Thank You. I have been adding leaves, ripped up plain paper, kitchen scraps that I chop into small pieces into my pots. Then I was thinking I was crazy. I’m so glad I am just sensible and not wasteful. I figure organic stuff breaks down. I have bought potting soil. But everything useful is getting very expensive. I’m 71 and live in apartment. Didn’t garden for awhile. Now after watching your program and others it’s fantastic to know we can all grow some food. God bless us all in these troubled times. Now I will use toilet paper rolls too.
It's winter here in Australia and at 8 am I am sitting in a warm bed trying to convince myself to get up and I found this. Love how you do things Robbie I have watched your videos for a few years now. This particular one has given me the incentive to get up and get into my garden. It's a beautiful sunny day but has a cold wind. I am going to do just what you have just shown us and plant some lettuce.
Yowsa!!! Hit the jackpot with this one. You need to get this as a classroom series once schools open up again. Imagine all the future little farmers❤🍅🌱🍆
My whole backyard is weeds. I never use any cuttings, wish I could. I’m afraid that just weeds will grow and take over just like my yard. I inherited this yard, I’m a grass lover. Yes, soil is expensive and all are NOT created equal. I have used drying flowers that my husband had given me. I compost everything now….all thanks to you. My husband looks at me like I’m crazy but I tell him oh no, Robbie says and shows you that it CAN be done.😁 I now have a plastic storage container with a lid sitting on my counter for all my kitchen scraps. Love me some Kitty.🥰 Hello there my sweet girl. Tfs.🤗
You made me laugh out loud when you said, "I don't even know what I'm going to plant in here.😅 I went to buy fish food and found a cheap lavender colored tote and smaller white tote with holes all in it. I told my friends "I must be addicted 😂...I don't even know what I'm going to plant here" Now I keep my eye out for anything thrown out to put totes on. 😅 I have used up all the lawn chairs in my garden. Lol Thank you beloved Robbie ❤️💕 you have brought me such joy at a difficult 💓 time of my life. You made me crave tote gardening 🤗 Pat from southern Indiana.
I’m planning on doing a couple of totes and chairs on my balcony this spring. I love that I can set up 1 or 2 and not commit to a whole raised bed but still have the same amount of growing space.
Love your videos Robbie I'm from Canada so we have a shorter season I planted CUC plants in a tote using compost etc I save all my compost now Thanks...love your videos
I'm in Canada too..just started binge watching her videos and want to start composting and planting...think its too late to start planting things? im new at this
Hi Robbie & Gary! I just wanted to say THANK YOU so much for this channel! I started watching and learning from you just a bit before all this current stuff. I restarted gardening last year but jn a very different climate than what I was used to. I cannot tell you how much I enjoy you and this channel! You are so delightful AND insightful! I am in Florida zone 10a so we are about the same... just some different things with climate, pests, etc. Overall most things still apply. I have already learned so much from you. I LOVE that you reuse things also! I just appreciate you so much! 💘 💗 ♥ 💓 💛 Thank you! I look forward to each and every video 😁
You are so fun, a kindred spirit; I think. Your method is perfect: inexpensive, chemical-free, innovative, and prolific. I think I'll experiment with one tote, growing greens indoors. Thank you. Have a lovely day.
U r the 😎 koolest! I am so inspired by all your videos! Love all the great ideas & reusable items because I hate throwing plastics or glass away! Love & light to u & your growing loves 🌱🌎🌌🙏🐝
Just a tip on ants. I went to water my cucumber plant a few days ago and massive ants came out the drain holes. I mixed about a quarter cup of hydrogen peroxide in about a quart of water and flooded it. Ants gone. It doesn't hurt the plant, either. Hydrogen peroxide is good for a lot of insects and plant diseases. UA-cam has videos on it's use.
Facinating!! I'm going to start shredding old documents, and toilet paper tubes and fill all the old leaves and stuff..I have rabbits so I will use some of the manure, leaves and fill all of what you mentioned 🦋 Best wishes from Puerto Rico, Thankyou! 💕
Suuuper excited, I just started my first plastic-bin-compost-in-place-on-a-plastic-chair raised bed! It is small - I have a couple red pepper plants and then herbs (parsley, basil, lemongrass, and thyme), but it is PERFECT for the weird blank spot in my flower garden :) Mom is bringing me some mint for a second big planter. I have plans for next spring - planing in July in Missouri probably wasn't the *best* idea, but I figure this year is my "practice year", and next year I've got plans for carrots, zucchini, walking onions, etc. :) I LOVE your videos!
Love your planting tutorials. I don't have a green thumb but i enjoy watching you prepare the totes. I'm deathly afraid of worms and maggots even with gloves on. I have bad back and knees and your tote gardens are amazing.
Hi Robbie, love your videos! I Garden like you do, kind of free and easy and I mix a lot of things together. Would you consider doing a video on how you organize all your seeds? That's one of my problem areas, keeping track of my seeds and knowing what to plant when. I live in the midwest so I have to start over again in the spring. Would love to see a video on seed organization.
Our city will be having a trash to treasure event. June 4th is a community yard sale and June 5th people will leave stuff by the road so people can grab something if they like it instead of throwing it out. I should look for those chairs.
Love your channel, love it when you teach like this. I love your tours also, I just love to watch you and Gary both. By the way, snakes can get in your open soil bags the same as worms can.
Open bags are a problem as bugs get in there and make their homes. In California, where I am from (San Diego) it's not unusual for scorpions and centipedes to get in there to stay cool. Gloves are a must. Additionally, I find if I keep containers upright and empty, lizards get in and cannot get out as the sides are too slippery. So now I stash my containers upside down.
You don't know it, Robbie, but you and your videos are a part of my days. I learn from you and Gary with each video. I happen to like the long ones. Where did you get that great scoop?
I had a bag of soil on my deck....with a bunch of baby snakes that came out of it one warmer sunny day, last summer! There were a bunch, maybe 10-15, little baby snakes! I emptied that bag of soil! Lesson learned.... now I don't leave bags of dirt on the deck! Good thing I like snakes and they don't scare me!!! LOL!
Greetings! I love your way of gardening, so simple and easy! I like those chairs with the pots of healthy veggies! Yum! No bending gardening. Thank you for sharing! Stay cool and safe.😍
I love every thing you do!!!!!! with the humming birds and the gardening!! If I'm down in the dumps I just turn on Robbieand she makes me smile !!! I made a foutain for my grandson thank you Robbie !!!!!! Iwant to know if I can buy some of Gary's purple yams I can't seem to find them. They are sold out?
I have found that the chairs kind of slant backwards and I have to prop them up in the back so the water will drain out the front Other than that I love it cause I have a LOT of centipede grass
Would love to do the Chairish garden...maybe will set up a few. In central FL , from June till November, we're always victimized by hurricanes, tornadoes, and just some strong storm winds...so don't want to be moving it all back and forth depending on the weather. Love the chair painting idea. 🌹🌹🌹🌾🥀🍃🌺💐
Sometimes I direct the water to a bucket, and sometimes I just direct it to the ground. I don’t need holes in the chairs because the holes are on the side of the totes.
I am enjoying your vlog so much! I want to make a fountain badly! When I get the money, I will buy a solar fountain. Have you watched the vlog called Winter Sowing with Sheryl Mann? She buys Happy Frog potting soil for milk/water containers. She uses seeds to sow starting in Jan in zone 6 or 7, and March/April in Zone 5. I am having success with what she teaches. I LOVE what you are teaching. I bought 1600 of compost (Soil3). I love the chair idea so much. I have a small vlog that is not monetized if you want to see it.
I grow lots of mint, I LOVE mint, but mint will take over a tote, and I want to grow other things in there, so I try to keep the mint in other places, like a flower pot, OR their own tote. I just do not compost mint either because it will grow in my compost and I want to know where it is growing, and plant it where I want it, not where it decides to grow, thanks, Robbie
For plants that like acid. like blueberries, (?)hydrangea,(?)azaleas, (?)rhododendron , things you see that grow well around pine trees. I'm not sure of other foods that like acid in their soil. But you can look up acid soil loving edible plants & or flowers. Companion gardening using pine needles(?)
How do you call the "blue shovel with a long handle" to take your putting soil from the bag?? And where can I buy one or two of these?? Love the way to hold your plants without braking my back and yours!!! Thanks.
Silly question but does anyone know where I could find a plastic scoop like the blue one Robbie is using in this video. You can see it at the 17:32 time stamp. Any help would be appreciated.
Let me ask you ... I plant in totes on my deck which is 15 ft off the ground and is it possible it gets to hot for the plants??? My tomatoes don’t have to much fruit and yellow leaves... is it just to hot for my tomatoes plants, herbs, flowers green beans etc.????
Ok. Got a question. For all my flower pots that have those bigger holes, I put a coffee filter over the hole. They still drain but the dirt stays in. Can i still use coffee filters for the container garden, or do you want the dirt to come out with the water? Wish I had half your energy!!
I LOVE this woman. I learn the best things and smartest things from her and become a good gardener.
I guess I am quite randomly asking but does anybody know of a good place to watch new series online?
@Phillip Ephraim i would suggest flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
@Nickolas Bowen Definitely, I have been watching on FlixZone for since march myself =)
@Nickolas Bowen Thank you, signed up and it seems to work =) Appreciate it !!
@Phillip Ephraim you are welcome :)

Found you a few days ago and have been binge watching. I just love the way you garden

I love the way you put that mix together. Will you please show more companion planting? I would love to spend a day with you and your garden.
I love all your videos. I always learn something from them. Kitty is sooo cute. She’s precious!! 7:46
I Learn so much from you and love your bubbly personality. You make learning this for a newbie fun!

Me too! Music for the garden 🤩

I just last week did my tote garden. Thank you so much for all the ideas I love the Chair garden Eat what you grow !

Hi Robbie & Gary! I just love this kind of gardening! You are my kind of people! Love watching you! Getting good garden ideas from you. Thank you. ❤🙏
You're the best, Robbie
Thanks Robbie, from a future ”older” farmer 👩🌾. Just bought my first soldering tool! Let the fun begin. Smootches to little Miss Kittie. 💋
That was really fun to watch. I love your relaxed approach to gardening.
Glad you enjoyed it! I so love growing on the chairs, easy to care for and they grow Great, thanks, Robbie
I LOVE your videos, they are sooo inspiring!
I love your personality.
Thank you!
You are an inspiration thank you❤
Kitty is so cute.
Thanks, Take Care 😊

You guys are fun. I started a tot garden thanks to You and 2 birdbath and compost in place. My flowers seem to like compost in place. Thanks 🐦
Love your channel, love it when you teach like this. I love your tours also, I just love to watch you and Gary both. By the way, snakes can get in your open soil bags the same as worms can.
😯😳😦 Thanks for the heads up although I close my bags up so rain doesn't make them impossible for me to lift. I hate snakes.
Open bags are a problem as bugs get in there and make their homes. In California, where I am from (San Diego) it's not unusual for scorpions and centipedes to get in there to stay cool. You don't know it, Robbie, but you and your videos are a part of my days. I learn from you and Gary with each video. I happen to like the long ones. Where did you get that great scoop?
I think that is a water dipper. They have a set of three on Amazon. Have not ordered yet. If you get them before me let me know or how you like them.
Daiso, the Japanese store sells nice long handled dippers/scoops
Great tutorial, Robbie !! So inspiring!! It can't be easier than that and sooo much fun . Thank you. 👏 😀 🌱👵
Then bend the slats to get a little more depth to the seat.
Thank you so much Mrs. Robbie! Starting my garden and using all of your tips and ways of gardening!
Thanks for the tips!! Keep up the awesomeness!!!
🤣😂🤣😂🥰🥰🥰 Kitty is so cute🥰
Thanks
I just found your videos and I am so glad I did...your ideas are so practical. I love it.
Awesome! Thank you!

Yikes, be careful 😅
LOL, I’m always on the lookout now for chairs. Such a cute puppy, she loves the camera!
Your DIY ♻️ cake stand flower pot is so smart!
I'm so going to do this!!! Thank you so much ❤️
Pat from southern Indiana.
I love the way u garden
Can you show us how to make pickles and how you use some of your other things that you grow because we need to learn that part 2 thank you very much.
Great video Robbie, please do an update.
Great video! I love watching you put those things together.
I love the cake tier addition!!! You amaze me Robbie! Thank you so much for your Channel. I've learned so much & continue to find new ideas! :o)
Ms. Robbie I loves ur pup 😍🙏
AWESOME ROBBIE, & CUTIE PIE PUP ! THANK YOU !

Good morning! Watching you and your cute puppy as I'm drinking my coffee. LOVE your ideas❤😀
LOVE this idea, and that little sunshine guy at the back :)
I have found that the chairs kind of slant backwards and I have to prop them up in the back so the water will drain out the front
Other than that I love it cause I have a LOT of centipede grass
Love the hummingbird nest. Yeah!! Such a cute puppy 💋
Thank you for sharing! Great great tip. I'm learning alot. Im a new gardener 😀
Would love to do the Chairish garden...maybe will set up a few. Nice to b able to keep soil year after year
I just wish I still live in So. Calif.
Awesome video Robbie, such great idea, thanks for sharing!
That's a great way of starting plants Robbie. I have a problem with ants. How do you keep them out of your container gardens?
How do you minimize the flies?
Awesome thanks!!!
Love your videos!! Thank you!
Hi. Why aren’t you putting any holes into the chair and the large bin? Where will the water drain out?
Sometimes I direct the water to a bucket, and sometimes I just direct it to the ground. I don’t need holes in the chairs because the holes are on the side of the totes.
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy thank you
Good morning.
Do you ever use pine needles?
I am enjoying your vlog so much! I want to make a fountain badly! When I get the money, I will buy a solar fountain. Have you watched the vlog called Winter Sowing with Sheryl Mann? Really informative! Love it!Will do in my garden containers. Enthusiastic :).
Love watching you for gardening tips! I’d love a chair garden like yours but those chairs are $20 here in Louisiana. ☹️
Wow
Mine are 25 in Virginia but lots of outdoor sales. I am looking.
Thrift stores or get online & look for someone wanting to get rid of them - bought 12 for $20 from a guy clearing out his backyard 😊
This whole method makes sense.. forget bending down in the dirt. Put it in a container on a chair! Problem solved. Easy peasy.
Hi Robbie how are you keeping. I see your totes sit on a angel on the chair. Mustn't it be level on the chair. Anthony from South Africa Western Cape
Love your gardens! Do you hand water everything?
Robbie, What potting soil do you recommend?
I know this channel is about gardening, which I love, but you’ve mentioned dog food being irradiated so I wondered what you feed your dogs.
Why no mint? Love your videos😃😊
This is Draco’s mama Candi what about toilet paper roll with the lavender sent in it ? Can you use it?
Will smell good😊
Thank you so much for updating me about the seed starting. With the totes, can I make the holes with a drill or is the sodering iron the way to go?
You can definitely use a drill!
A hole doesn't need to be round, so I use a knife or scissors. I just make slits, and it works fine.
Do u put coffee grounds in it?
Oh Yes, take care
Good afternoon I was wounding if I can use my Christmas wealth for compost?
For plants that like acid. like blueberries, (?)hydrangea,(?)azaleas, (?)rhododendron , things you see that grow well around pine trees. I'm not sure of other foods that like acid in their soil. But you can look up acid soil loving edible plants & or flowers. Companion gardening using pine needles(?)
Sure as long as no chemicals on it
Love your videos. I started composting & I was dumping a small pot of old dirt in & there was ants! Did I ruin my compost? Help!
How do you call the "blue shovel with a long handle" to take your putting soil from the bag?? And where can I buy one or two of these?? Love the way to hold your plants without braking my back and yours!!! Thanks.
Water dipper, Amazon.
Also Japanese Daiso store in CA carries these dippers😊
Your the greatest,I've done most of your ways! But there's a lot of copycats giving out your way of doing stuff!
How about old tomato plants from last year ?
Some of my tomato plants are years old 😊
Hi robbie so the rewiews on the solar pump is it lasts only a month is that true how long does it last?
Robbie, where did you get that blue dipper ???
Daiso
Silly question but does anyone know where I could find a plastic scoop like the blue one Robbie is using in this video. You can see it at the 17:32 time stamp. Any help would be appreciated.
She answered someone else it's a water dipper, from Amazon.
Daiso also carries nice long handled water dippers & got 4 & put all over garden
Hi Robbie, can I use a Adirondack chair ? I’m about to get one from a friend, but if I can’t use it I won’t take it. As usual I love your videos. Hugs
Do you put holes underneath your totes also, or just in the front to drain in a pot, were is the water going?🤔
Robbie, were you ever on a TV show? Your voice sounds familiar.
I can't find these chairs anywhere. It's like they don't make them anymore.
Let me ask you ... I plant in totes on my deck which is 15 ft off the ground and is it possible it gets to hot for the plants??? My tomatoes don’t have to much fruit and yellow leaves... is it just to hot for my tomatoes plants, herbs, flowers green beans etc.????
Can be - closer to sun! 😊 use shade cloth
Ok. Got a question. For all my flower pots that have those bigger holes, I put a coffee filter over the hole. They still drain but the dirt stays in. Can i still use coffee filters for the container garden, or do you want the dirt to come out with the water? Wish I had half your energy!!
Use a big wad of old tulle in front of the drainage holes😊
She's got to take your camera cuz she is a diva! Heheheheh.
I want to see you cook something from your garden! Make your pizza! Please please please
Silly question: what do I do to make my cut green leaves turn to brown leaves? Just leave them in the leaves tote to rot?
😅yes
