  • In this video I attempt to answer a question nobody asked: can you "sim race" in BeamNG with a car you made in Automation?

    cool video, I see you like my mod body :) and my vent you made large and put on the side :P
    if you're getting too much power oversteer on corner exit, there's a tuning option for rear toe in, give that about 15%, and it'll help a little :)
    if you wanted to know how to make this shorter, you could have dropped the foe dashboard part, as it is a bit long, and it never gets put to any practical use in the video later on :) just my 2 cents though
    overall, I really enjoyed this :) and I really want to try the car out for myself

      Thanks! Your Valkyrie body was definitely essential here - this is janky, yes, but it'd be way worse with the vanilla version of that body. Plus, I didn't mention this in the video, but it very helpfully allows placement over the wheels.
      I did look for toe, but Auto cars don't have it in the menu. It's there in the jbeam, but with a tiny (as in, fraction of a degree) range - change this and the wheels just break.
      Assuming you mean the fake race screen, that's just there as a background to explain the jbeam mods over since I didn't record all of them.
      And yeah, the mod will be available whenever it gets approved on the repository!

    Holy shit haha :D this is insane. I assume you, making this game we didn't think of any of this ever being possible ;D great project! Cheers

      Hey, thanks for making the game! I complain about it... a lot... but there's really no game like it, and I'm glad you've made a game with this much freedom.

      @@noname2242 It is super impressive how it inspires people to do such crazy-complex things like you show off here! And yes, the parts you complain about are warranted to be complained about because they do indeed suck... but also they are just outside the scope of the game for the most part :D

      @@KillrobPlays Yep, totally understood.
      I'd still be interested in stuff like grouping (and saving groups of) fixtures, outside of the current advanced trim thing that replaces all fixtures on a build, but from what I have heard that would require a ton of work - I wouldn't know; I am not a game developer.

      Yeah, it pretty much saved my engine build - I didn't go into detail in the video, mostly because I don't know enough to explain, but there were a ton of issues with my timing and such that I probably wouldn't have been able to fix without it.

    Suprising that thing is 15 seconds slower than the fastest f1 lap at imola, lest imagine that monster of a car in the hands of [Good driver]

    key thing to remember about beamng is that is not a racing/driving sim, its a physics sim that is mostly driving

      Of course - doesn't mean you can't try to race in it anyway, though.

      @@datgamer2800 I tried to learn to drift recently (I actually did a video the first time I did this, years ago and well before voice commentary) now that I have a wheel; it's still next to impossible. From what I've found online it's supposed to be harder than real life drifting, which seems insane.

    • @noname2242
      @noname2242  Рік тому

      Beam is so much easier with the wheel now - other than maybe for rock crawling, but that's since I'm bad at it. The wheel is now a permanent fixture on my desk (and right in the way of my monitor, but I use it so much I won't move it).

      @@noname2242 That's great! I'm always happy when somebody get infected with the simracing fever. :)
      What type of set do you have? Logitech, Thrustmaster?

    • @noname2242
      @noname2242  Рік тому

      @@Muckytuja It's a Logitech G29. I want to build a little wooden frame to hold the pedals to my chair (an office chair, so, wheels) - for now I just have to put shoes under the chair. Would also be really nice to get a sequential shifter and a handbrake, as those get much harder to use on the wheel the more I turn, but I don't have room or even anything to put them on for now.

    • @Muckytuja
      @Muckytuja Рік тому

      @@noname2242 That's a really good wheel, but you definitely need a shifter. You can switch that to sequential, or manual 6 speed with a turn-switch.
      I personally use the spacebar on my keyboard as a handbrake, or a designated button on the wheel, but if you have the dough, buy a mechanical handbrake.
      Setting up how to not push yourself away from the pedals was a pain in the butt for me too. :D
      I ended up buying a thick, small rug and I put that under my sit&spin chair and the pedals. That solved it for me.
      I recommend to watch some simdriving videos to learn the basics of driving good and fast.
      (Left foot brake, when to use powerslide and when and how to brake , etc.)
      You will learn a lot of how the physics and the control of the vehicle works, and you will find the slight difference between simulators and which is the best for you.
      Well, most of those pretty similar, but there are some sims that are more simarcades, than full on simulators, but you will decide what is your favorite. ;)
      Happy simming!

    I don't know how to word this, but it looks like its a sim machine. The roof of the car being so straight and low makes it seem like its just a really wide monitor. Specifically the Nürburgring section
