Well done England U20’s, an excellent performance.
Would love a video specifically looking at forward prospects coming through, who they play for, what that might look like for the England team in a few years etc
Really pleasing that, spot on about years, I don’t want to see them fast tracked too much, could cause them some long term problems.
The senior team have less of a prop issue and more of a tight head issue.
Genge and Obano both missed the recent tour, but with them back and Baxter, that’s a good combo to for future campaigns.
Tighthead we have real issue, so looking forward to some of the younger lads stepping up and taking there chances
Amazing achievement by all involved. Congrats to England U20s!
Fasogban whilst inexperienced and not a Gloucester starter yet, should be fast tracked I think. He’s a huge unit and and excellent scrummager. Yes it’s a completely different game at senior level but the cupboard is seriously bare at Tighthead.
Agree completely. Fast track him now, get him in the mix for the Autumn. He's massive. 6"4 and 20 stone. Exactly what we need at tight head.
@@darthmaul408 that’s a potential quick fix for the short term, plenty of studies suggesting if a props not fully developed that force going through them at such a young age can really cause issues, I know the situation is dire, has to be a balance here don’t want to sabotage a promising prospect.
Opoku-Fordjour, Fasogbon, Carnduff etc will be capped by the next World Cup I reckon. Maybe not first-choice yet but on their way.
Sela, Kpoku, Sodeke all have at least another year at U20 level so the future's looking bright.
Kpoku and pollock much more likely than carnduff. Kpoku and pollock are freakish talents. Also not sure carnduff gets ahead of the likes of hill, CCS, Curry, chessum at 6
Congrats to the U20 team, the power of the forwards has got me so excited for the future.
Couldn't believe the size of some of those boys, hopefully they will continue to develop and the future will be bright.
Sela, Asofgbon and Halliwell are all massive tight heads. The first 2 have 3 seniors in front of them at their clubs, so they may not be seen for a while. Hopefully we can fast track them.
Yea three genuinely big huge scrummaging tightheads just in time!
The front row does look very very impressive. Lets hope they kick on and the senior setup help them make a smooth transition.
We still have Obano and Heyes to have a proper look at in an England shirt before we start drafting in kids. Fin Baxter has only just started his career as well. The front row is a very difficult position to fast-track players into. Although there is no harm bringing them into training squads IF they get a run of prem games under their belts first.
@@EdLo3 spot on do more damage that good rushing probs in, it’s widely accepted they peak later that most positions too.
Disagree. Sometimes you have to grasp the obvious. This front row is frightening and should be getting involvement in the seniors now. The props you mentioned have all had chances and bar Baxter haven't really left an impression. Let's not be English for once and be a bit bolder in our calls
Thanks for this video. I’d be really keen to see your views on who, how and why players should be seen as ones to watch as to the senior squad.
It’s interesting that Mr Kpotu who I think, plays in France is only 18, and seems to be from comments, a real stand out chap.
I think a really great video as to analysis, would be where those players move to in the premiership, to move onwards.
Thanks again for another incisive video. I look forward to more!
Well played England lads.
Realistically, if u20 pack scrummed against senior squad pack, how do you think they would go?
They were so strong against other teams
Look at Fin Baxter 2 years after playing U20
Really hoping Pollock will be part of the Saints 23 this season. Big shoes to fill, but he looks the part!
He s pretty small though isn't he.
Zoomed in! Watching on my Apple TV I am unable to see the LHS edge info yet on the iPhone I can. Is this an issue on Apple TV or is an originator zoom issue? I can’t find how to adjust. Can anyone help please?
The video is fine, must be a device issue. Thanks for the view
Cheers
It's coming home 🎉
😂😂😂.
Good job lads. Good forwards is a must but good kicker is too. Many of senior games could've got win with more accurate kicks. Upwards we go though.
I reckon Borthwick will ask Alex Sanderson to develop OF as a tight head.....he looks like he could player either side easily. So strong and powerful....only 116Kg but in view of his age I am sure that they can bulk him up sensibly without taking away from his over traits around the park.
Sela, Fasabong and Asher are the props that need to be put on a fast track - particularly the TH's (which maybe they all are although I agree that Asher looks like a LH to me unless he adds some bulk) - but unless the club coaches can be persuaded to make them at least their bench choice they won't be there in time for the next WC. Baxter is the example of what can be done when a club backs the young talent. He was Marler's understudy getting 10 mins at the end - but within a season became the guy that started for Quins in the big games. DOR's - back the English talent!
England got some real talent. They need get these front rowers into the senior team.
The English senior team only weakness was the front rowers.
I was impressed with this English team that just toured NZ.
The whole forward pack could make it, the backs weren't convincing but hopefully they will keep improving with their clubs
Do you think in 4-5 years the forwards such as the props and pocock etc will be ready and good enough to feature for the full England team.
It seemed we lacked the calmness to finish moves off and maybe should have been a bigger scoreline. However, world champions at that level and six nations as well so plaudits are deserved
It should be noted that The U20s are very capable of attractive rugby and showed some great off-loading and nice touches in ealier games. as you say though, the conditions, similar to the Saffers game, were not conducive to the champagne stuff. The forwards carry well and link well in addtion to their scrummaging. They seemed t obe very well coached and so I would hope that ideas are swapped along with the player pathway developed. Bring back the England A fixtures, at least 3 per year perhaps a shadow 6N of some kind??
Massive pack think England had problems before bringing players on too early . But it was the pack that won the tournament for England..
Get the prospects training with the full squad now ! Well done England
Get the kids in now!
Props on central contracts forced to be played by their clubs
Really good to see some talented front rowers coming up through the ranks. We have had almost a decade of producing mobile only props and it shows up in tournament rugby against the big sides like SA and France. It will probably be a good few years until we see most of these props fully developed and international standard as it always does with props. We seem to be doing alright for hookers as well which was another problem position not too long ago. The front row alone won't win you a world cup but it can certainly lose you one.
Demba Bamba is a great example of someone who looked a superstar world class player at u20 but at senior international level hasn't looked the full package - great in the loose, not so good at scrum time. He is however only 26 so plenty of opportunity to develop his game.
I would be cautious about pushing the props too early.
The one shame about the u20 WC was the complete disinterest World Rugby had in trying to increase interest in the junior level rugby - 3 minute highlights on YT for most games which ignored most of the highlights was the best World Rugby was willing to do.
IMHO, Opoku-Fordjour needs to bed down at loosehead. Fasogbon, Sela and Halliwell all look like future England tightheads as well.
For sure
We need to abandon the overseas rules. Junior Kpoku wouldn’t be allowed an English cap currently.
Kpoku is going to play for france. I d put money on it.
Props yes but in a couple of years with prem experience.
Got to get the lock back from France.
Carnduff reminds me of a Tom Croft type back row and very promising.
Pollock is excellent but will he progress physically to reach senior level. Doubt it.
Hamish Watson had a good international career as well as being a Lion and I think Pollack is larger than Hamish.
He only jsut turned 19 and is 6'2 102 kg. I'm sure he's fine - bigger than current international 7s at that age group.
congrats to england , well deserved.. but u should know that half the under 20 french team was in argentina/ uruguay for the summer tests so maybe u shouldn't get carried away that much... anyway the difference in the forwards was quite obvious especially at scrum time... once again congrats to england and its fans
We beat them in April when they had those players, quite handily.
Well done England
France beaten by 19,after H/T. Openly.!!
Good God here we go again 😂😂😂.
Did you listen to the Irish hysteria about frawley and osbourne last week ? Casey played one game , now he’s world class. Go watch the Irish pundits and the comments . No one comment I’ve read on here saying anything other than there’s great potential with a few boys who have just won a World Cup. Don’t think these young English lads wanted to settle for a ranking of 2 in the world. Thanks for your comment though. Surprised you never used the word Entitlement.
No. Most of them will end up in club rugby which mostly produces good club players but not outstanding internationals. Well done though. The next stage is club rugby and burn out and mediocrity.
Ok
@@dulls8475 why so negative, great achievement, what’s most promising here is the real standouts (front row and 12) are where England have and still are struggling, think there’s more to be excited about English rugby wise that there has been for a while…..
I'd take that front row right now over the seniors. I think the hooker (Wright?) is exceptional and probably the most underrated
