- Today me and border collie sheepdog echo go for a refresher training session on the fundamentals
Working dog, sheepdogs, dog training vlog
We go out to work on the basics and identify if there is any problems that needs work.
Then we look specifically at listing for the command and not doing the simple things

You are one of my favorite channels! I love getting to see the working dogs and a way of life so different from my own. And way to go Echo! He is such a hard worker!
Wow, thank you!
Poor Echo. His BC brain is fixated on the rams and wants to ignore the commands. So confused. My heart just melted
Beautiful Echo is thinking, "But dad, I want to do this, my way." Practice makes perfect.
So true!
Sorry you have been sick. The flu can really be awful. Glad to see you are feeling better now, and hope that Stacey is well.
Of all the many, many UA-cam videos like this,
Yours is the best.
I could watch you, your wife, and dogs for hours.
Scotland is a beautiful place.
Best wishes to you both.
I can almost imagine Echo saying to himself "is this guy crazy, why would I do that"! Beautiful dog...love your channel.
I had the exact same thought. Like, “You want me to WHAT? Are ye daft, man?” 😂
Lol exactly, one can basically watch Echo think!
😂😂
"choose already what to do, man!" :D
😅😅😅
Rams: For pity's sake! Can't a guy have lunch without that pesky creature without horns ruining the picnic?
😂😂
"And now for something completely different: Flying Sheep!"
Absolutely amazing and fun watching Echo listening and performing his duties. However, I couldn’t help noticing how cute the sheep are when they are running 🥰
What is the boss thinking today. I’m getting dizzy. Where does he want these sheep?
Tremendous intelligence and energy in Echo...a delight to view!
Good job, Echo!❤
Thank you Sean. A beautiful thing to watch.
Glad you enjoyed it
Love watching the animals and Sean interact, the lush countryside
It’s so much fun to watch, the dogs are so smart and seem so happy.
Love how Echooooo and all working dogs enjoy their work....they seem to say," look how clever I am..hey look at meeee"..... lafffffin....look after yourself darling.....😊😊
He loves the camera
Kuum by (come by)!! Great channel, Sean - lad !!
🐾💕🐕
Thank you
Echo es una maravilla. Y las ovejas no parece que le tengan miedo, sino más bien respeto.
Sean ha hecho un gran trabajo con él.🐾🥰
Yes correct
Echo is a good boy and I love the way he wears his own little camera, I think your sheepherding films are informative and just brilliant, thank you, God bless you
Frigging awesome to watch the connection between you two
Sean you’re so great at building Echo’s strengths. Hats off to you!! Wishing good health.
Echo really earned his dinner that day! Good work Echo!
So sorry you had the flu!!! Really hope you got enough rest. The sheep and Echo are wondering the same. 😊
I love your channel!! Watching working dogs just amazes me!!
You are so kind
Love your videos and your place and your family and the DOGS ❤
I love that dog cam!! Get well soon!❤️🩹
I wonder if they get to see the playback?!
Great job Echo! And great camera work. It was really neat seeing it from Echo’s perspective as well. Beautiful video.
Echo keeps his eyes on his Shepherd. This is a great video!
Awesome Job!!! I Absolutely LOVE y’all’s life!!!😃💪🏼👍
Thanks so much!!
Glad to hear you're feeling better. Love watching through the camera Echo is wearing.
great job echo and salute to the fur parents raising echo and the rest.
He's a keen little fellah.
Those sheep got a good workout (they look great!) today. I loved the dog camera POV, made me smile when it kept tilting due to Echo’s movement when he wasn’t running. This was a great video, thank you Sean and Echo! (Hope you get over the flu vestiges quickly, Sean!)
You are so kind
I looked up that dog food, we are able to buy it in the US shipped from Europe!!! I love the " come by" command to see him take off at a full sprint!!! great video, feel better! Kristine Scarpetti, Chicago
It's so good! Thanks for watching
Thanks so much what a great video - Echo's my favorite among your pack, so beautiful, a joy to watch him work. He also seems less intense in a way than your girls, more calm and even-tempered. What a winner!
Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah he a big softie
I love your fur babies ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤take care guy’s.
Sean said previously Come By means clockwise and Away means counterclockwise 🙌
Yeah
You’re doing a fine job Echo, good boy! Sean, you are a great trainer & you and the dogs make a great sheep herding team. Miss Katie is getting rather gray, I hope she can continue to herd with you a long time. She enjoys it so.
She has plenty of time left
Love your videos! They are very educational and helpful for training tips for my dog. The extra camera for the dog's eye view is such a cool addition!
Awesome! Thank you!
We have a purebred border and a blue heeled/border mix. Amazing dogs. Wish we had animals to work them. Love your channel. Amazing to watch.
😊💕🙏🏻🇨🇦
The last vid I saw was that of the heavy rain/flooding .. it looked cold. Now to see this vid with the beautiful weather!! Quite the difference :) Your music choice went well with the training.
Thanks.
Haha welcome to Scotland don’t like the weather wait ten minutes and try again
'For heaven's sake Dad! Why do you keep giving me the wrong command? I know what I should be doing, just leave me to it.'😂😂😂
😂😂
I love this dog. ❤
That add segue was glorious. Well done.
Love watching the videos. The dogs are great.
Echo. How i wish i have a dog like u smart and hard working 🐕😉
You and Echo make a good team. Smart dog.
Love the camera footage from Echoes back.
Look at Sean's beautiful blue eyes !!
Love the dog's point of view camera work.
I absolutely love all your dogs! I'm not got at leaving comments. Sorry about that. Someone told me to leave a 'thumbs up' to help your channel so......................👍
Thank you so much!
Aw, I love Echo. He seems like such a sweetie ❤
Happy to see your better. That Flu can kill….Echo is better now? Poor baby, she had that abscess right? Happy to see her better too….beautiful video Sean ♥️
It was Storm that was sick.
@@michellejacobcik9946 Oh….Thank you for that…👍😃
Echo says.... "Practice ??? We're not talking about playing a game or anything... No, we're talking about PRACTICE !!" And with that said, Allen Iverson gave to the world, the perspective of EVERY Border Collie who says: "Training??? What do you mean, TRAINING ?? We're not talking about WORKING or anything. No, we're talking about TRAINING !!"
This is the reason why Echo is confused. He don't do no stinking TRAINING.... No, he's always geared TO WORK... and ONLY WORK !!!!
Haha
Love the camera view
He is such a good boy. Happy to hear you are on your way to being healthy again. Take care.....and Stacey take care
Thanks
Well done on the Echo cam. Fun to watch from that perspective in real time. 🏴🙏❤️
The rams must think this is something like a physical education class.
Dodge ball next week 😂
I hope you feel better soon.
Sean, I’m new to your channel. I love watching you work and train your dogs. Such a beautiful relationship you have with them, they really love you and want to please you. Today was like,…
Sean: left, left, stop, right, forward, stay, slow down, left, left, stop, right, forward.
Echo: but, the sheep are right here?
The Sheep: Can I get a bite to eat here?
Thank you
My dog is a male Bordernese (border collie/Burmnese Mountain mix), when we have our dog walk around our village, we say 'right' and he turns right, we say 'left' and he turns left. We didn't know teaching him 'Come by' or 'Away' yet because we have no sheep 😊
That was tough for Echo! Good boy :)
I wonder if dogs have a ‘soft’ side vs ‘ hard’ in relation to left or right directionals. Good job Echo and Sean!
Echo's a cute smarty pants.
What a good boy!
I should like to be one of Sean’s BCs. That would be the life!
Wonderful!
love your channel
I love when Echo gets too close to the sheep. 😅must be hard to keep the dogs from chasing the sheep in a playful way
Echo: omigod, have you learnt nothing in all this time, Dad? I can see that you need a little bit of work. *gives doggie side-eye*
😂😂
Echo did so well with the whistle commands. Is there a reason you are using voice commands? Are there different situations for each?
Love the hard work from both of you!
Yes they are but in this case I was just looking at the basics
My dog would sleep for a week after that much exercise!
Awesome Video !
Thanks!
Hi there, I know it was an ad but thanks for telling us what they eat. I am new to watching your channel and wondered myself what they eat. With such high energy dogs, I also wondered how much they eat because they surely burn alot of calories when working!
Welcome! Yeah the love to eat for sure
Sean
Do the dogs ever bark?
Another good video. ! Glad you are getting over the flu.😊
Thanks
It almost looks like it's harder to herd two animals than a bigger herd because there is no "herd mind." Most of the time I think herd animals try to stick in a group. When there's only two, the 'divide and distract' technique works better for the whole survival instinct.
Smaller herds are harder than large ones as the sheep don’t follow each other as well
Wow this is so interesting 😊
Despite working in all kinds of weather, your dogs seem quite clean and well groomed. What do you do to keep them looking so good?
I love that good boi ♥️.
I had heard somewhere that they used border collies natural prey drive but harnessed to drive the sheep or cattle but not attack and kill. Not sure if that is true.
But, Dad! I know what to do!! 🤨
So when you say "come by" does that mean go to the left? It would be cool to know what you are saying like the dog knows but I don't LOL!
Do the sheep understand any commands?
Echo👍
What does “steady” tell your dogs to do?
Slow down
How are you getting on with training them to respond to the whistled commands?
Still ok getting there
What breed of sheep are these black ones? I grew up on a ranch/farm in the Sierra Nevada’s in California; we raised 3 breeds: carucul for wool and 2 others for wool and meat. Wondering if they’re caracul? Thank you! 🌻
They are Hebridean sheep
Have you got any literature or materials regarding sheep training that you could recomand?
Not really, more self taught
Silly ?. If you were not to give the command "lie down", the dog would continue on, nipping at the sheeps rear? Or just causing panic and splitting the herd? Hello from Stuart Florida
It’s all about control of the pressure from the dog to the sheep
❤️❤️❤️
Echo says, “Make up your mind! Now you’re just messing with me. “
Beautiful Echo 💐
Right?!
Absolutely fascinating watching you work with your dogs. You’re very good at what you do. I never thought I would be so interested in watching something like this but I’m always looking forward to your next video. Thank you for all your hard work, (and the dogs), to not only entertain us but to also educate us on the inner workings of sheep farming. 🙂🙂
Thank you very much!
Love seeing Echo’s view of things with the camera strapped on him.
Great wee training session, wonderful dogs these border collies.
Get well Sean 🏴
Thank you, glad you enjoyed
Sorry you had the flu & glad you're doing better. Thank you for another fun video!
Blessings for health and strength, dear Sean. Love your channel and skills with training!
Thanks for watching!
No flu shots? Luckily, you don't have pre-existing conditions like I do ( hypothyroidism at birth, ADAD, Diabetes2, and HP). I caught Covid and almost died. C.S. Lewis said "our dogs"-and I think our other pets too-"will be in heaven before we will." I want to think so.
That was fun! At one point the rams figured out that it wasn't about them being moved, just dog work, and settled into nibbling grass. Thanks for the nice video.
So true!the rams don’t move too much
LOl, I was absolutely wondering if the rams were thinking 'am I being trained too or should I just try to be scared'!!
This does so much for my mental health. All of it. The Rams, Sean, the countryside and of course those incredible dogs!
I don't know if I'm more in aww with you as a trainer Sean or how smart these babies are! It's so fascinating to watch and your all such a great team! Thanks for sharing!
Wow, thank you!
❤❤ Another superb video! The doggie cam gives us an excellent view of the exercise. Glad you are on the mend, be safe ❤❤
Thank you very much!
Such a pleasure to watch Echo in action. Wouldn’t want to be a sheep 😂🐑🐕 And Sean, you’re doing a great job with your channel. Sorry you had the flu but glad you’re nearly fully recovered. All the best
Thanks 👍
Echo, "Just when I thought I knew what this game was about, hooman changes the rules!" 😂❤😂
What a wonderful dog.
I've had horses like Echo: they listen well for a little bit, especially when reviewing training, but then they think training time should be over. "Ok, that was nice but I'm ready to be finished, now." That's when training really starts! LOL
