The days of Viduka, Kewell and Cahill are LONG gone 😢
They were also rubbish. The entire history of football in Australia is embarrassing.
Back then I had a Cahill and Kewell Socceroos tops. Nowadays there is not one player's shirt that I want from the current Socceroos squad.
@@dreamlight8301 tim cahill was the best, however usa had landon donovan , look at the international goals list, australia at least is the Goat of cricket
You still have irvine, goodwin, mcgree at least
Imagine if tutolo was playing
As an Aussie, we still haven’t seen that VAR offside Angle 😂😂
EXACTLY, imagine the furore if it was our goal that was disallowed.....
I was thinking about the same
Jeez, I’m an Aussie and that could very easily be called a goal at the end there for Saudi
I still don't know why we struggle to finish almost every chance
Yeh I don’t get it, at least get on target every time inside or just outside the box
Was showing a new "soccer fan" clips of the 2006 / 2014 WC goals at half time.... Its the snail pace of our strikers. we dont shoot UNLESS we have had 3 touches and MADE SURE we make EYE CONTACT with the keeper before WE SHOOT.
Put anyones grandparents in and they would probs shoot faster. Go watch the Tim Cahill score v Netherlands in 2014 WC. Thats your answer. SPEED.
it's the one area Australian soccer suffers in. Awareness, instinct and the killer blow has taken a huge backward step. We will never see the likes of a Viduka, Kewell again. Haven't seen a decently skilled Aussie footballer for a while now. They're all athletes who kick a ball.
I know…. Because we are so shit!!!
@@Gregemio couldn't have said it any better. There's no instinct going forward - it's all very careful, slow and measured. It's not a winning style
It's hard to believe that except China game, the Succeroos not only failed to defeat any other team of group but also couldn't score a single goal in their nets during whole 4 games. *I'm Saudi Arabian and I can confirm that Australian Forward is totally lost after the retirement of Viduka Kewell and Cahill.* .. *Come on guys!! you must bring up to the world some young talents to continue the tale of your 3 previous Legends*
يولد شدخلك انت
....and as proud as I am from our boys, the fact is the Saudis should have won that game 1-0
How any manager can pick Mitch Duke as the best attacker in the country is beyond me.
He's shite
beyond me aswell, honeslty must be nepotism. Very overrated player.
@@krishkam186 nepotism under Arnold, yes….. no idea at all why Popovic wouldn’t give anyone else a go.
There's no one else better 😭
@@Ghenghis_1 Australian Forwards better than Mitch Duke…..
Jamie Maclaren
Andrew Nabbout
Adam Taggart
We also have an abundance of younger players gaining experience in the A League who would benefit from being in the squads let alone getting some game time. At this point, starting Harry Soutar up front would be more exciting than starting Mitch Duke.
Australia Should be proud can draw against saudi arabia
محظوظ ايها الاسترالي بسبب التعادل 😓😓
Watching the highlights from Canada. All the love to Saudi Arabia. Unlucky not to win.
God were depressing to watch. We don’t deserve to make this World Cup
Apart from Japan, no one does in this group.

That goal definitely did not look like offside to me…
But it was. It was tight, but offside nonetheless. VAR would have checked it to confirm the assistant referee's decision.
Aussie player with the fledging arms at the last line of defence would have put the Saudi player on side , no?
Игрок саудии не мешал вратарью,а это не оффсайд

Completely toothless up front without Goodwin.
why no goodwin in this game?
@@billycheung4392 suspended, but he'll be back next game
Need Goodwin, Boyle and other strikers who can score.
@@presntnowlike Taggart, Maclaren, and Cummings? (The last two being passed over due to prejudice towards the Indian league).
It’s honestly pathetic, I couldn’t think of another team in the world where your second string players are complete junk compared to your preferred starting players.
As Aussie that was a goal by Saudi Arabia
👍👍👍
An offside player in the line of sight of the goalkeeper, thats why its offside. The ball passed through him. Its deemed to impede the goalkeepers vision. THose are the rules.
I love Australia Cricket 🏏,👍💕💕
Much respect for both team 🇦🇺💙🇸🇦💚👏
The team needs generational change, most players are not good enough
I was at AAMI park, Australia was dominating in terms of big chances, but as usual are scared to shoot and make good decisions, and the away area with at most 100 people in it was making more sound than the rest of the stadium which was full of Aussie supporters, we need to be better.
Cant blame it all on the fans. Middle eastern teams have one of the loudest fans, especially KSA due to almost all of them being men. Compare teams with more female fans and you will hear a huge difference in decibel level.
@LFCRand0mEdits
we have no idea how to create football atmosphere
I was watching the match on air, but I didn't hear any Aussie chants or support.. It was only the Arabic language & Saudi chants I was hearing... You guys definitely need to get better regarding that.
@@Jaykmane Wow... You sir made a complete non sense of unproven theory !
Crime in the name of Humanity !!!
Yep at least 26k thousand plus fans and all I could hear was the Saudis me my mate tried but everyone was quiet
I only watched these highlights but gotta say, didnt look offside to me
オーストラリア応援してる、

Correct goal but not counted
same from usa, they take cricket, swimming, tennis, hockey, f1 more seriously
The strikers are either too selfish and don't pass or are too hesitant and don't take the shot...
Nether ,just not good enough for international football
Both at the same time 😅 plus something else, on top of that making socceroos void of strong striker(s)
SA were clearly the technically better team, dominated possession and pressed hard. Yet they barely fashioned any chances. Our blokes defended well and created many more chances. Should have scored a number of times but for poor finishing. Feels like Graham Arnold v2.0
Good summation, but I think Popovic will prove himself to be a better coach than Arnold.
@@gustaaf1892 I think so too. The China and Japan games we showed glimpses of being more structured in attack and better in possession. Didn’t see much last night, but the SA high press didn’t allow it. But there was space behind to exploit with longer balls which we did and should’ve scored.
We are a deeply unserious football nation
saddens me - we have potential to be so good at sports yet our population decides to outcast real football (the world game) for fumble ball or cricket.
@@stuka101 Um, did you see where you guys came in the Olympics? Higher than countries like India. Keep believing, bro
@thomasedwardking7286 India? World renowned for soccer lmao
football is THE world game, Saudiarabia is a very good team! this is not cricket or rugby unions/leauge where only a handful of countries r playing!
@@kyogofurahashi Saudi Arabia is a good team I know they won't playing good, but they got their new coach who was the same one that beat Argentina in the world cup.
Saudi should've won. Arabia's goal was correct
Offside means the goal was not correct, so what are you on about? He clearly interfered with the keeper's line of sight from a tight offside position and even let the ball run between his legs.
@@gustaaf1892 Bruh, look at my pfp... Ofc am biased... NOT OFFSIDE !!!
If offside was not enforceable you'd be correct
Atrocious, gutless finishing, purely amateur. No excuses.
I haven’t seen the Socceroos in a good while. And this performance sums up why.
Borello should has scored by taking the ball pass the goal keeper.
that's right, passing to teammate is tougher than shooting directly in this situation
@@VIETHOANG-ky7cdimagine not blaming McGree in that situation
@@johnnkurunziza5012 It's 100% Borrello's fault. McGree is hardly wide open and the pass to him is poor. If Borrello chips the keeper or goes around him it's an almost certain goal.
In hindsight he probably should have but plenty of times we have ripped into players for not squaring it off. Was terrible of both players and we should have been 1/2 goals up well before then through other chances
Completely true. Some bloke told me his first touch was too hard to get a proper shot. Looking at the video now, he was in perfect position to shoot after that big touch. Too scared to shoot, or no confidence in himself. The joys of Australian football.
not a Offside. The Player is not in line of goal keeper view to the ball
Pretty ordinary performance on home soil. Many questions to be asked.
This team would be a national embarrassment if they played in the world cup finals.
Mate, they’re an embarrassment in the qualifiers before the tournament is even underway.. What finals do you speak of? 😂
As an Englishman. Hello, have you met us yet?

@@ChadTRUMPWow! Look at that! The creature actualy understood!
And managed to mispell 50% of it's comment.
chokes*
I cannot recall ever seeing a goal keeper so determined to screw up an opportunity. In possession of the ball he had several options open, throw the ball out to a winger or up the centre, run to the edge of the area and produce a long range kick. But no, with three attackers in a triangle around him he placed the ball very deliberately on the ground and attempted to dribble past them. Popovic has a lot of work to do and needs to find players capable oof putting the ball in the back of the net.
Saudi's got ripped off
المنتخب السعودي كان يستحق الفوز وبقوة 🇸🇦💚🤍
It was obvious that the goal was not offside...the referees stole the win from Saudi Arabia
Specsavers for you.
You have very cold commentary ,compared to arab commentators
0-0, thrilling as always
Australia has one win from 5 games. 😮
Uae ironically, mustve been mad Al nasser dominated their team
I don't think australia will be at the next world cup playing football like this.
That looked like a legitimate goal. Ploppyroos got very lucky with that call. Where is the linesman from?
Oh no, don't let @gustaaf1892 read your comment !
Australia seems too frustrated against Saudi Arabia. Too many wasted attempts gone. 🙁🙁😐😐
Saudi Arabia were robbed, that goal in the last minutes was never offside, Irvine kept him clearly onside with his arm
Arm doesn’t count in offside calls
Clearly new to football 😂
Since when are arms deemed offside?
Lol 😂
Glad i stayed home, we need a striker who can shoot the ball without taking 59 touches
AUSTRALIA... KEEP TO RUGBY LEAGUE 🏉
Last minutes was so crazy 🤔
The Only team that defeated winners of 2022 wc
Australia had more possession but the Saudis were more effective... They could have won.
Miss Cahill, Viduka and Kewell
Why oh why do we look so nervous every time we get the ball in our forward half?
Finishing is the only problem for soccerroos hehe
arnie should of never left, we could move mountains with him, now we will either miss out on the wc or be toothless in it, we will remember you arnie you turned a mediocre squad into a great team
Bring Nestory
Same issuess. Have to score goals, many goals. Need goals !
Australia struggled to keep pace with the Saudis, who despite their mesmerising ball skills , created very few chances. Aussies need to be able to maintain possession a lot better, to have any hope of troubling a serious international team.
الاخطاء الفردية بدفاع السعودية شيء عجيب خصوصاً الحارس ما ادري ليش الا يبغى يغامر ويثبت لنا وجوده!
Don’t feel shrink back guys. Trust team mate & enjoy soccer .
I believe if my Saturday group plays with Australia national team, we’ll win. It’s such a rubbish performance, clear chances without even hitting a target
I would probably agree with you. And your Saturday team is probably only 15 years old too!
Half the people in this comment section clearly dont understand the offside rule. The saudi player was marginally offside (offside nonetheless) and impacting the view of the goalkeeper, hence the goal being disallowed. The one time VAR makes a correct decision, and people are still complaining about it.
Edit: For the last time, if a player is obstructing the view of an opposition goalkeeper while in an offside position, even without touching the ball it will be deemed offside. Also, the excuse that the arm kept him offside doesn't matter. Arms and hands are not considered when trying to determine if a player was onside or offside. There is alot of brainless bias towards saudi even though the call was correct.
He didn't even block the goalkeeper view !!
The GK already saw the ball before it even reaches the Saudi player Al-Bulaihi... والقممم يا العلج ولو انه تعادل
@AbdoZaInsert The player was in an offside position when the shot was taken, and he was in the keepers way, making it harder for him to see. The rules state that it is an offside.
Looked like a legit goal. Guess playing at home still matters?
@njd2342 it wasn't a legit goal, however and it's not home team bias either. It's an offside every day of the week, mate.
@@LFC9_ Oh go on I'm persuaded now Mr Liverpool as its Friday.
Borrello got a chance and CHOKED passing when he should have fulfilled His positon's identifyer.. STRIKER... And they keep on putting that,, i never score goals,, Duke on the field... I just cannot figure out what Duke has that gets him selected for Australia??? Does anyone know??
We need players that can score goals and are not timid in doing so ! To many opportunities went begging with poor finishing being the norm ! We fans deserve better ,we need quality strikers who can score when opportunities are presented on a silver platter! Lucky to get away with a draw at home to an opposition ranked well below us !
@@garyszabados2545 Wait what are goals again? Oh right, yeah... kick the ball into the net thing!!!
Couldn't agree more. We need players who have the confidence to take a first touch shot. Were doomed at this point. Cant see us making it this time around. Good time to start picking which other country your going to follow this WC instead.
But hey at least we can all look forward to watching ENGLAND loose on penalties again.
Borello, Irvine, McGree, Hrjustic with good chances.
At least 1 or 2 nil.
Duke, what is his job? He doesn't hold it up to play off him, he doesn't make runs in behind, I don't know. And instead of laying a pass to Hrustic to shoot when they won the ball at top of the box, a natural, instinctive striker would've turned and smashed it in.
@@JasonSnell-y6h why Australia is not allowing McLaren.
So many chances missed , it’s great we are creating but we have to put them away . We nearly lost if it wasn’t for that 50/50 offside
Would rather Kusini Yengi up front than Duke. We need to be picking the next generation now. Even though he's a kid, I still would rather have Irankunda in as a sub for the last ten to fifteen every game, he can score goals.
The Socceroos are like Beavis and Butthead, THEY'RE NEVER GONNA SCORE!
Lungo , irankunda , Goodwin
Only hope of scoring
it's like watching Raygun dancing all over again.. and there's 11 of them
Why offside?😂
Because rule 11. "A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play." He was involved as soon as he moved to avoid touching the ball. Well done by linesman
@@julesbrunton1728but the Saudi defender wasn’t offside in the first place. They didn’t draw the line so I don’t think they checked if he was offside in the first place. It’s a mistake by the linesman
@@rayan-sf3dp stop the clip @ 2:09 and you'll see. It was offside.
We desperately need ballers like Volpato and Robertson. We got absolute zero pace in that opening lineup
That goal was never offside, they were robbed, Australia were very lucky to come away with anything. No game plan whatsoever
Agree
It was. The player was in an offside position, impacting Joe gauci's line of sight.
Either way several refereeing calls favoured saudi tonight, if anything Saudi Arabia, were lucky to get a point, mate.
Didn’t know you’re a Saudi fan. It was a clear offside he was blocking the view of the keeper and pretended he was going to shoot
Two teams played with spirit but lacked in creating and scoring goals. My question is why did they not show the offside line on which the goal was disallowed? This is a big question mark.
Why was that goal disallowed?
Two examples - player receives boot stud at the end of his foots, starts rolling around clutching his ankle. Player is shoved from behind, starts rolling around clutching his testicles. The referees are oblivious to the simulation of Middle Eastern players after an alleged foul tackle. First of all, many grab an area that wasn’t touched, then there is customary minimum three rolls and finally the uncontrolled shaking of the hand. It’s so predictable. My question is that if, based on the theatrics, the injury is so serious, why are they not taken from the ground to the side line asap to be treated so the game can carry on. It’s a blight on the game, the spectacle and those in charge. It’s pure gamesmanship because they all react the same way. Stop the BS.
To be fair Saudi Arabia are a very underrated side, they did great against Argentina.
Good on the boys, onto the next one!!!
Not only against ARG, they have a great football history in Asia and one of the best in the continent.
Please bring Jamie McLaren all time top A league scorer 🙌🙌
Can only score tap ins and penalties, would do terribly for Australia
@@alphaelectricx6753 domestic league is a joke
Has been tried for Australia ineffective against any decent opposition
he needs lots of chances
He minds me of Scott McDonald who was a gun at Celtic, won their golden boot a couple of times (from memory), but for the green and gold 2006-2012 Australia 26 (0). 0 goals in 26 appearances... ouch.
Both teams played ancient football, no composure, no direction just running around 😂😂
Another lacklustre effort against a side well below us on FIFA rankings! Too many missed opportunities and poor finishing , we have to play better and smarter ! We need to train better strikers and learn to score GOALS, more GOALS and nothing but GOALS !
Our main GOAL should be to score GOALS in order to qualify for the next World Cup! Mediocre efforts by ordinary players will get us nowhere and we don't want to be seen as easybeats, we loyal fans deserve to see better performances in future !
Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 did beat Argentina
@@insertnamehere5809 that has some value if you didn't create chances. You had the chances but because of less than mediocre finishing you blew them away and nearly paid for it with their one and only chance.
But they completely contained Japan and scored points.
Jackaon Irvine is a classy player. If that shot dipped a bit that would have been special.
lucky socceroos
I could've sworn I was watching the ladies play here, the finishing was on par.
As a Mohun Bagan fan pls trust on macca .....he is the real finisher who can solve ur finishing prblm💚🤎
Ok or Jamie Maclaren
I still can't see how that's offside
I get if he's in an offside position it is arguably offside but I just don't see how he's in an offside position!
Deplorable display of finishing from the aussies. Saved by their 12th player in the end. That guy was absolutely not obstructing the keepers view. Should have been a 1-0 L
Caceras to good not to start. The only player who can comfortably play under pressure. Subbed on way to late. With all the ball Saudi had they didn't do much against our defence. Socceroos had more better chances. Comments are screaming, but I can see it won't take much to improve. Confidence comes from love not egos.
