MAYBELLINE SKIN TINT VS L'OREAL TINTED SERUM COMPARISON | DEMO + WEAR TEST

  • I'm testing out two popular drugstore skin tints or skin serums! We'll be testing out this new maybelline skin tint compared to the popular l'oreal true match nude hyaluronic tinted serum. Both are meant to give natural, light coverage that include skincare ingredients like hyaluronic acid and vitamin c.
    I have combination normal/oily skin type. So my skin gets oily throughout the day, mainly in my T-zone. I'm a big fan of the L'Oreal tinted serum already and I did a full video review on the Maybelline Super Stay skin tint recently. I do categorize my skintone to be light/medium to medium when it comes to shade matching.

    The L’Oréal one is my absolute HG🖤🔥
    I love how versatile it is, like if I wake up late and aim in a hurry it’s something I can kinda just carelessly slap on if I need to and I don’t have to worry about blending too much.
    Recently got the maybelline one and as much as I wanted to like it, I don’t know it’s just kind of dry feeling. Like if I was in a rush and I needed to just quickly put it on I think blending would be a bit more of a requirement with the Maybelline. I’m definitely going to keep using it though, maybe it’ll grow on me lol

    EXCELLENT COMPARISONS!!! I love how you said they are both great for DIFFERENT PURPOSES bc that’s what I got from it too. I am on the hunt for a daily drugstore foundation that looks like your skin but better, little to no fragrance and evens out redness and is hydrating so that’s what brought me to your video. I am going to get something different for a more full-coverage look. Based on your review, I think I’m going to go with the L’Oréal right now bc my skin is really dry but extra dry from the winter and then try the Maybelline in the summer when I need more longevity in the humidity. I like a dewy look but more toward radiant than wet. THANKS SO MUCH!!!

    I love the L'oreal skin tint it's the ONLY foundation I use and I'm on my fourth bottle. It looks so good and natural on the skin, not cakey or thick. But I have super oily skin, even using setting powder I still have to blot my face every couple of hours. Now I want to try the Maybelline one id that's a little bit more matte.

    The dry down time and matte look of maybelline is because is has denatured alcohol in its top ingredients list, I am pretty sure it might be number 3 on its list, that’s why I can’t use it, I have dry skin, I would have to prep my skin so much, so I just prefer to stay away from denatured alcohol unless it’s further down the the ingredients list. They both look good on you.

    • @ByKristinaStudio
      @ByKristinaStudio  10 місяців тому +1

      Thank you for sharing that info! That’s so unfortunate that the ingredients exclude your skin type 😕 so are you a fan of the L’Oréal tint since it seems to be geared more towards dry skin?

      @@ByKristinaStudio I actually haven’t tried it yet, I need a little more coverage, because I tanned in my younger years and have some sun spots on my face, I actually use the bounce skin tint by beauty blender. It is light, but has more coverage and doesn’t sink into lines or pores, I have mature skin, I am 56 tho, and didn’t start taking care of my skin until I was 50, so I try to let everyone know the importance of a good skin care regimen and spf., I wish I would of been smarter, skin care was not as well known about when I was a teenager. I am thinking about trying it though after watching your video, especially for days at home when I want a little something. • @ByKristinaStudio
      @ByKristinaStudio  10 місяців тому +6

      Hey! I feel like brands use skin tint and tinted moisturizer synonymously.
      For me, I would compare this more to a thin foundation though because of the amount of coverage I'm able to get. When I think tinted moisturizer, I assume the base is mainly for moisture with a hint of color to offset any skin discoloration.

    I actually do think the amount of shine/oiliness coming through is more noticeable on the L'Oreal side! However just my 2 cents as someone with dry skin, I found neither of these hydrating. I still like them and wear them but have to prep well.
    I have flakiness from retinol on top of my already dry skin and the L'Oreal one still requires a thick moisturizer underneath, if that helps anyone 😁 I would recommend the Neutrogena foundation serum for dry skin or if you have flakiness - that one actually feels like skincare

    • @vanessaarroyo1620
      @vanessaarroyo1620 8 місяців тому

      @@cucumberpufway9108 if you have dry skin I don't think either of them are hydrating so they are equally drying in my opinion. If you have normal skin, either should work similarly. If you have texture or larger pores, I felt the Maybelline one emphasized them more, so it might give a bit more of a "cakey" appearance if you use a lot of product. I don't like a lot of foundation so I very rarely have this problem with any foundation looking cakey because I will barely use a pump for my whole face. I'd say Maybelline has better coverage and shade range. Hope that helps

I have to use elf makeup remover, tissue off, and then cleanse with soap. And even with toner, there's still a bit left. Even using less than demonstrated, it's still tough to remove. I'm just confused about the hyaluronic acid bc normally when you use a hyaluronic acid serum, you are suppose to apply to damp skin and then follow with a moisturizer for it to work properly. But when its in the foundation, you can't follow those steps. So I'm not sure if it really does what it's suppose to do and I heard if you don't follow those steps for hyaluronic acid it will make your skin dry. And the exact opposite of the purpose. Am I just overthinking it?!

    • @ByKristinaStudio
      @ByKristinaStudio  6 місяців тому

      That’s a valid concern and something I haven’t thought about! Maybe the assumption is that you put it onto already moisturized, hydrated skin? And it pulls from your existing skincare. But honestly I never rely on makeup for my skincare so I almost feel like the skincare in it is like a “btw this is in it” but not actually doing much 🤷🏻‍♀️

    I can’t find the video of you putting the L’Oréal serum foundation into another container to use as a cushion foundation. Can you link it please? Thanks!

      It was a Reel on my Instagram! I can't link it or it'll flag the comment as spam. But the thumbnail is the bottle being poured in the container!

    Opposite for me! Loreal gives me a matte finish, the maybelline gave me a radiant / dewy finish!

    It would be helpful if you mentioned which side was which during each of the check ins. Especially since they are mirrored.

    I always find it so funny that youtubers always make a point to say how unsanitary it is to touch your foundation dropper to your face, but use concealer wands and things like the rare beauty blush wand on the face every day 😂

      Someone else said that they were both a bit drying on their dry skin! They recommended the neutrogena foundation serum instead. My skin is dry and I have the maybelline fit me dewy and smooth foundation and I like it a lot! I often apply it with a damp sponge/beauty blender for a more sheer and natural finish

    I watched Dacey’s review (from 6 months ago) comparison right before yours which you posted 7 months ago. I mean, I’m not insinuating anything but the verbiage in her video is basically the same as yours. 😂

    I’ve used this on several elderly women with dryer skin. It’s fantastic for them. Much better than for Younger women with oiliness in the T zone. I’ve tried it on younger gals, but tinted bb creams were a winner for oilier skin. Very close to natural skin, good coverage with very little oil seepage.

      I’m older with fairly normal skin. Does this build up well? I do like more of a foundation than a tint.
