I'm really glad I subscribed to you. These songs are great. And every once in a while my 89 year old father hears a few notes he remembers. lol. Thanks for all the fantastic music.
I found this by accident, looking for Mary Martin's performance of this song in the film "Rhythm On the River..." I saw that it was recorded the same year as that film was made. The performance, arrangement, and PRODUCTION of this monaural recording are absolutely astonishing. I have been a working professional musician for almost 50 years: How is it that I'd never even heard of this wonderful, hip, and tasteful singer before tonight? I'm actually a little embarrassed.
tuxguys Gosh, I knew about Bea Wain for years, as she was on a lot of the Larry Clinton Orchestra's 78's and Transcriptions. This leads me to believe that you're unfamiliar with the Larry Clinton band. A great performance to be sure, but who added that God-awful artificial reverberation I'm hearing? It's terrible, but again, the performance is great.
Yes, RCA-Victor had a few LP's of Clinton, worth looking for, and there are some of the transcriptions which generally have better sound than the 78's, on the Hindsight label and the Circle label. He also did an LP in 1957 for RCA-Victor. Bea Wain is not on that release.
There is a pure version here, under Bea WAIN: ua-cam.com/video/WJ8UmHJTMMQ/v-deo.html&pp=ygUlSSBEb24ndCBXYW50IFRvIENyeSBBbnltb3JlICBiZWEgd2Fpbg%3D%3D#searching

What a song! The first phrase starts on a 9th and ends on a 9th then the second phrase ends on that same note but it's a 6th. What a melody! Wow😄
🤣🤣🤣
My god what a voice.

Larry Clinton...
I've played arrangements associated with his band, but I don't believe I've ever heard one of his recordings. Recommendations?
