@@habitual_linecrosser I said this in an earlier thread, but I will repeat it here because I think you did an excellent job for all of the reasons below!
It would have been nice for Buff to have a younger version of his serious, hard-ass voice that he gets from time to time -- same voice just a bit more uncertain.
When Buff puts on that voice, I get chills and start to pay attention, because I know shit just got real!
But that is just my opinion and preference.
Because everything else: his youthful nervousness, his eagerness to get out and prove himself to the veterans, even his willingness to listen to his elders was on point!!
More of my opinion here: but Buff's willingness to listen to the wisdom of his elders is probably why he is still around kicking ass and taking names!

Congress appropriated money to fund, maintain, AND upgrade the B-52 until 2050 AD, and did so years ago. We will be seeing the B-52 for decades more, and I rather hope that the extension will be put forward to 2100 AD.
As the other bombers said, your payload matters more than yourself. One of my friends who knows military equipment told me that the reason the B-52 has lasted this long is because "it's a big flying box". Its purpose is to open a hatch and drop something that will absolutely butcher the enemy. For thhat reason, you don't exactly NEED a new plane to do that unless you want stealth (like the stealth bomber plane that looks like a Batarang) or multi-purpose combat (like the F--35).

I love how much the community loves Buff and that you basically cant say anything negative about him for the rest of eternity!!!! I will only point out one negative I participated in and it isnt even Buff's fault! Many AFBes did not update their runways to accomodate the weight of a fully loaded B52, and in the early 2000s I spent a few years on a survey crew working all the layout and as-built collection while the crew chewed up and repaved a few of those runways properly.
A LOT OF WORK but it was awesome to see the huge aircraft come in and start landing, even before we were done laying out the final striping... MFers had the runway LIVE and had to radio us to clear off!!!!! Memories...

My father was in a B-52 during operation linebacker 2 in vietnam. He said the BUFF had five air-to-air kills with the enemy, and one friendly.
When I looked it up, it said there was only like 3 air-to-air kills, so who do ya believe. I know pops wasn't in the birds that had the kills. And I know how stories can be exaggerated.

(I have been informed that a B-36 aircraft, which was bigger, also existed for a brief time between 1945 AD add the B-52's introduction. Maybe OP can feature him talking to the B-52 in a future video?)
