His descending picking is incredibly different to Yngwie’s. Yngwie always starts a new string on a down stroke whether it’s the one above or below, he incorporates a downpick-uppick-pulloff to land on the down pick when descending. Katsu starts each descending string with an upstroke and uses traditional economy picking.
There’s some trivial bullshit for anyone who cares.
There’s a reason why. Yngwie uses alternate picking on descending 3-note sequences but instead of going down > up > down, he uses down > up > pull-off so it ends with an upstroke and it makes sense to land a down stroke on the next string. Its kinda like a corner cutting approach to alternate picking (hence why it sounds fast). For ascending he just pretty uses economy picking.
I guess it's quite randomly asking but does anybody know of a good site to watch new movies online?
@Cristiano Langston try flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
@Cristiano Jax Yea, have been using flixzone for years myself =)
That is the LAZIEST comment promotion spam I have ever seen. What an odd choice of video to do it on too. Cristiano?! C’maaaahn!
I love Katsu Ohta. I'm the biggest Yngwie fan there is, but I still love Katsu. He's a bad man.
I agree, I've been listening to yngwie forever and katsu is also one of my favorites

Gracias 0 gte
Fantastic. I hope Katsu still helps keep this genre alive!
Joe Stump, Ritchie Blackmore (on acid!) and Yngwie Malmsteen, COMBINED!
That's a great killer combo in my sonic book! ;-)
He sounds like the young prime Yngwie . From Alcatraz to his early stuff . Know matter what clone this that the other . Bad Assed is Bad Assed . Playing pure n simple . The man is very good .
Perfection
I had just this magazin in Korea. and I tried very hard but I never finished this song.
there's much to learn though. He is awesome.
Listen at katsu ohta micronist 2 here on youtube, it starts with a great song.
So many Yngwie clones in Japan...but that's a good thing though. Yngwie still is popular in Japan.
clone! lol kid
those little Vienna Sausage fingers.
honestly never seen a guy with a left hand this relaxed. It's like it's barely moving. Makes it super hard to figure out what he's playing lol
His left hand is so efficient yet clean, fuck.
That was 4 years ago but yes, playing Yngwie patterns in general requires a specific downward sweep technique combined with pull offs.
As you switch string upwards the fretting hand is doing a pull off or legato while the picking hand is free and ready for the next pick attack.
This technique is very efficient but tight and limited to one direction. If your pull off/legato game is not good enough the notes can be silent and your whole sound will be inconsistent.
Shred it up bro!
This is amazing! anyone has the guitar tab of the excercises?
Japanese Malmsteen
This is amazing! Anyone have the PDF?
Man, do you have the young guitar 2004 dvd? That Ancient Knight Demo is absolutely sick.
hhhhm, this dude reminds me of somebody else... give me a minute... hhhhm... Brian May..? No... Petrucci...? hhm, no... AAAH, now I got it... so obvious... B.B. King!!
Julian Scott Brian is God.
Interesting Things Haha, yes, he is awesome! but I hope you know I was just kidding :-)
of course I know you were kidding; I also referred to the "Clapton is God" graffitti

Micro ? Dimarzio ? Or yjm fury ?
This video is 10 years old so these have to be the Dimarzio Malmsteen Pickups
Which model head does he use?
BAD SOUND- GREAT SONG
He damn good BUT i would prefer he creates his own personality and be original...no doubt he has great talent..but fell into yngwie wannabe..look at jasob becker, vinnie moore im surr they insipired by yngwie BUT they managed to sound diff..they sound original...no offencr im a fan of yngwie too
めちゃくちゃ上手いのにどうして、イングヴェイのモノマネしてるんだろ。
Very unique style, totally original, doesn't sound like anyone! LOL!
Japanese Yngwie clone, frank as hell.
We don't need another Yngwie...
*is. Learn how to right. Good he is paganini clone at least he is not another douchebag that thinks that can play guitar better than anybody. He can actually do it cuz he earned the right too.
太田カツの顔は完全に。なーんでかフラメンコの堺すすむにそっくり(笑)(^^♪
you asians!
otro imitador de ingwie como aburren !!
おばあちゃんに見える笑笑
ahhhhhhhso, Chingwie
why would you want to learn from a player who blatantly copies Malmsteen?
amazing technique , horrible tone
Whats the point? When does anyone actually listen to this?
Another malmsteen copy
this must be the worst guitar tone someone ever had
