You have your more 'mainstream' and pop music lovers, but there is a vast audience for more alternative music that most of the time does not rely on repetitiveness and recognition.

Gramatik is awesome though, sometimes change is a good thing, it means you don't get bored of the same old sound. Admittedly though I do agree with what you're saying, I love Pretty Lights for no changing too drastically but in my opinion, Gramatik is still great.
