Everyone of them really did shine in this performance. Josh's improvements, that's really impressive. Jah opening the song with his solemn tone. Pablo being Pablo, we know he's soooo good. Ken's low voice! Damn and Stell's consistency is something to admire. These boys deserve everything and more!

It is about children taking care of their parents now that they are old, its payback respect to their parents. SB19 is dedicated this song fir their parents for their achievements
I feel like many non-Filipinos do tend to assume at first that it’s a sad song due to unfamiliarity with the culture, but I’m glad the message came through in the end. The idea of giving back to your parents/family is so ingrained here. The lyrics are so layered with different meanings as well.
Glad you saw this version - I think vocally speaking, it’s currently the best recorded version they’ve done out there.
this is generally a thank you song to the parents but i like hearing how the message transcends to any and all people around the world. it's just amazing how a song can have a lot of interpretations but it all boils down to acknowledging that our parents were the first to be our fans and supported us from the very beginning. they might have a different take on how they raise us but it's all the same in one regard, they love us.
That last line "ako na" means volunteering to do something. It can be anything. But in the context of the song and what SB19 wants to convey is that they are now volunteering or taking charge of taking care of their parents.

That is a tribute to all the loving and hardworking parents out there. It was during the pandemic that the boys talked amongst themselves, with Pablo asking them what would they like to say to their parents. They were actually doing their laundry at that time. Hahahahaha. The parents are still alive, and they want to take the burden of the responsibilities away from them now that they have the means to do it, most especially financially. Josh has been living on his own since he was 15 years old but now he has his mom and sister back with him. All of them takes good care of their parents.
You may also react to their ballads as those songs really showcase their vocals (Hanggang sa Huli, Tilaluha, Nyebe) and their dance practices of Go Up, Bazinga, What and Wyat. Look for Korean Round Festival as they represented the Philippines and performed 5 songs at 2am outside of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. These boys are simply amazing!

MAPA is also the Filipino term for MAP.
So MAPA has double meaning. It symbolizes both our parents as well as a map who is our guide so we can reach our destination. MAP is a symbolism used by SB19 for our parents who is our guide in life. We are able to reach our goals in life because of the GUIDANCE that our parents did for us.

It's a tribute to their parents/guardians for being their guide (map) in life as they were growing up. Culturally, in the PH, children want to take care of their parents when they are old and pay back all the sacrifices they've done and love they've shared to bring up their children. When children turns adults, they wish for their parents to already stop working, to sit back and to enjoy life since it's their children's turn to take care of them now.
For majortiy of Filipino children, this is their "dream" since life in the PH is very difficult and to be able to live a decent and comfortable life not only for themselves but also for their parents/guardians becomes a life-long dream!

SB19 is known as a PPop group but they're also being called Boyband because they also sing not just pop songs but also ballad songs with great harmonies.
MAPA is about showing gratitude to the parents and then taking care of the parents or worries of the parents just like how parents have taken care of them when they were still kids. Hence, the lataratara lullaby in the beginning.
The map that they're talking about in the song is the journey that they make in their lives and that they have their map which also means Mama and Papa (mapa Tagalog word for map) who guided them as they grow so they won't get lost along their journey because they know where they came from.

They had a 2-day online concert where this is the ending song one night. The parents showed up, except for Ken's as his parents are working in Malaysia and he only saw them personally once in his life. He and his sister grew up with his grandparents. His grandfather and father are both pastors. He was clapping and very happy for his groupmates. Well, I don't want to spoil things for you. Watched it and cried buckets at the surprise for him.
