What,what?😁😁
lense flare has definitely improved at the iphone 14 pro but its not gone. I use the galaxy 22 ultra and I am verry satisfied with it. Both cameras have their pros and cons. Thanks for the comparison.

repent TODAY, forsake your sinful way of life, and believe in the Gospel.
salvation is found only in the LORD JESUS CHRIST alone, Who took upon the sin of the world on that cross, bearing the pain and punishment we deserve(d), that our sins may be atoned for, and He is risen [in glory] for our justification, that we may be made right with GOD, that we may know Him, be adopted by Him and reconciled to Him -- forgiven, set free from the curse of sin and death, and made as new creatures in CHRIST alone.

Great comparison. I really can’t decide. When I’m taking videos or photos at night I don’t like too much light. I want the sense of darkness but enough lighting to define the scene. On the other hand when my priority is to capture details in dark settings I obviously want lightness and good definition.
u can always make it darker in post, but try making a dark video lighter...
You can set the lighting down or as Hazey mentioned do it afterwards.
just play with the settings on the samsung. you can go as light as you want
There's a reason there is ProRAW so you can edit it out into your own liking.
@@romella_karmey ProRAW is for photos, in order to get a video with the same editing potential as the photos you need to shoot in ProRes which requires a ton of storage. Sorry for the quibble, maybe someone didn’t know this :)
Great comparison as always dude!

iPhone did a really great job I could see more color in the clouds more color and detail on some of the other things hopefully when the next Samsung Galaxy comes out we will see a better camera to go up against the iPhone

When I want the best comparisions, I always watch your videos, Danny. Hats off, you are a real expert and your explanations are priceless.
Over sharpening is still HORRIBLE, especially in video... WE NEED an option to reduce the ULTRA SHARPENING that ruins the footage. And keep in mind that UA-cam compresses and smooths things out.
from the iPhone?
@@NicolasKeven probably the s22 ultra
@@ZT001 Samsung mainly need to improve recording, cameras are good enough, maybe if they can add more software help like Apple does
Yep. The only way to get rid of that is to use an app like Filmic Pro to disable sharpening
In that regard the Xiaomi Mi11 Ultra is great. So natural footage. Im wondering why it isnt mentioned anywhere with it video capabilities..
You always have the best comparisons of all the others! Direct, to the point, and all the modes w/o the fluff 👍🏼👍🏼 the iPhone footage looks great, but if only they could get rid of those UFO flares 🛸🛸🛸
Thanks dude! Yes those flares are annoying. Loved your HDR test the other day!
The best camera comparison as always. Thank you Danny for your great effort!
A new flagship comes out.
Danny's kids: Yay! Let's go to disney again!
7:21 you can always easily reduce the exposure to make a night video look more like the darkness you saw while retaining all the quality. But you can never boost a darker video to make it brighter without adding noise.
Yes, I know he is doing this at default settings but he should mention that the iPhone has profiles in case you want flatter or more saturated, and also as you say, it is very easy to change the exposure. Another thing they rarely mention in night mode photos is that the iPhone may default to 4 second exposure but can be upped to 8 seconds if you want more light. Also, the ProRAW on the iPhone has far more detail than the RAW on the S22U.
@@andyH_England agreed! And in fact, if you are really stable with your hands, night mode for stills will go up to 10 sec, and if you use a tripod or set the phone down onto a stable surface, it will go all the way up to 30 sec. I’ve been able to get some really amazing shots with mine in lighting that would embarrass my expensive DSLR. :)0
The regular user, don't touch that's things
@@Abner.mp4 It takes a matter of seconds on an iPhone to open a video you already recorded and pull the exposure down. It’s very basic and lots of people do indeed tweak their photos and videos this way because it couldn’t be simpler to do.
@@andyH_England Caping again? ExpertRAW on the galaxys better sensor is far superior. And there are many settings to tweak on the samsung aswell so does go way round. Most apple users wont change anything though so stock video is important, iPhone is bright and the galaxy accurate so its again just personal preference with both having pros and cons
As a samsung fan boy,its really hard to say that,if it is about video, there is no debate, its iphone. No matter whether its dynamic range, details, cinematic mode,,low lightvideo etc, even thr first gen action mode is way far better than Samsung's own 4gen old super steady mode both in resolution and smootheness. With each iphone, apple is just increasing the lead which they already has, kudos team iphone.looking for how samsung will respond to apple with S23u🙂
Yeap... I feel that Samsung left behind video optimization.. They need to improve that on 23s!
If we keep the pressure up but saying the truth, rather than excuses as in some comments in other videos, then hopefully Samsung will improve, if they can.
Samsung is honestly just years behind...
Samsung is better in 8k, portrait videos and night mood video..... And note it's more than 7 months ago that iPhone
@@lawrenceokagbue6768 Samsung caps the cinematic video at 1080p, which isn't good enough. The edge detection on Samsung is a bit better though.
That Portrait Video on Galaxy S22 Ultra is unbelievable. Didn't expect to be that good lol
I bought the Max but would love the sound and tele of the S22 - the afternoon rain scene was also much better colours than the iphone - warmer tones are generally better but in that particular scene they just looked fake. Nice work.

Great comparison 👍😊 I enjoy you're breakdowns every time a new phone comes out i run to UA-cam to see what you have to say about it. Was looking forward to this. The videos i've seen from Arun and Supersaf show the ultra worse off than your comparison. Do you think its because yours is the snapdragon version and theirs is the exynos?
It could be. Also could just be the difference in scenery.
Danny Great Job as usual, just a quick question did your s22 ultra had the august update that supossed improves cámara quality? Thank you

Low light is what I care the most. iPhone beats the Galaxy S22 Ultra hands down.
In general and in overall testing samsung has better cameras than the iphone. Don't just look at one parameter. it's another matter, and I understand you if you personally prefer the iPhone
Than must look for X80..... Vivo is beast in night mode
S22 actually looks better in low light but the iPhone looks better with detail in more light
Not with the zoom 😉
@@creativez1335 zoom is only for gimmicks
The Galaxy will never compare to the IPhone when it comes to pictures and videos.
Awesome video by the way.
Would you be able to also mention filesizes that each phone outputs? I think Samsung might be favouring smaller filesizes which has an impact on quality. With my S22 Ultra I've got GCam installed (Eric-JaJo-BSG-V8.1xml config file) which outputs photos with a 10MB filesize. The stock camera app outputs same resolution photos with 3MB filesize. While they're the same resolution, the amount of additional detail in the GCam photo is crazy!
It happens with iphones too. The camera app saves photos in .heic format. And the pic sizes are like 1-4mb but if u convert it to .jpg it’ll be 8-17mb
Try Expert Raw, you get 16Bit photos with even more detail…
Please give me the link for gcam and thanks
Is that 108mp resolution for 3mb? My stock camera 64mp fill size 15mb

That's maybe the best video comparison I've seen so far 👏. I want to point out e.g 3:36 (portrait mode) or 6:50 (night details) or 8:25 (night stabilisation). That's what make your channel so good. Big thx. Overall iPhone sensor seems to be king in low light condition. Samsung should concentrate on this instead of doing marketing gimmicks like increasing their 108 MP sensor even further to 200 MP. I guess 48 MP with 2x2 pixel binning is the optimum.
One wish though: Please try to do your comparisons not only by perfect weather. This often leads to unexpected results. E.g. I'm still annoyed by iPhone cloud HDR Rendering, which leads to much too dramatic looking clouds.
IPhone 13 a noite é ridículo, o iPhone 14 é mais novo, processador mais capaz, é natural que esteja melhor. O S22 está muito a frente do iPhone 13 no quesito estabilidade e uso noturno.

I was looking to potentially upgrade to the iPhone 14 Pro from the iPhone 13 Pro primarily for outdoor livestreaming but only if there were an actual reduction in those greenish dot lens artifacts from lights at night. Seems like it's about the same, but looking forward to your comparison between those two! Thanks!
I cannot remember the video but a comparison showed that the 14P is much better at reducing the light flare, though still not eliminated.

Awesome video would love to see z fold 4 vs pro max as well, you had "action mode on" on S22 Ultra and Super Steady Mode on IPhone haha
4:00 Can iPhone 14 Pro Max record Slo-mo 4K 120fps or 240fps and Timelapse 4K? Can Galaxy S22 Ultra record Slo-mo 4K 120fps or 240fps and Timelapse 4K?
I prefer smartphones have 4K recordings for all such Cinema, Timelapse, Slow motion, and so on, so that all 4K videos look much better on large screen 4K HDR TVs instead of mismatch recordings video resolutions 1080p and 4K.
Apple launched the first iPhone on June 29, 2007. Samsung launched the first Galaxy phone on June 29, 2009. Then, two companies have become rivalry instead of cooperation. Now, Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra camera video beats Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max camera video. Samsung is making real high-quality TVs for their customers while Apple is making unreal Apple TVs for their customers.
I am very curious about the comparison of Xiaomi 12S ultra, Vivo x80 pro. They are very good at FLARE LIGHT
Video on s22U looks like from an entry level phone especially in night time. Lol. I love your camera comparison. Very informative.
Love ur videos Danny ❤ ..
Personally , I'm more into portraits and less into night video..so the s22 ultra still rocks it.. but to each his/her own.
I think I would personally prefer the iPhone for portraits, especially since I believe takes good shots consistently at any time of the day. ProRAW format is also a big plus imo. Plus you have less time between each shutter which can be pretty important when you're pressed with time.
You should go for consistency. iPhone is one example. You can edit out the portrait shots later on to your liking, though. There's a reason photographers use raw pictures so they edit them out later on.
Thank you for your excellent report.
Your video makes the most sense.
Gotta give props where they're due, iphone video in auto is excellent, and this is coming from someone who thinks they're prices are too high, but that night video is on another level good work
lately most phones if you want the best is pretty expensive that's why some people wait for the price to drop
The S22 Ultra is a beast all round but the iphone is still king..can you please do a portrait mode pictures and videos in bright outdoor and real lowlight indoor
There is no way for us to tell how faithful both are to the original scenery without seeing the original with the naked eye.
doesn't matter, one captures more detail, shadows, and less noise= better. seeing it with the naked eye wouldn't change any minds
The rain just added another dimension to "real world testing".
Awesome. These smartphone cameras now are so great , really can't go wrong with either. Of course the iPhone kills it in the video department but I love the zoom of the S22U.

Missed that infamous CocaCola test.
Samsung will always lose on video quality against the iphone because samsung thinks its all about photos . Once iphone gets a periscope lens it will be gameover for samsung when it comes to camera. But whats more likely ? That samsung improves the video to match the iphones or that iphone gets a 10x periscope lens ? Its more likely samsung improves the video.
i actually disagree (and would absolutely LOVE to be proven wrong) but samsung has had way too long to do that and they made the mistake of prioritizing high mega-pixels which also negatively affets video. and for them to go back to something like 40 MP or 50 MP (which they really should) is not something i can picture them doing for marketing reasons. Honestly video on samsungs is doomed to be this way for a really long tme.
One of the reasons why the iPhones video is so good is because their neural engine is so good. Samsung has a processor limitation. SD is still behind the 13 Pro Max and Samsung clearly failed at making good processors with Exynos.
@@UProductions457 i think is because of that 108mp sensor, 0.8um size pixels are u kidding me thats like 2014 galaxy s5 size its waaay to small thats why it has such noise and terrible at night. @@hbgstorm Yes, but 108mp sells to the Samsung hardcore fans that want BIG numbers. Are they having 200mp on the S23U? Hopefully they will not make the same mistake with that.

Man I like the way you make your videos!
Your words are simple to understand and helpful to make a good decision 😉.
For the night time video I'd take the lighter, more colour accurate shot as I can always darken it in post to make it more 'realistic' looking.
That portrait video on the s22 is insane!
Team iPhone 14 Pro Max or Team Galaxy S22 Ultra? Did the results shock you?

Wow amazing s22 ultra still blew up iphone 14 80% scenery
The best comparison so far 🔥👏
7:07 So here it depends on the detail captured by each device. The iPhone captured a brighter than life scene, but also much more detail and much less noise. You can always reduce the brightness or exposure in post. You can't bring back the lost detail in the S22 Ultra.
pro and pro max have same camera ?
Samsung have many things that could make photos look processed like detail enhancer, auto framing, scene optimizer and focus enhancer. I always turn those things off.
focus enhancer icon is visible only when something is too close to the camera lens, you can turn it off then, it's not listed in the camera settings.
And it goes without saying, everyone should turn-off the skin smoothing by tapping the magic wand and then tap the on button to turn it off, don't just use the slider.
Loved your videos, Thanks! 👍
Accuracy for me is #1, the quality of these flagship pictures comes closer and closer but there are still noticable differences in color tones and accuracy. The nightime video is an exterme example and while I prefer the iPhone overall, I think to record the real life color tones, brightness etc, is more important then to have extra sharpness etc. I also have a problem with these best-in-class photos sometimes when I realize how overprocessed some of them are...
I personally like the colors better on the iphone, even if they are not as accurate. Also keep in mind, you can take 48 mp raw photos on the iPhone, while the s22 blends pixels to take it back down to 12 mp. The iPhone will default to the same blending of pixels down to 12 mp, but you can take 48 mp raw images which the s22 can not.
The processing style of the iphone has sucked imo since iphone 11 was introduced, it’s a shame since the cameras are so good technically.
I m sure you wouldnt tell what phone was used if they wouldnt label both cameras

What? Are you blind? The 8k is cropped in so much and it's still less sharper than iPhone's 4K. Totally useless feature.

Dynamic range, clarity, and oversharpening/too much noise reduction is always Samsung's problems when it comes to their videos. Hopefully, the S23 can fix these.
also, the iPhone warmer tones look better as well maybe Samsung can adopt something similar.
and happy you share the comparison again between this 2 beast from now 2022...
Videos from iphone has higher detail both in low light and daytime. the noise level of iphone's video is also significant better. Before, samsung usually use a bigger sensor to achieve better photo, to compensate for the weak processing power of the chip. Now it became the weakness of the phone because video is hard to process and will cost more power compare the photos.
I'm a s22 ultra user ,when it comes to video ,there's no doubt about it ,iPhone claps
Apple's advantage will be ProRes for filmmakers as iPhone's continue to grow in sensor size. Apple is making a good move by putting ProRes as an option for 13 Pro and 14 Pro even though %95 of their users have no clue what ProRes is, let alone its huge benefits. ProRes recording on iPhone 13 Pro is more than decent with well lit scenarios but practically useless during the night due to its small sensor. Apple is getting close to the 1" sensor mark but until then, as a filmmaker...im sticking with Samsung + MotionCam.
I dont think any serious artist will use iphone for prores unless he s die hard fan. You have standalone cameras for that. Its just an excuse to say iphones can do everything. Iphones are crap in low light
Hats off Danny, really good comparison!!! Cheers!!!🥂🥂
I am really impressed by samsung. I think what they can do better is to use better secondary camera sensors. Like I know the new iPhone physical camera sensors for 3x is phenomenal and Samsung is using a lower quality lens piece. They can certainly do better
I have S22 Ultra and note 10+, The day time 4K video is bad on S22 U
Note 10+'s 4k video i way more detailed and crips ...
My friend is gona get iphone 14 pro i will see how 14 stand against 10+
Great comparison. Definitely shows the strengths and weaknesses of these two devices.
I think usability is more important. sometimes accuracy has to be compromised because most people are not going to spend a lot of time editing video and photographs. obviously this applies to a point. If the content becomes cartoonish then there is a problem.
I noticed that the highlights were controlled differently in each device. In some instances the Iphone would blow them out (i suppose to lift the shadows) In other cases the highlight details were retained. I wonder what the algorithm looks at when deciding these things.
Wow... What a wonderful review. You the Man !! Thanks to your review, I can be confident my S22 ULTRA order I made yesterday. Thanks again.
I think we should scrap multiple sensors and have actual 1" sensors, variable apatures and an element that has a continuous zoom ranging from ultrawide, wide and tele. It really isn't a lot to ask for and is entirely possible to combine them and still retain zoom capabilities with a retractable camera system while saving space, since it wouldn't take up much more space than a cluster of sensors and would just cause a slight protrusion on the back, but we are all expecting that as it is and is ultimately for the sake of picture/ video quality.
that is a whole hell of a lot more complex to engineer compared to having several sensors. Its possible, but it will more than likely come with quite a number of sacrifices.
@@Dwivil if a version of the galaxy s4 could manage it almost 10 years ago, then it would not be hard to implement given the tim and focus in the right direction. The current method seems very much like a dead end and it's nonsense expecting large sensors for each individual camera type when all can be achieved with one. Besides, it certainly wouldn't come at the expense of water resistance, since it is very much possible given there are conve tional cameras that are water resistant, that, and popup cameras have come and gone with no impact to IP rating in practice and can easily be applied to a retractable camera element. The benefits mean a large sensor regardless of the picture mode - with an added benefit of a more practical use of higher MPs with less drawbacks with relying on binning and noise in video present on small sensors - continuous zoom, possible variable appature, DSLR-like picture quality and less reliance on software to get good photos.
Great job on the video camera comparison. The video colors looks so consistent throughout - did you edit this in premiere and what color space is the timeline? Did the video have to convert from HDR?
