business.
What a disgrace, I never knew the facts abort the residuals ;nothing short of criminal
Haha! Good one! But I agree with them. They should have got some kind of royalty.
The 4 main characters deserved 80% residuals the rest should split 20%
Wonderful video! So good to see you both healthy and well. I hope SAG members listen!
Producers simply need to ask themselves, "What would Ward Cleaver do?"
Ward Cleaver was very hard on the Beaver.
I just now viewed this video. I hope the SAG and its members listened to what Frank and Ken had to say. Leave It To Beaver was on the air just a short while before I was born. Those guys made the show too. It took ALL of them to make the show success.
R.I.P Lumpy ( frank Bank ) & Eddie ( ken Osmond) thanks for all the good shows you gave us. I totally agree with you both. Most people today has flat screens & we r being spied on & alexia is spying too.
Lumpy...Frank Bank was the best!!!!!
Frank was a very intelligent man and a great actor on Beaver.
Just remember everyone the cast of FRIENDS gets roughly $20 million per year in residuals and Leave It To Beaver is 10x times that show. Both of these men should have retired millionaires several times over. Instead it went to whoever owns the rights to distribute it around the world.
Sad but true ...

I would hate to think it was Joe Connelly and Bob Mosher's fault but was it their fault?
Then again.... Actors being paid multiple MILLIONS of dollars for several weeks work is ..INSANE beyond.
What lousy royalties you have there mrs cleaver.....thank you eddie
Ken was pretty spot on about the net...we're almost there
If any company is making money off showing reruns than the actors should be paid also. These actors are who people remember. Rip to Lumpy and Eddie. Thank you both for standing up for actors rights.
I couldn't have said it better WarriorSpirit, these guys deserve better for bringing such joy into our childhoods.Do we have any updates.

God bless these two. Figures the big noses in Challahwood would try to deny the workers their rightful pay.
Your comment is anti Semtic
00:17 He got that wrong. Other series such as "I Love Lucy" have been running longer.
Love u guys. Still check out Leave it to Beaver.. you guys are so great
Much respect to these two guys, & especially Ken (gone way too soon) for his time @ LAPD.

I could NOT STAND "Lumpy" Clarence Rutherford, NOR his "Daddy", he was indeed a "Stuffed shirt" so was Ken Osmond, (IMO)

Absolutely 💯. Thank you for your honesty. With you 100%
Much respect Mr. Bank
Hire a lawyer take them to court fight for your money you deserve it
Rip lumpy
Nice last words Lumpy, I salute you brother 😎👍
Wow. This explains a lot of what's been going on. Ken Osmond was prophetic. We all have flat screen computer monitors along with the internet.
RIP Ken and Frank

I heard that Whitey was the one who really had problems. No one talking about him.
RIP to both
Watching leave it to beaver now. Wonderful show and the actors got the shaft.
My favorite show of all time, but you guys should have worked that out in the beginning, just like a lot of other folks in your shoes didn't do.
So many of the old time actors got rooked.
They are two war weary soldiers from the Golden Era of Television.
Littlle problem being a kid and legal contracts. Under 18 didnt think contracts binding. Why would they give a bone. But i guess may not know whats going on.
Love you two
This is an outrage. "Leave it to Beaver" reruns have been continuously playing since the show ended. The actors deserve their FAIR SHARE!
come on eddie don't let lumpy pick on you like that ha ha.
What a shame that the no-talents involved in the industry continuously rake in millions off the labor of the writers, actors, and directors while talents like Frank Bank and Ken Osmond, not to mention the other stellar cast members of Leave It To Beaver, get nothing in residuals. It's the actors we pay to see, not the dumb fucks and their lawyers.
You, or your parents on your behalf, signed a contract. End of story.
Actors are like ball players: hired hands. The owners and producers with the capital take the risk and make it happen.
this is such a crime...for a show as great as Leave it to Beaver" was, and the moral compass it provided without forcing it on it's audience. It's also still airing everyday..only show in history to ever accomplish that, yet thses fine people don't get residuals ? total bull shit
i agree 100% with Mr.Bank and Mr.Osmond may both rest in peace
Welp ken rip but we still have tv 10 years later
