I am using E71T-GS, 0.035” on a Forney 140FC-i to weld on 1/8 inch steel. First I did some T-Joints and then a cut and etch test, I was impressed with the weld penetration. It’s similar if not identical to the results of a 7018 stick rod. I am a stick rod man, but I like to keep an open mind.
I realized I did it wrong. I did a year of welding and some of the knowledge has faded so I do a little research and well not everything on the internet is correct so I had my leads wrong. Thanks for the comment.
Country Handyman thank you for this video.I just got off the phone with Forney. This is what I was told..Stick is 100 amps , mig is 140amps & tig is 100amps.. The numbers on the dial represents about 10 amps each.. 1=10, 2=20 amps etc to 10=100 amps..UPDATE::::: ...In the manual it says the numbers on the dial are NOT the actual amperage, voltage or wire speed . Its a scale..
You are right. This welder according to the specs is a 110 amp but thats with tig. This this is advertised as a 140 amp welder( i will call forney about this ). I just bought this welder if you turn it upside down and look at the specs stick is 80amps Max @30%duty cycle. , mig is 90amps @30% duty cycle & tig is 110amps @20%duty cycle
Set your wire speed and your voltage lower. Adjust accordingly it should have a smooth sizzle sound. Stick setting better with 3/32" 7018, about 65-75 smps. Slag should peel off when cooling down. Hard to say i never used the forney 140mp. I have the forney 100st 90amp welder. I also have a jobsmart 125amp fc, amico arc 140 and the hobart handler 140. Good review.
Hey zero nine james thanks for the comment, I really wanted to know why i got so much spatter and I swear that flux core is ran dcep but I read about the blue demon wire and it runs dcen, the stick is weak, I need to buy rod that will run with it, I plan on getting a amico welder. I would like the amico 160. Yeah I mentioned in the live stream better qulity. I wish I got more of this in it. I will definitely update the welder and get better rod for it.
@@countryhandyman1064 welcome, i learned welding on my own from University of UA-cam welders, lol. So lot of trial and error. Using shielding gas for mig setting is dcep. I forgot to comment on that. Hope this helps out little more. My jobsmart is a dedicated flux core and my hobart is running gas. I utilize all welders on certain builds and mix up during a build.
I run the 10lb spool of lincoln nr211mp .035 wire fc. I havent try the blue demon as of yet. Forney wire is good too, i use on occasions when i run out of the lincoln wire. Hobart wire terrible when tried it, but was on ac though. Havent try it on new dc conversion on the jobsmart.
Replacement liner is available. Forney part#100202. To get one, it would probably be easiest to just call their customer service. Mig gun replacement is also available.
I saw your shirt, I live pretty close to there. I'm thinking about going to NPC for their welding certificate. You mentioned welding class, is that where you went and if so what'd you think about it? Thanks.
It’s a pretty good class. They teach you all about welding and your machines. They don’t teach you much about fabrication. But if you do all the required welding and pass the welding test, jobs will want you.
Ex welder here. For you guy that think you need a chipping hammer...its bullshit....Needle nose pliers...Feed/cut your wire....chip away flux,arc,ect....Used to build some of the biggest offshore oil figs in the gulf of Mexico at Gulf marine in Ingleside,Texas....Needle nose are your best friend. The only tool you need after welding.
Sweet that is noted. I still need to get me a pair. If you weld good you shouldn’t need a chipping hammer. That’s what I learned in school. I’m not the best welder so I just made a cheep one that gets the job done.
You where who is was hoping would help, I guess it wouldnt be able to push the wire out with a plastic wheel. But I knew something about it was plastic.
Country Handyman I don’t think any flux core welder no matter how cheap has plastic wheels. It has to have strong enough little teeth to push the wire through and I don’t think plastic could do that.
Preciate the video bud. Keep that stinger in your hand and you’ll be just fine. Also, just use 3/32 rods at 90amps on this machine and you can weld anything you will need to at home.
Yes AC Roads on a DC Welding! Yes I have welded more then a time or two! If you look at the Package it says can be ran With AC or DC welders. Thanks for the comment.
Whenever I see 7018 AC rods I throw it out. Stuff is junk. Puddle is different doesnt move the way it should. Slag is different too. Wouldnt reccomend it
Connor Mcleod that’s just because you don’t know how to use it. 7018 is one of the most used rods in construction. Most buildings you see, and most pipelines are welded with 7018, after the root is welded with, usually 6010, or sometimes TIG’d. It’s also an easy rod to run.
Get a pair of MIG pliers. You’ll destroy everything with that needle nose. It’s a $400 multiprocess welder. For that price, it’s fine, as is the torch, work clamp and stinger. The stinger only really needs to open 3/16” because that welder can’t weld 1/4” rods. Even 3/16” will just barely work. The HF accessories aren’t any better, though their newer, more expensive lines of welders are actually pretty good.
u didnt show enuff on wire feed welding thats what we ezee welders want and thats what thz welder is - cant fin any good vidz that cover wire feed welding reel good whts up?
I will be doing a better review on this welder coming soon. Remember to subscribe so you can find it when I do.
Nice welder, FORNEY is the best. I have two Easy Weld machines: 140 FC i and the 180 ST and they are fantastic. Thank you for sharing.

Good review. To illuminate the spatter when using gasless fluxcore, you should run it on DCEN. Just switch the leads inside the machine.
I realized I did it wrong. I did a year of welding and some of the knowledge has faded so I do a little research and well not everything on the internet is correct so I had my leads wrong. Thanks for the comment.
You can switch it on the front on these Robert.

Yes, that is what I understood. It’s nice to know that it is just a x10 scale. Thank you.

I heard that the Blue Demon E71t11 wire gets better penetration, is that true, and will it run in the Forney 140 FCI?

@@countryhandyman1064 flux core runs better on dcen, i converted my jobsmart to dc. And spatter is less now with less bb's sticking to material.
Ok, I used to do a welding class and I forgot a lot and trying to relearn it but thank you for the help and the sub.

What size is the knurled side of the drive roll?

Can i use flux core wire on this?
King Compilation that’s what this welder is made for
This welder can do flux core. It also has a gas connection for mig and tig. The tig tour has is sold separate. You can also stick weld with it.
Century FC 90 has steel wheels with plastic housing.
You where who is was hoping would help, I guess it wouldnt be able to push the wire out with a plastic wheel. But I knew something about it was plastic.

Yes as I read your comment I relized that

Yes I got to ambitious and tried the 1/8 rod but I will keep running the 3/32. Love welding and can’t wait to get on some projects

It’s a great welder for $400. I will get some mig pliers. I think I will just weld with 3/32 rods and it will be a great Bobbie welder.
Good choice. You shouldn’t have any problems with that.

Why all the Forney welders are in green color. If it were in red, will look more sturdy.
