  • Today, we're in Canada for the 90th anniversary meet of one of the oldest live steam clubs in North America: Montreal Live Steamers in Les Cedres, Quebec.
There are trains running on both the 7-1/4 inch gauge ground line and the 3-1/2 and 4-3/4 inch dual gauge high line. Plus, we get some Canada Day fireworks!

Looked like an awesome area. Nice to see Canadian rolling stock & locos.
Did customs wonder what you had ?

@scottleidenberger4401 Customs: Sometimes they ask about the train, and sometimes they don't. I always come back with the same equipment I go up with.

Too bad you didn´t warn me. I would have like to meet you. Just 30 km west. I planted trees there in winter 2006-2007 when i had to move big things farther away. Trees are a big plus there if you don´t want to bake in hot windless days.
Glad you enjoyed it and share with us. How easy/hard is it to pass customs with your stuff ?

@danielfantino1714 I've crossed the border many times with a loco and a riding car with me. They give you less trouble if you're not pulling a trailer. The main thing to remember is to always have a manifest of what you're hauling and how many containers it's all in. For my setup, it's simple: locomotive and cars, one container (the car). If you have a pickup and a trailer with equipment in each, then briefly describe what's in each.
For example: Pickup bed: locomotives. Trailer: riding cars. Containers: 2
There's a form you can pick up before crossing the border, and it can be used multiple times. You're basically declaring that you're exporting, but you'll be reimporting upon re-entry.

For fans of 7 1/4" gauge railways, here's a guy just starting his build at his home:
