Thank you for your common sense approach to everything you do. Just basically teaching how to service these old appliances and tools and making them work like they’re supposed to. Thank you! 💯💕👊👍
I really enjoyed your video. It brought back memories of my childhood. I remember the good old days when you would walk in a department store and the first thing you would see were all the different types of fans running with streamers attached to the front of their grills.
Thank you! My grandfather head one very much like this when I was growing up and I can still see him on his favorite chair in the living room with his feet up on it. These actually do work very well.
I've restored a metal one that looked like a 1940's version of this. It's essentially the same thing but I would bet more durable in metal. if you oil it the motor will run nearly forever.
Mine is a box fan similar age on a swivel. I bought it on auction, took it home…started up, but slower at first. I used some canned air quick, couple drops of oil, all good. Now after running daily for a couple months, startup has slowed again. I kinda wonder if it couldn’t be the speed capacitor. I’d assume it would act similarly? Any chance you know a place if that’s so?
What a cool piece of furniture!
Thanks! Quite useful too.
Nice repair and cleanup. Probably just a dirty motor. Thanks for the video
Thanks! That's my guess too. Leaving household appliances in a Florida garage leads to trouble.

Much appreciated, thanks! It's a great hobby and the results can be rewarding. This fan is now in almost daily use here in Florida.

Holy cow! Even with the dust, that thing is damn near immaculate! Nice find!
Thanks! Hiding under the dirt and scratches was a fan that almost looks new.
Great looking fans you a nice job restoring it to it's original condition. Thanks for sharing your expertise
Thanks! This one turned out to be in great condition under all of that dust. I was surprised by how well the scratches cleaned up.
never seen one in my life! But what a beautiful thing. And its colours match your old wooden flooring and the vintage rug! Win, win!
They were fairly common when I was a kid. I agree, generally I'm not a fan of late 1960's and 1970's colors but this one is nice.
@@floridarusticrepairs Maybe common there, but certainly not in Australia!
@@clayauslewis4236 You'd be the expert on that one. :)
@@floridarusticrepairs Oi,oi,oi!
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this thing!!!!!!
ALSO, I am 'nerdy' like this, But I like how you talk your way through to solving issues that arise.....
Got to talk though it. it gets lonely out there. :)
I have one that is very old.metal .Yours looks like a newer version.
I need to restore mine but it runs fine

You may be correct about the speed regulator being the cause. It may also be the brushes wearing out. What brand is it?
I have this same model, but it is badged as a "Dayton".
That's really interesting. I've seen it badged as a Galaxy but it seems more like Dayton would have been the source. Thanks for the info!
