Tango Tangles is a 1914 film written, directed and produced by • Mack Sennett , starring • Fatty Arbuckle and • Charlie Chaplin and Ford Sterling . In this film Charlie Chaplin appears without a mustache and wearing an elegant evening gown. It was the last film in which he starred alongside Ford Sterling*, Sterling in fact leaving *Keystone shortly after the film's release. With the departure of Sterling and director Henry Lehrman who followed him to Universal , Charlie Chaplin became Keystone's first star.

Synopsis . (00:09) A dance contest is about to take place in a ballroom; among the first to arrive is a rather drunken little man (Charlie Chaplin, 00:35) who is immediately attracted to the pretty cloakroom girl (01:46). But also vying for the girl's good graces are the bandleader (Ford Sterling) and his big clarinet player (Fatty Arbuckle); the two begin to quarrel (03:04), thus leaving the field clear for the little man, who manages to steal a dance from the maiden (03:33), arousing the jealousy of the two musicians. The first to confront the little man is the bandleader (05:15), but as soon as he wins his girl back, the big jealous musician comes at him (07:09). Forced to flee, the bandleader again clashes with the tipsy little man and (08:13) the brawl begins again, ending in the defeat of both.

At 25 years old, Charlie is just a kid. This is the 2nd motion picture I've seen of Charlie without his mustache. The first one was 'The woman' 😅 135 years later, and he still is making people of all ages giggle.

Petit court métrage de 1914 tourné dans les studios Keystones de Mack Sennette. A conservé très rare. Chaplin et Fatty qui était déjà une vedette à l époque.
