I watched your mushroom videos last year so I caught the bug and did 30 logs this spring. I was wondering if you could do a video on how you all process your mushrooms, like packaging and or drying. Thank you again, I love your videos keep them coming.
This is a great use of land. I have a spot where I should do this...but I can't stand the taste of mushrooms. If I manage to find a place to sell the mushrooms, I will work on doing this.
Dry them bone dry, powder them, get gelatin capsules and a loader, make your own supplements. Lions mane, Reishi and blue oyster (cult) are a little difficult but not impossible. Super foods! Also lions mane tastes great.
I know you said you net the inoculated logs to keep woodpeckers away from the spore plugs, but do you have to look out for any critters that may go after the mycelium or the mushrooms?
Big time appreciate this one Greg. Respect as always.. ps..funny i was literally already watching your sheep video in my garage, from your August fourth content, just as i got your update.. 😆
Great looking harvest. Wonderful cycling of material right off your farm. I like the cedar slabs to avoid wild fungus. Have you ever experimented with sealing the end grain with wax to slow drying?
Diversification certainly is the way to go not having your eggs in one basket helps the bottom line for sure. My mouth was watering looking at shitakis being harvested. The last time I ate mushrooms I had trouble breathing we were on the bridge just a few blocks from home when it started, I like mushrooms just not enough to eat them ever again, luckily we were not that far from help the medication that I was given relieved the breathing issue. It doesn't suck to be me but some people think it does as there is tons of food that I have to avoid yeast being the major allergy so no more yogurt, pickles, sauerkraut nothing with vinegar. I would love to be able to add them to my diet but I am content with those things I can eat. Let's change the subject worms I am a book worm nothing better than reading well that's not quite true now a days equally important is having a notification that you have posted a new video 🤗 I remember very little about highschool biology foremost was Mr Wilton saying to a vinegar worm vinegar is sweet .I think he also told us that each earth worm was female and male but I can't put my hand on my heart and firmly say that it is true. And I am not going to Google it as there's no reason to confirm it I don't care if they are odd or not let them live their lives.🤔🙄😊 Some of Mum's sayings that she liked to use the early bird catches the worm, don't open a can of worms her favourite was watch out when the worm turns. My youngest sister could take a lot of guff but watch out when she had enough she would let you know. 🍀🎶🎵🎶🍀👍👍👍👍🍀🐑🍀🖖🖖🖖🖖🍀🎶🎵🎶🍀😘💕💞💕🙋🏼♀️
Looks good 👍. Great job
Pretty good set up Jan and Greg!
We cut some Greg and Jan Judy mushrooms up in stir-fry last night! Delicious!

Lovely! I just had a chopped mushroom over my egg this morning. Your mushrooms would be the size of my egg!
What wood is it?
Oak
What’s on the end of each log?
How do you sell these?

Do you think shiitake would do well on live oaks
How do I start growing them
Thanks for the video! They look yummy. I love mushrooms. Can you eat these mushrooms fresh or do you have to cook them?

This is very impressive! Hope to see some happening on my logs I got from you this year. :-)
They look awesome. You are ingenious. Where do you get the black oak? Do you put spores on them?
👍👍👍

What a great business model! Do you think you’ll ever run out of logs? Or does your management account for regeneration of the logs?
Do rats eat mushrooms?
