    I wish I lived near your class, instead I will subscribe and thank you in advance. I live in a remote area, and have had my silks for one week, and it has been a blast to say the least. I am one year out of back surgery and working my body back into shape. It is going to be tough, but I am going to do it. Thank you in advance. I will be following.

    I'm just getting into my teens and I'm starting classes in a few weeks! I'm not very flexible but I do have decent upper-body strength! Any Advice?

      Just start stretching because that whole not very flexible thing may come back to bit you. I made the mistake of not stretching because none of the tricks I learnt at first needed them. But now I’m gonna make a fool of myself in front of 200 people when I can’t split but everyone else can. So start early and every day!!

    WHAT??? on my first class we were climbing and doing tricks like footlock and candy cand and on my third class we were doing drops

    • @roaringdoe
      @roaringdoe 7 років тому +12

      That sounds incredibly unsafe :(

    • @Eli_Skipjack
      @Eli_Skipjack 7 років тому +1

      The reason it was safe, was because my teacher knew we were ready to do more advanced moves, not just throwing us into things we were not ready for.

    • @roaringdoe
      @roaringdoe 7 років тому +9

      Elizabeth Peters If you were all truly beginner students, there's no way you would have had the strength or stamina to do drops safely. Climbing and footlocks, sure. But letting very beginners do drops is unsafe, even if they seem "ready".

    • @Eli_Skipjack
      @Eli_Skipjack 7 років тому +5

      Most of us in the class at the time had some to a lot of gymnastics experience, and it was a small class too so we all got a lot of personal attention. I am still taking classes with the same teacher, and she always takes safety as a high priority. I understand now that this is not what 99% of aerial students do as a beginner(I wrote this comment years ago, I didn't know back then), but I know my teacher wouldn't have let us do it if we were not ready.

      Only just seen this! We teach complete beginners who can't lift themselves AT ALL. So we teach the basics and I mean the basics to build strength so students learn safely and progress without injuring themselves. But everyone teaches differently, this is just how we teach here. If I have someone who can hold their weight then they progress at a quicker pace, it really depends on the individual.

    Cool cool but where I learn putting a knot in the silks makes it a silk sling

    • @EmilysPoleFitness

      +Lupus Black We start in a hitch knot then work on moves without it. Everyone has different names for everything :)

    Please someone answer, I really wanna do this but I wanna make sure I'm not gonna look like an idiot..😪😅

    im planning on buying an aerial silk, and tying it to the tree in my garden. As i am a beginner, i know this isn't safe. i know i shouldnt do this at all, but can u suggest things that'll make it easier/safer for me?

    • @amber7376
      @amber7376 5 років тому +1

      Kiki Kitty Hope this isn't too late. Have the tree checked to see how much weight and force it can handle, (baring in mind that different moves generate different forces). Buy some thick mats! Find yourself a spotter(someone to help you, and make sure you don't fall.), ideally with keen attention to details, and quick reflexes, especially if they don't have any experience with this sort of thing. Don't buy cheap fabric, buy quality! Look at how stretchy the fabric is(less stretch is easier for climbs, and beginners in general, medium to high is good for drops, and high is good for fluidity). Work on pulling yourself up, and inverting with a wrist lock first, then move on to a simple eggnot, then a single footlock. Try simple tricks first. Don't try new things, or anything you're not 100% sure about alone. Don't do drops alone. Start off low to the ground. Now your body, and your limits. Research all moves properly, don't do risky things. Hope this helps and Good Luck!♥️

    Hi, I want to buy the "silk" cloth that you climb.
    How do you get the strength to climb?

    • @EmilysPoleFitness
      @EmilysPoleFitness  6 років тому

      You build up your strength over time with lots of conditioning exercises :) I buy all my silks from firetoys.com

    I know this video is old but I have a question for you.....
    Where do you buy your circus outfits??

    • @EmilysPoleFitness
      @EmilysPoleFitness  7 років тому

      In this video I am just wearing a top I bought from a high street shop, probably H&M. Got the leggings from eBay (cotton ones) and the leotard from Dance Direct :)
      I put my outfits together from random things usually. I have a lot of costumes, weird clothes etc ha ha. I get a lot from eBay too :)

    how about if i have fear of heights? should i still give it a try?

    • @julesgreen2970
      @julesgreen2970 7 років тому

      naty123 if it's something you're truly interested in then I would definitely recommend it!! It's a really good way to exercise while having lots of fun and I think it could possibly slowly help you get over your fear of heights. You normally learn tricks and practice them close to the ground so you'll be able stay low until you're ready to climb up some
