Really good explanation and just what I needed. Had a fence replaced but soon after had to remove 3 rotten birches, which led to loss of privacy from neighbors. Only practical option (I’m a senior female and planting more trees, waiting for them to reach maturity wasn’t gonna work), was applying lattice to existing fence. Just couldn’t figure out how to do it effectively since I didn’t have posts to adhere lattice. And I wanted my contractor to do it right! So happy I kept searching UA-cam until I found your video. Great job and easy for this ole’ lady to understand so now I can ‘supervise’ that it’s done correctly. I have high east winds to contend with so seeing how u reinforced the lattice was additionally just a bonus. Thank you!
This has been my exact idea for the last two years and have been looking for THIS video so I can make sure that what I wanted to do was achievable and safe enough and can be removed if it becomes a problem and here you go being my diy privacy screen savior. Thank you. Now my rambling makes sense and I’m headed to HD to complete my overdue project.
Excellent, thank you. I have been thinking about doing something like this on my deck. Now with this video you shared, I can go forward, and do it. Thank you.
Didn't you use a pocket hole jig to attach the 4 x 4? Also, so the materials you used for this project are the following, correct? 4 x 4 - for posts 3.5in Deck screws 2 x 4 - for the frame 2in brad nails Please let me know if anything is missing. Thanks
I’d use a pocket hole jig on the 4x4’s then plug the hole. Looks like a great idea. I’d be concerned where I live that the 3-4 times a year we get 60+mph winds it would blow off.

This was soooooo helpful!!! This is exactly what I was trying to do on my deck but no one had a video until I found this one. Thanks again!!!!!!
Exactly what I want but have no idea how to do it. I wish you would have filmed it as you built it . It’s very nice

Excellent, thank you. I have been thinking about doing something like this on my deck. Now with this video you shared, I can go forward, and do it. Thank you.

Awesomeness ❤️
WoW …. This was exactly what I wanted to build. I live in the city. So I really need privacy.
Lattice is a beautiful feature until you have stain/waterproof it every other year.
I concur. Thanks.

Loved the video! How high did you make that? 3 feet?
6' total
This is exactly what I want to do on my deck. I have zero carpentry skills. May attempt this. Wish me luck
You can do it with pretty much all right angles. Good luck.
Awesome job! Thank you for posting. Is this non treated or pressure treated wood? I'm about to attempt this myself.
It is treated lumber.
Can you add a closeup of the outside finish ?...thanks !

It's as strong as the railing. We get 40mph winds, no issues yet.
What length did you cut the 4x4s to? Looks around 36".
What size nails/screws did you use to attach the lattice?
I need to trim my toenails. 😂
Did you have to cut any lattice? If so, was it easy to do?
Circular saw, doesn't have to be exact being the 2x2s allow for some error. Just make sure your cut misses the staples.
Thank you.
Last question. Are your posts 4 foot high? (i.e are u using 4ftx8ft lattice)?
@@paulscozzari1787post that I added were 3 feet. Because of this had to buy 4x8 lattice
Why wouldn't you have done 4 foot high 4by4 and then wouldn't have to cut the lattice? I guess it's more expensive using 4 foot high screen.
No privacy for your legs and feet though
I used bamboo.
Thanks, man.
Looks great
