I appreciate your beautiful performances and this rare opportunity to hear the differences in each different style of those guitars. It would be wonderful to know the string length of those instruments so that I could learn how the different string length makes different tones.
Wow! :-O ;-) :-) Mario
This is incredible! Almost all of these are museum-worthy pieces, but it's wonderful to see them out and being played. Amazing collection and great playing! This is one of the best videos I've seen on all of UA-cam, in terms of the sheer amount of content presented. Everyone should be required to watch this!
Amazing the sheer sound quality and beauty of inlays of 19th Century French luthiers' guitars. My pick? Well, the Friederich (in this case 20th Century) is wonderful and the tone is notably more contemporary. The Gerard, the Vincente Arias and the Zimmerman impressed me also followed by the Lacote and the Genaro. Finally, the Torres, which maybe deserves high tension black strings... Anyway, amazing collection, playing and setting. Kudos to David Jaques for this very inspiring moment. I am now looking in the market for a 19th Century classical guitar.
Merci encore
It is so great how you bring back to life those wonderful guitars. Wonderful sound and playing. I can't help to think about the different lifes of the previous owners of theses guitars through the time. Thanks!
Toe tapping, heart touching, soul soothing concert that I will revisit many times. Thank you so very much. I wish I could have been in the concert hall for this.
I’m not trying to be a prick but it was only an hour. I mean, I’m not even close to a master And I used to play five hours from memory on the sidewalk, in Tippecanoe... for like $30-$50..... oh me oh my....I mean I’m sure he has ten times this memorized. I am actually angry that I’ve had so many setbacks I can’t even play for three hours from memory now, I should be doing ten hours... as hard as I’ve worked at it...
Eccezionale!!!! Grazie!!!!
That Arcas “Bolero” was the best I’ve heard so far of that particularly piece too. But I mean... I’ve only heard about twelve people doing it maybe and half of them were Ametuers...
Thanks for posting! Fascinating video. I enjoyed hearing the various guitars - a portion of the 'Claude Hyppolite Colllin' guitar fretboard looked worn to the point it appeared to be scalloped (100:48 - 101:28 )! !!
Thank you Antoine! What a beautiful guitar concert! This is the happiest and most lovely music. What is the French and English name for the design inside of the guitar opening as on his third guitar (from Naples).
The Guiot looks quite much like a Panormo and many of the Panormo's also have a seven fan bracing. So i wonder who copied who. Very interesting to hear the difference between the two here. I prefere the Panormo but that's a matter of personal taste. The Torres of course is also sensational. Not in vain he has become famous during lifetime. The Torres made a big step towards the modern spanish guitar in terms of the sound and also it's construction ofcourse. That italian guitar by Gennaro de Roma is also an intersting guitar although in my opinion it sounds a bit box like and antiquated compared to spanish guitars of that epoch. That Lacote is of interst too ofcourse. I assume he got famous for a reason too. The guitar sounds good. Those french guitars have their own voice. They should not be coparred with the spanish guitars of that epoch although they are. The Soriot has a long sustain and many natural harmonics. It's a pretty good guitar too. Very interesting demonstration of all those antique guitars. Thank you!
This is so good. It highlights what a beautiful sounding instrument the guitar is and the historical progression is fascinating. Will you make this concert available for purchase as a hi res audio download?
david jacques mines a couple blocks of wood bolted together. I need to find a fancy one though. lol with the little pillow inside the quilting and such.

So happy to see this gentleman has such a wonderful collection of guitars, he deserves them because he plays and looks after them so well.
This whole performance is like a museum.

What was even more impressive was that, you memorized all that.

He is a french canadian. To hear miles away, haha.
You don’t like my accent? 😉
@@davidjacques2024 No problem. I just noticed it. Thanks for the video. That's really very interesting for anyone interested in antique guitars.
Much more pleasing to the ear than that frenetic Parisian French.
