- in this video i explore the phenomena in young black men are pressured into stereotypes over time, how the black community polices its own image, and how we can improve the image of the black community overall.
this may be interpretted in a manner i did not intend to express. however, i am confident enough in the material that i’m sure it will pass anyway.
Thanks for this. I'm 45 years old. Had this been around when I was a younger would have really put things into perspective. We need more content from brothers like you. Keep it up.
i’m glad you related, i’m kind of anxious to see how this will effect my life when it circulates through the network. you know what happened to oj after he said he wasn’t black.
If a certain group with an agenda who own and controls Hollywood, music industry and media these differences would not exist.
the video content itself was thought provoking, that little mix you spliced together was *chefs kiss*
So basically its House slaves and field slaves thats what it all comes down to what's shitty it's like that same mentality has followed us from generation to generation the field slaves didn't like house slaves because in their minds the house slaves felt like they were better than them the same thing applies today within the black community
interesting perspective, i’d like to hear more about what you mean.
This was very thought provoking. As a white, it's been a long road to deprogramming the internalized racism. I think the main reason people tend to become more racist over time is because of the cognitive dissonance. Some people can't stomach the fact that they hurt people, so it's easier to just keep digging deeper. I have always seen myself as someone who wasn't racist, but I kept having moments where I slipped up due to how I was raised. It's painful and cringe.
starting to see spaceships.
Lol I’m white raised in a black neighborhood and I’ve felt all of this. Literally rejected the middle class lifestyle and refused to speak in anything but Ebonics until recently. Born in 2001 I don’t know if that plays into it
yeah, i did that for a while i was staying in portland, but it was more so because i became heavily invested in more ebonic art, so my characted followed my immediate influences. started smoking weed around the same time, though i dont think it was related. there just isnt much to do in a small town.
The more important you believe your skin color to be , the less important you are to me
I’ve been down this road before. Had a co worker tell me I wasn’t black because of the way I speak and present myself. I had to explain to him that he had slave mentality and that same mentality is why some black people can’t progress in life. You seem young and like you’ve been hurt by the fact that you’re different. I’m telling you from experience, as long as the people you love and care about accept you that’s all that matters
thought it was gonna be satire but tbh I know exactly what he's talking about since i've always lived with and around white people even though im not
We're Black Men and we are individuals, Not fitting into Black Culture poverty harmed Us as a race than Helped. Thank you Brother ♥
thank you 🩵
OOF! I can relate so much to this video.
The first time in my life I saw this topic being actively discussed was from that Fresh Prince episode where Carlton wasn't deemed black by that fraternity guy. (S4E8 "Blood is Thicker Than Mud")
Yeah, I hated it (still do) very much constantly having stereotypical expectations pushed on me all the time, never asking or respecting what **I** want.
This is an amazing video that as someone with dark skin, I can relate, I rather be viewed as an ordinary person and judged on my character than the color of my skin, this includes the sterotypes and expectations that come with it. And I fully support this message, please keep preaching this because ur making our culture healthier step by step and view by view.
i’m glad you felt moved by the message, it’s important to me cause it led to so much conflict woth kids my age, so anything to help bridge that gap is a win in my eyes.
I've had this problem just the way the small majority of pther black people in my area look at me or visiting my dad were it's predominantly a black neighbour hood, even my dad looks at me weird nut he's aloud 😂😂, I still continue to be myself whoever ask me questions why I'm not like "other black people" I just say because I don't follow the same path as most do. And that weird look turns into a weird smile or nervous face. Just be yourself 😂
Eloquently orated.✊🏿
Very important and much needed video
Glad you liked it. i wish someone had my back when i was younger so i hope this can help more black kids not struggle woth their identity today.
I’m neither black nor white so I have no horse in this race. But this is a really good message.
thank you for being open to it despite not relating.
fucking amazing video elyle.
Respect
Not obsessed with race, but pontificating on race. Makes sense.
you be race-blind all you want but if everyone keeps talking about, it tends to cross your mind.
@@nosomev I'm not race blind. And black people are not a monolith.
Say it with me, what this fellow brother is saying is straight facts!
😂❤❤❤ so true
