    His descending picking is incredibly different to Yngwie’s. Yngwie always starts a new string on a down stroke whether it’s the one above or below, he incorporates a downpick-uppick-pulloff to land on the down pick when descending. Katsu starts each descending string with an upstroke and uses traditional economy picking.
    There’s some trivial bullshit for anyone who cares.

    • @Jack_von_Baron
      @Jack_von_Baron 3 роки тому +2

      There’s a reason why. Yngwie uses alternate picking on descending 3-note sequences but instead of going down > up > down, he uses down > up > pull-off so it ends with an upstroke and it makes sense to land a down stroke on the next string. Its kinda like a corner cutting approach to alternate picking (hence why it sounds fast). For ascending he just pretty uses economy picking.

    I love Katsu Ohta. I'm the biggest Yngwie fan there is, but I still love Katsu. He's a bad man.

    Joe Stump, Ritchie Blackmore (on acid!) and Yngwie Malmsteen, COMBINED!
    That's a great killer combo in my sonic book! ;-)

    • @stonerawks9882

      That was 4 years ago but yes, playing Yngwie patterns in general requires a specific downward sweep technique combined with pull offs.
      As you switch string upwards the fretting hand is doing a pull off or legato while the picking hand is free and ready for the next pick attack.
      This technique is very efficient but tight and limited to one direction. If your pull off/legato game is not good enough the notes can be silent and your whole sound will be inconsistent.

    • @taroatom4731
      @taroatom4731 23 дні тому

      うん、全然速いと思う。
      ただし、初期のイングヴェイのライブのブート版はこのカツくらいのスピードで弾いてた。
      イングヴェイの方が歪みが少ない分、正確さとクリアさはずば抜けてた。
      でも速さとクリアさ、正確さで一番はyo-お兄ちゃんだね。
      もう圧倒的すぎて敵が居ないと思う。全盛期のポール、イングヴェイ辺りよりガチで1.5倍のスピードで超正確に弾いてる。

    Lástima que con la velocidad se pierda el feeling, siempre es mejor una combinación de ambos en la medida justa, y siempre buscando lo que la música demanda, no lo que uno quiere.

      Sabes que me da mas lastima, que tanto talento fue desperdiciado imitando a malmsteen, no escucho una sola linea que no sea una copia calcada. Una lastima, se que el sonido de yngwie es algo que trascendio / unico, un lick y ya sabemos que es el, lo que lo complica y hace mas dificil sacar un sonido unico, pero no es excusa para ser una copia.
