I think shopify are just taking the wee tbh. Expensive subscription fee for no reason and then a list of regular fees that every platform has. So what exactly is the subscription paying for.
You need to remember that currency converting for paypal and other payment methods usually have a currency conversion, which applies additional money.
That makes sense, it does feel a little steep though! x
I think for your basic Shopify plan, the transactional fee is 2% of the order value. This would mean if you sell a product for £100, Shopify will charge £2 (2% of £100) as the transaction fee.
The additional 25p is likely their basic fixed fee which they charge per transaction, depending on the payment gateway you’re using. I'm guessing if you use a third-party payment gateway it would cost more.
Basically if you make a sale of £100, you would be charged a total of £2.25 thats £97.75 taken off your product plus not including other fees from shopify or third-party apps. Know your numbers 😢
Also as you know the online UK orders for online transactions in the UK, the transaction fee is 2% plus 25p per transaction. However, for international or American Express credit card transactions online, the rate are 3.1% plus 25p I think 🤔 and your in-person transactions fee is 1.6%, with no additional surcharge which is lower than the online transaction fee I think 🤔 so its different fee for international sales on Shopify, an additional currency conversion fee is charged. This fee is 2% in most regions and 1.5% in the US. It’s added to the converted price that your customer pays and is charged when the payment is done. This fee is included on top of the standard transaction fees, we'll that's what is said.

Yes the 2% is based on the total value that goes through shopify's payment transaction system, so that's including the value of the P&P

@@elianamckee Yeah, theshopify charge is based on the service they are providing for you by facilitating the transaction, so from that perspective it doesn’t matter to shopify they charge the fee based on to total amount exchanged regardless of what it’s for
